How much do you think this couple spent this year?

  • 2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter
  • 1 week European sun holiday in May
  • 2 week European holiday this summer
  • 1 week U.K. break this summer
  • 1 U.K. city break long weekend

For 2 adults. Travelling comfortably in a nice standard of accommodation, not budget but not lavish either. So eating out at nice enough places but not champagne & oysters for every meal!

How much do you think this has all cost in total?!

Who could say? I mean, maybe they went to 5 star hotels or maybe they did air BnB. Who cares?!

CuteCillian · 16/08/2024 17:10

Business class on long haul?
Makes a difference but I will guesestimate £32K

tribalmango · 16/08/2024 17:16

I think it cost as much of a piece of string.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/08/2024 17:17

Idk

More money than I’ve got!

Stresshead84x · 16/08/2024 17:19

£15,000.00 if they were being quite frugal- maybe up to £20,000.00.

Potentially could be less if they were getting good deals/budget, eating in a lot etc.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 16/08/2024 17:20

15-20k just for flights and accommodation.

DancelikeFredAstaire · 16/08/2024 17:20

Do you not have the receipts or was it someone else and this is the prelude to a massive drip feed and rant ?about it

Whatineed · 16/08/2024 17:21

Twelvety

MrTiddlesTheCat · 16/08/2024 17:26

£50k

DinnaeFashYersel · 16/08/2024 17:26

• 2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter £4k
• 1 week European sun holiday in May £2k
• 2 week European holiday this summer £3k
• 1 week U.K. break this summer £2k
• 1 U.K. city break long weekend £1k

DancelikeFredAstaire · 16/08/2024 17:27

2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter - USA or NZ?
1 week European sun holiday in May - Benidorm or Monaco?
2 week European holiday this summer - Majorca or South of France?
1 week U.K. break this summer - Butlins or Center Parcs?
1 U.K. city break long weekend - London or Hull?

Without any additional info how is anyone supposed to know?

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 16/08/2024 17:30

Are they eating on the plane or getting a Boots meal deal?

Laundryliar · 16/08/2024 17:31

Pointless question. So many things that could make a difference - if outside the school holidays it could probably be done for 1/3 of the price. If they carefully picked flight dates the prices vary enormously. Airbnb costs could be really reasonable or it could have been an expensive hotel suite.

Ive got several holidays booked for next year and without knowing the finer details you could assume ive spent triple what i have. Eg staying with a cousin for part of a trip so reduced accomm costs, or had air miles to use so cheap flights for another.

Im assuming you're observing a couple you know, and wondering how on earth they've managed all these holidays? Can only be one of two things:
A) they spent loads, because actually they earn more than you realise/ are more financially comfortable than you realise
B) they didn't spend loads, there are details you don't know that have made these hols more economical than you realise

Just for the flights and accommodation, or do you mean including all their meals and spending money as well?

I'm more interested in how much annual leave they both get, to be honest!

Or they could be WFH😂

Riapia · 16/08/2024 17:34

Everybody.
Prepare to be amazed.
If you give a flying fuck.
😉😁😁😁.

PS. I don’t.

Sorry OP.

Ineffable23 · 16/08/2024 17:35

I usually do about 4 weeks European travel a year for about £3000 for me, including solo travel and my spending while I'm there, so I think this will depend massively on the level of bargain hunting done, as I'm prepared to say I could do it for significantly less than some of the numbers being mentioned here.

viques · 16/08/2024 17:38

Did they use their Tesco vouchers? Probably had to top them up by at least £276.00.

CoastalCalm · 16/08/2024 17:40

£9,768.23

circular1985 · 16/08/2024 17:41

Not enough info but anything between 12k and 20k

invisiblecat · 16/08/2024 17:41

£7,842.

Coconutter24 · 16/08/2024 17:41

“How much do you think this has all cost in total?!”

Why?

5128gap · 16/08/2024 17:42

I could do that for £6k I reckon avoiding school holidays, using budget airlines and picking cheaper destinations. All 'long haul' and all 'European' or 'City breaks' are not equal.

DancingNotDrowning · 16/08/2024 17:43

i work on £1k per day for a couple pretty much regardless of location so I’m saying £45k

Same! Lol ... that's at least 30 days holiday! Extravagant stuff :D

JosieRay · 16/08/2024 17:47

I’m guessing around 30k
