The miserable weather is making me think of holidays! Where is the most beautiful place you've been to on holiday? Mine is a draw between Hoi An in Vietnam and the Alps in the summer. Oh to be back at either places...!

I don’t live too far from Banff, Lake Louise or Lake Minnewanka. Very lucky to see mountains from all the windows in my house. I can see the Three Sisters from my bedroom window.

The west of Ireland. I recognise that coastal Kerry is just stunning but I prefer West Cork.

Maui in Hawaii was the only place that compared for me. Stunning.

Clare and Galway too!

Also the Lake District, Yorkshire.

There's no more beautiful scenery anywhere else than in the UK and Ireland. We just have a weather problem!

My first holiday with late dh was to Loch Linnhe, West Coast of Scotland. Gorgeous scenery and happy memories.

Peace Garden at Chalice Well, Glastonbury.

Has the most peaceful energy I've ever felt!

I agree. Magical energy

Pennyslot26 · 03/01/2024 01:23

The lakes in Montenegro

Gold Coast in Australia

Ravello, Amalfi Coast in Italy

It will always be coastal for me/ Olu Deniz in Turkey was my favourite until I went to Australia last year. Whitehaven Beach in the Whitsundays took my breath away
and I still can’t believe this was a photo I took.

It’s an interesting question - I’ve been to a few places mentioned and while yes, the scenery has been stunning, I’ve not enjoyed it as much as other places. Thinking of the Canadian Rockies, where inevitably a coach load of tourists would turn up just as you were enjoying a view (totally aware we were adding to the numbers!)

The places that stick in my mind in terms of the whole experience are Crete (especially Samaria Gorge), the Alps in summer time, Langawi, a few places in Australia- always remember cycling to Cable Beach near Broome at sunset & having the whole expanse of the ocean to myself. Lichfield National Park had just opened when I visited & it was totally unspoiled & hardly anyone there.

Most of my far-flung trips were decades ago and I’m sure that they are busier & more developed now
