Phew @chopc! What a relief. So lovely to hear of all the movings in.

@BigWoollyJumpers, DS is now abroad for 10 months on a gap year. Deferred around April time I think (though have lost track of time a little). I’ve been quite pleased with myself as hardly felt glum as it’s so wonderful to hear how happy he is. He’s definitely living his best life.

So I’m vicariously living through all of you got the Uni stuff.

Interesting points re the second year freshers. Imperial had the main freshers events on sale just to the incoming first years for a week before they went on general sale so that probably helped - but noted your DC experience with the taster sessions.

We are without DS this weekend as he's over staying with a friend in Leeds - taste of things to come. Next week is pretty much back to back driving lessons in the hope that his instructor feels he can give taking the driving test a go 🤞

We’ve arrived in Bristol! Traffic terrible but hey ho. Staying in a fab hotel called Mollie’s Motel about 4 miles outside the city. Really modern and funky, I would definitely recommend to any Bristol parents. Car is stuffed full, Dh was bemused that everyone takes soft furnishings to uni these days 😂

Dd likes her hotel room so much she wants it for her uni room 😂

Thank you all! Really appreciate all your support! Next hurdle is finding out when he can move but have booked overnight accom on Sat night so have a bit of flexibility

We are here in Bristol. Traffic was busy but Bristol are at home to Saracens so that’s probably part of it.
Lovely meal out and having a drink now before heading back to the hotel.
Move him in at 10 tomorrow. We walked past the building earlier and the builders were still there (refurbishing the communal areas apparently). Hope they’ve bloody finished by tomorrow or he’s living into a building site!!
He is so excited though.
I may be a mess tomorrow but we shall see.

The system at Imperial sounds fairer @Pumpkintopf, it’s so hard to be fair to everybody.

I guess we should be thankful that our DC are able to enjoy a much more typical freshers and hopefully a more normal first year.

Car half packed for 3.5 hour journey tomorrow. Euphonium and trombone take up a lot of room as a starting point! Safe travels to everyone else moving around this weekend

Slowly steadily all our Dc are moving, let's hope it will be a great new chapter for them

I have both of mine going off to university tomorrow. We will be going from a household of 4 to empty nesters! This is after a birthday BBQ with friends and family tonight for DH and DD's 'big' birthdays.

(As we now have spare bedrooms we have signed up to have some of the Kabul refugees stay... mid life empty nest panic or my inner humanitarian coming out?? Both DC think it is a great idea.)

Ive followed these threads since they started but dont post often. Good to have a heads up that it is Bristol arrivals weekend ( we live here).
We're dropping DD at Warwick on Friday, so still have some last minute shopping to do. She seems to have booked a full program for freshers week, and got a place in her first choice halls.

"Another path.... the journey begins" gets my vote. I think we're officially "Another Pathers" now 😂

We haven't even thought about accommodation next weekend. If we can't get anything in Durham, we'll find something in Leeds or take the tent!! We have two to take to Durham so the car is going to be jam packed.
