How much do you think this couple spent this year?

  • 2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter
  • 1 week European sun holiday in May
  • 2 week European holiday this summer
  • 1 week U.K. break this summer
  • 1 U.K. city break long weekend

For 2 adults. Travelling comfortably in a nice standard of accommodation, not budget but not lavish either. So eating out at nice enough places but not champagne & oysters for every meal!

How much do you think this has all cost in total?!

Another 'you guess and I'll wait until about 8 pages in before I answer' thread. Yes, I have just popped in from aibu, yabu not to have revealed a figure 😉

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 16/08/2024 18:17

£17, 652, 03

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 16/08/2024 18:20

No idea at all. But, I'm hoping that the OP will explain how by planning carefully, using vouchers, tracking flight prices, stacking deals etc., all of this was possible for < £2K. Otherwise, this will be an unsatisfactory thread.

Iasonnas · 16/08/2024 18:21

Fuck knows mate

Biggaybear · 16/08/2024 18:22

Really couldn't give a shit. Its their life they can live it how they like. Why do you care so much OP ? Do you think they are embezzling money or is one your ex who doesn't give you maintenance claiming poverty.

Bjorkdidit · 16/08/2024 18:25

KreedKafer · 16/08/2024 17:00

Just for the flights and accommodation, or do you mean including all their meals and spending money as well?

I'm more interested in how much annual leave they both get, to be honest!

There could be 3 BHs within that time plus they could have accrued TOIL so not a huge amount of AL needed.

invisiblecat · 16/08/2024 18:26

I've lost interest now anyway.

ChicaneOvenchips · 16/08/2024 18:26

I think £10k.

2 weeks long haul holiday at Easter = £5k
1 week European sun holiday in May= £1.2k (assuming not in school hols)
2 week European holiday this summer= £2k
1 week U.K. break this summer= £1k
1 U.K. city break long weekend= £800

TooTiredOfThisShit · 16/08/2024 18:30

How could anyone have any idea?! A holiday cottage in the UK could set you back anywhere between £400 and £3k for a week. A meal out for two could be anywhere between £25 and £200. Any estimates could be out by almost a factor of 10.

How many wonka bars did they have? Divide that by two.

SillyNavySnail · 16/08/2024 18:37

£8,000.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/08/2024 18:38

Caspianberg · 16/08/2024 16:31

£6-8k.
Thats 7 trips. If you average £1k a trip. The uk weekend and week break prob cheaper, May is cheaper time to travel, so is April long haul. Long haul more

6-8k? In total?! YOu're joking, aren't you!

DH and I went to the Caribbean go to get married in 2000. 2 weeks in a normal all inclusive hotel there with Thompson, including return flights, cost us around 3k. Any wedding stuff was on top. I remember because the 3k figure sticks in my mind - we opened a special joint account to save up for it and it took us about 18 months to save up.

One meeeeellion pounds

🤣

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/08/2024 18:39

NAndJIsLockingDown · 16/08/2024 17:05

This looks pretty similar what we did pre-covid, except we stayed in 5*s and travelled first class.

Our total spend was usually around £50k, so I'd price your itinerary at around £20k.

This soundds more realistic. Depends if school holidays are involved though.

Toottooot · 16/08/2024 18:41

Nothing - they got it all for free #prstay #giftedstay

Pickled21 · 16/08/2024 18:42

More than I can afford but they clearly can so good for them! Unless they are coming to you with a begging bowl, why are you bothered? If they can afford so many holidays I don't see why it would bother you or anyone else.

lightand · 16/08/2024 18:43

£16k

I am going to guess they did things unconventionally.
Or you have a big disapproval.

Mygosh · 16/08/2024 18:43

Twelvety pounds, as Tubbs once said 😆

youngestisapsycho · 16/08/2024 18:48

£12-14K

KingOfPoundbury · 16/08/2024 18:48

One didn't spend a penny. You paid for it all !

But then that's only correct under the circumstances, although one does appreciate it, and we thank you for that.

Justgorgeous · 16/08/2024 18:49

Nothing. It was all a dream.

Garlicfest · 16/08/2024 18:49

I'm guessing (why am I bothering?) £11k but that's at the prices I would pay if I could. It'd be more like £30k if they're the kind of trips I would prefer.

I really hope you're going to come back and tell us exactly how you managed to get this lot for £2k!

Madamecholetsbonnet · 16/08/2024 18:51

About £15k

HotCrossBunplease · 16/08/2024 18:51

15 to 18k.

Why do you ask?
