London to Athens and Istanbul and back.

Helsinki to Prague, via Budapest.

Hopefully in a few years I'm going to get the chance to try out all the new sleeper routes they're bringing in around Europe...

I once got a bus from Munich to London. It was hell. Thank god for flying.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/10/2023 22:46

Krakow from London

Lisbeth50 · 09/10/2023 22:51

Switzerland

Clingfilm · 09/10/2023 23:03

Gosh, completely forgot I once went on a coach trip to Brussels...
on the back of this I'm putting more non plane travel on my to do list, though at the end of the day, we do live on an island, and I'm quite far from the chunnel or any ports so it's tricky, but doable.

Karwomannghia · 09/10/2023 23:04

Malta but lots of stops on the way

Emmalin · 09/10/2023 23:07

Moscow to Beijing. Not non-stop!!

weegiemum · 09/10/2023 23:13

Scandinavia. Ferry from Newcastle-Bergen then 3 weeks touring Norway and Sweden, then boat back to Newcastle and train home to Scotland.

StEtienne93 · 09/10/2023 23:30

Paris, from the midlands. Went on a coach through the channel tunnel.

Toddlerteaplease · 09/10/2023 23:41

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 10/10/2023 07:09

Nairobi to Windhoek in a very circuitous route, but I flew to Nairobi.

From home, I've driven Sheffield to Chamonix (about 850 miles), with the Dover-Calais ferry.

missusvontrap · 10/10/2023 07:09

Greece when interrailing

SquigglePigs · 10/10/2023 07:19

From the Midlands to Geneva, via Paris. Love the trains! Much less stressful than flying.

Cyclistmumgrandma · 10/10/2023 07:35

Last month. Halifax (Nova Scotia) - Montréal - Ottawa - Toronto - Jasper - Banff - Vancouver - Vancouver Island - Toba Inlet - Victoria - Seattle. A combination of trains, hire cars and ferries.

gotomomo · 10/10/2023 07:36

New York, queen Mary 2. Also Seattle to anchorage using - coach, 3 ferries and a train

gotomomo · 10/10/2023 07:36

Italy and Spain many times too

gettingolderbutcooler · 10/10/2023 07:42

From southern India to rajasthan.
Many hours of a numb bum on trains.

gotomomo · 10/10/2023 07:44

Would like to travel overland to Australia by motorcycle but struggling to avoid war zones and countries that don't allow entry, unless we can get permission to go through Iran or China (unlikely) we would need to go through Afghanistan which isn't safe. From Jakarta the only option is cargo ship and fly ahead unless we could take the bike on a cruise ship or find someone sailing from Bali to Australia (there's public ferries until there)

Ted27 · 10/10/2023 07:48

Overland truck from Nairobi to Cape Town

6 week loop of Kenya and Uganda, 6 weeks down through Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe
6 weeks down through Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa

Gobolino80 · 10/10/2023 07:51

Rotterdam by train via the Eurostar. We went on a mini back packing trip for my 40th and made it up as we'd went along. It's one of my favourite holidays ever, I love travelling by train.

TeenDivided · 10/10/2023 07:53

North Cape, northern Norway to see the midnight sun.

Venice.

(both starting from near London)

Splitscreened · 10/10/2023 07:54

Ireland to Istanbul.

Though I met someone on Sunday who had just gone from Croatia to France and back on foot and hitchhiking.

LouOrange · 10/10/2023 07:54

I went to Amsterdam by bus when I was in my 20’s.

Dontcallmescarface · 10/10/2023 08:16

When I was a child we travelled back from Australia to England by ship.

Cismyfatarse · 10/10/2023 11:51
