Corfu, from London. We got strip searched in France and nearly died in Switzerland when our Luton van nearly run off the road. Best days of our life.

TeaandHobnobs · 04/10/2023 23:55

London to Paris, Florence, Siena, Rome, Livorno by train, then on to Corsica by ferry. Did fly home from Corsica though

lanadelgrey · 04/10/2023 23:55

London to Hong Kong and then back via Central Asia. Mostly train with the odd bus/coach. Lots of fun but not doable now sadly.

decionsdecisions62 · 05/10/2023 00:04

Singapore to Bangkok probably

nocoolnamesleft · 05/10/2023 00:05

St Petersburg.

TakeMe2Insanity · 05/10/2023 00:05

London to Spanish boarder.

garlictwist · 05/10/2023 00:06

Ive been Leeds to Naples. Years ago when I was a child you used to be able to put your car on the train in Calais so we did that every year to go to italy. I don't think they do that now.

TakeMe2Insanity · 05/10/2023 00:06

Toronto to Florida and back by car.

Cheesenpickleontoast · 05/10/2023 00:06

Coach to Slovenia from London - 36 hours.

Car and ferry to Northern Spain - can't remember the time as I was desperately sea sick.

Train from London to Edinburgh - just under 5 hours. Great trip. Booked early for cheap tickets.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 05/10/2023 00:08

When I was a kid we used to go from Uk back to my parents country Hungary by car and ferry. Dover to Ostend. I drove the journey once as an adult with dm for old times sake.

caringcarer · 05/10/2023 00:12

Italy.

Robotalkingrubbish · 05/10/2023 00:14

Leicester to Lisbon and back.

Dogsitterwoes · 05/10/2023 00:14

Essex to Denmark on a coach via Dover ferry then driving up through Europe.

Lifeinlists · 05/10/2023 00:16

West Midlands to Venice by train. Via Paris, Zurich and Milan. Thoroughly recommend it.
Also same to Dresden via Frankfurt.
Regularly travel all over France either train or car. TGV is amazingly quick and smooth.

So much more to see when you travel this way.

MrsAvocet · 05/10/2023 00:23

Probably NW England to central Spain as is my longest single plane free journey but I've had several holidays touring around Europe that have been either car - ferry - car or train- ferry - multiple trains. I really like train travel in other countries as I think you see a different side of a place when you use public transport, and if you're visiting cities the train generally takes you right into the centre. Trying to persuade DH we should do an inter railing type holiday soon actually, but he's never done it and is very attached to his car!

Flossflower · 05/10/2023 00:25

London to Crete

erlangshen · 05/10/2023 00:30

Road trip from uk to spain through France, visiting family and lots of places along the way. We drove back through a different route to see other parts of France then back to UK.

Road trip around the south ialand of NZ, we did a loop, from the top of south island through the east coast down to Stewart Island, then back through the west coast.

Driving from Chrustchurch to Auckland in 2 days once in NZ.

One road trip from France, through Belgium, Luxemburg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, south of France then back to the north of France.

38 hrs trip by overnight train in China from Nanjing to Guilin, that was more than 20 yrs ago before high speed trains.

Im not sure which one is the longgest though.

Amazongirl9 · 05/10/2023 00:33

Kent to northern Italy. When I was a lot younger.

erlangshen · 05/10/2023 00:35

MumofSpud · 04/10/2023 23:30

36 hours across China - train 3rd class (wooden benches)
My butt was young and my back was pre sciatica Grin

Haha I beat you 😂, I took a 38 hrs train journey in China. I was very young too, but I had a cabin and bunk bed, was fun until I got train sickness.

angerelle · 05/10/2023 00:41

@ProvisionsOnTheDock it was a great trip, loved being on a sleeper, seeing so much of the U.S. and taking our meals with random strangers.
