What is the furthest you have traveled without using a plane on any part of the journey?

Morocco! Friend of mine and I went on a two month long "no plan" meandering holiday, all over Europe mostly. Ended up in Tangier for several days.

She had a horrendous fear of flying so the whole trip was ferries, trains, buses or cars only. And at one point a pony and trap. It was great!

Me too! Travelled by boat many many years ago.
Also Spain by train, Italy by car via France and Switzerland. The train to Spain was horrendous, back in the days when everybody smoked, sharing a sleeper cabin with smokers ( all of us schoolchildren) was dire!

Did a driving holiday in a classic car about 30 years ago and got as far as Gibraltar. Wanted to take the car over to Africa, but couldn't get insurance cover (so we cheated and flew over on a day trip).
