Anyone else waiting for Bristol accommodation? Wonder what time the email will come through. Dd and I are both exhausted today after driving Dd3 (14, autistic and extremely anxious) to her residential camp and persuading her to stay.

Thinking of the Bristol peeps today 🤞🏻. Hoping they get at least one of their 1st choices. DS deferring but has chosen which accommodation he’ll apply for. He wants to be up in Stoke Bishop but really liked Goldney too. I was in Manor Hall back in ancient times.

DS has his driving test this very morning 🤞🏻

Still waiting to hear about accommodation here but dd says some people in her group chat are starting to hear so looks like UCL are starting to roll out the offers

@Dobbyismyabsolutefav - re the freshers tickets everything I have heard and read suggests NOT rushing to buy these far in advance. There's a lot of pressure to buy them before they sell out etc but in reality they are often available right up to the last day. Also many of them purport to be 'official events' but actually are a bunch of students trying to make a fast buck with a series of nightclub trips.

DS1 (3rd year uni student) says to wait until you've found your flatmates at the very least or else you may all end up booking for different events, and in the first week the freshers tend to go out with their flatmates.

(This doesn't apply to booking events with clubs and societies however - these are 'official' ones through the students union).

Can I join this thread? DD wasn’t redirected from Oxbridge, though the redirection from some of her drama school applications was just as painful! Horrible to watch your bright and talented DC getting rejected, especially after a long process and in many cases getting through to the finals but not quite getting the offer/s they were hoping for.

DD will be going to Exeter to study History and as she already had her exam results, she was allocated accommodation last month.

She’s signed up for a few of the freshers activities already but is waiting for the evening events to be announced/released.

Good luck to everyone waiting to hear re accommodation, I hope it’s good news, and it arrives soon!

Hi Avocado - Nice to see you again, over from the other thread .

DD is going to book an escape room thing I think, but as she is not a party girl, will be giving the "events" a swerve.

@Jng1 and @AvocadoPlant - Interesting both your DC's drama school redirects. DD will be joining drama groups, as that is very much her thing. She actually may be applying to Drama school post graduate - her dream would be RADA.

I'm not sure if they'll be told which flat they're in? So far DS has only been told which block, which narrows it down to about 8-10 different flats

@Jng1 - DD does know which flat she’s in, and she’s sharing with a friend who will be studying drama so I’m hoping DD will get involved in some drama groups there.

Goldney looks lovely!

DS got Culver House. He is happy enough with it. Personally I think it looks a bit ‘bare’ but there’s only 4 pics online and it is fairly central, so plenty going on by the looks of things.

Yay, dd got her first choice - Clifton Hill House Moving in day is 18th September.

I know so many people whose dc have been to Bristol who all say she 'needs' to be in Stoke Bishop but dd had a good look around when we went and she wanted Clifton.

Hope everyone else is happy with their accommodation.

Welcome @AvocadoPlant and sounds like several of our children are into Drama, mine included. Would be nice to know what accommodation my DD has hopefully an e-mail will arrive soon.

Eek! Can I ask how she found out her flat details @AvocadoPlant ?

@Stillcrikey Yes, I'm quite pleased but think he is a bit disappointed not to have got Stoke Bishop 'party central'. Not sure he's going to appreciate the beautiful gardens at Goldney as much as I would! Great shopping near Culver House, love Park Street.

@jng1 - yo be honest think she just emailed accommodation when she had the original notification. And of course because it was early they had time to respond immediately. But they did panic us by saying no parents would be allowed to help in the accommodation.
HOWEVER, when DD went online to do the induction and book her moving in slot this wasn’t mentioned so I’m assuming it will be ok.
