Thanks for posting. Econ at Southampton down 2 grades to BBB. I wonder if they rejected ppl first time round who were not predicted AAB…

Just shows that the whether you get a place at particular universities to do popular courses is dependent on the year you apply .

It's quite shocking isn't it, one of the Exeter language courses is asking for grades BCC, is that right?

Bristol appeared to be in clearing last week on the Complete University guide but that's no longer the case. On the University of Bristol's own website, it also said they were in clearing (inc for home students) but it didn't have the new grade requirement, whereas on CUG it said it was equivalent to AAB (usual grade AAA). Shame it's gone as it would an option for DC if he doesn't get his first choice.

I can't believe how low the grades are e.g. for instance BCC for Law and BBC for Aerospace Engineering....I wonder what the rate of 2-1 (or above) degree classifications are at Surrey. Can't imagine any law firms would accept people with less than AAA for a-level and a 2-1 degree.

Nottingham have a lot of tough courses offered at BBC!

Well this could either suggest that Surrey is highly effective at improving outcomes for low-achieving students, or that it's only a minority with such low grades (< 25%), or that the estimate is based on previous cohorts where they didn't have to lower their grades to such an extent.

@Fabfabfab there is no standard for university grades so I'm not sure all 2.1s or firsts are equal.

I did check out the Bristol list but their grade requirements seemed to be much the same as normal.

A couple of unis I suspect their contextual offer will actually become their clearing requirements.

It was lower on the Complete university guide last week but could have been a mistake, or the IB students (or international) may have applied for the places as they already have their results. I don't think Bristol tends to go into clearing usually.

You can do a very wide range of courses at Notts with BBC or ABD or A*BE !!
