How much do you think this couple spent this year?

Cherriesfloss · 16/08/2024 16:26

  • 2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter
  • 1 week European sun holiday in May
  • 2 week European holiday this summer
  • 1 week U.K. break this summer
  • 1 U.K. city break long weekend

For 2 adults. Travelling comfortably in a nice standard of accommodation, not budget but not lavish either. So eating out at nice enough places but not champagne & oysters for every meal!

How much do you think this has all cost in total?!

Oh I don't know. A million?

It's got to be more than fifteen quid. Think about it.

Well, not necessarily, they could be influencers who blagged the lot for free, or work for a tv company making films about how to travel the world to show us poor people what we are missing . Or perhaps they are international spies tracking down a stolen radioactive thingamajig across many continents and to evade discovery they are disguised as holiday makers.

Or is one of them Katie Price looking for a decent cosmetic surgeon and evading court dates?

BunnyLake · 16/08/2024 21:22

I wonder if we’ll ever know.

My guess £25k.

GiddyNavyJoker · 16/08/2024 21:24

£15k to £20k?.

Why does it matter? Smells of jealousy.

Sometimesright · 16/08/2024 21:29

Well I worked out last year our holidays ( with careful shopping around) cost us around £4500 b&b three different Greek islands five weeks in al.l we spent £4000 on restaurants trips etc . So add on another £1500 for good luck I’ll guess at £10000

Entirely depends on the accommodation and board type. Total guess haven been on many similar trips:

2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter - £6k all inclusive
1 week European sun holiday in May - £2k B+B plus £1k spends
2 week European holiday this summer - £4K B+B + £2k spends
1 week U.K. break this summer - £1k self catering plus £500 spends
1 U.K. city break long weekend - £500 B+B plus £200 spends

Total £17,200

Pipsquiggle · 16/08/2024 21:44

£9k to £12k

Everyoneesleistheproblem · 16/08/2024 21:55

Long haul can be anything from expensive flights and expensive cost of staying ie USA or Australia to reasonable flight and dirt cheap to stay like India or Thailand or something in between like South Africa.

£12k maybe?

Zotter · 16/08/2024 21:57

12–16 k

Guavafish1 · 16/08/2024 22:01

10k

If it's all out of the kids school holidays times then not that much!

PurBal · 16/08/2024 22:05

Sooooo many variables

VaccineSticker · 16/08/2024 22:07

Is like asking: How long is a thread?!!
You can spend very little doing these hols going self catering/cheap airbnb house share etc or you can go absolutely mad with it all.

invisiblecat · 16/08/2024 22:09

Seems like the OP has gone off on holiday again.

DogDogGoose · 16/08/2024 22:10

Depends where you go. We spent around £5k on a week in NYC and £2k on Barcelona. So I would guess around £30k

asbestosmouth24 · 16/08/2024 22:12

who cares 😴 🙄 but I hope they had a good time.

Summerose · 16/08/2024 22:19

What's it got to do with you, how much somebody spends.

If a reverse, again, why should we care what you spent on holiday?

It's a free world, and everyone is entitled to living as they please as long as it's not criminal.

AlleycatMarie · 16/08/2024 22:25

I’d go 7-8k

ZenNudist · 16/08/2024 22:28

£23,500

I mean, how long is a piece if string? I'm estimating £10k for the long haul but if theg went to an AI resort place in Mexico or Mauritius if could have been cheaper than their 2 week euro holiday which I'm estimating £7k. 1 week Europe holiday is £5k,1 week UK is £2k including food and trips.

titchy · 16/08/2024 22:36

So many of these threads... yawn.

Swrfannies · 16/08/2024 22:36

really?? Who cares, get a life!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 16/08/2024 22:37

2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter - £2k
1 week European sun holiday in May - £1k
2 week European holiday this summer - £2k
1 week U.K. break this summer - £500
1 U.K. city break long weekend -£200

So about £6k. Although obviously it depends a lot on which countries you went to, Europe covers places like Croatia and Bosnia and Latvia which are obviously much cheaper than Iceland, Spain, France etc. Similarly long haul could be somewhere expensive like Bali or Singapore or New York or somewhere that food and and accommodation will be relatively cheap like Sri Lanka or Kenya. I’m also assuming ‘this summer’ means June/ July during term time and not August/ school holidays. If all your trips were in the school holidays you could probably double my estimations.

Posters that don’t come back should be banned. Willing to die on that hill.
