Anyone else's DC starting at Warwick this September?

DS is going to do PPE. He's my eldest so this is new for us all.

Anyone had a moving in date yet?
I'm twitching as it's going to be a nightmare to get a day off in the week (I work in a school)

No date yet.. Dd would ideally like the 22nd.. I hoping we can both drop her off but if not the plan is to let dad do the carting of belongings on campus and we will all meet for lunch or dinner in Leamington. I've got some work in the area so we can go the night before or I can stay locally to see if she needs anything the next day.

My dining room looks like a bombs hit it with bags and boxes...

IAmTooBloodyHot · 06/09/2020 17:12

No date here either. It's ridiculous for those who have to book time off work isn't it?!

Does anyone know how long it would take to unload or how long they'll give us to unload? We have a couple of hours drive and trying to fit it in with the school run is going to be tricky. I need to know the date/time so I can arrange stuff.
Why do they take so long?

Keepawatch · 06/09/2020 19:08

I’m hoping they’re not waiting til after the 11th September which is the last date that they send out accommodation offers! Hopefully they will have slots for evening drop offs too as I’m not sure how I’ll be able to get time off work either. Other unis seem to be saying one person accompanying for a 2 hour slot.

Glastonbury2020 · 07/09/2020 19:38

Does anyone know if they are allowed to have a mini fridge in their room?

DuckyMcDuck · 07/09/2020 20:01

I don't think they are - pretty sure I read somewhere they couldn't have fridges, coffee makers etc

Dd has a great blender similar to the ones in Costa etc which she has used to make all sorts of smooothies, frappocinos, shakes etc. but I think it's best to leave at home and see how things go in first term.. Its only 4 months old so should be cleared for use PAT wise.

I think we have most things now but need to organise everything so it fits into the car..

DuckyMcDuck · 09/09/2020 12:52

DS received an email re moving in dates. He had to watch a fire safety video and do a quiz about what is and isn't allowed and was then able to book a slot.

He's got Saturday 26th 12-12.30 and all the weekend slots were still available (about 1/2 hour ago) although the website was slow.

Eeeek, all seems very real now especially as we were on our way back from Ikea, £100 lighter Grin

Thanks Ducky. DD has tried going on it but it won't load.

Frazzled6 · 09/09/2020 15:58

Dd also booked slot... Exciting times...

JumpingFrogs · 09/09/2020 17:15

Dd has booked a slot and is very happy to have a date at last. I'm just relieved it is not the same day as her twin sister, who will be moving into a different uni 150 miles away!

IAmTooBloodyHot · 09/09/2020 20:50

Gosh Frogs that would've been a logistical nightmare wouldn't it?!!

My Dd managed to get a slot eventually, it was very slow for a while. I reckon everyone was on it, trying to get the Saturday slots.

Did it say how long we can stay for?

Maladicta · 09/09/2020 21:57

Ds couldn't book a slot, he's been allocated one on the afternoon of the 27th. He has half an hour to unload. I know some of you are having a good experience with this, we decidedly are not...

Frazzled6 · 09/09/2020 22:01

Yes 30 min slot with 20 min to unload. I think weekend will be busy... We have opted for week day... (no work constraints)

Posidonas · 09/09/2020 22:06

Dd was allocated Bluebell, her 3rd choice and £198 per week. Not brilliant. She hasn’t heard about a slot, is that on the Warwick email or elsewhere?

IAmTooBloodyHot · 09/09/2020 22:22

@Posidonas yes I think they got sent an email but they have to log onto their accommodation login page.

Posidonas · 09/09/2020 22:41

Thanks @IAmTooBloodyHot, she says definitely no email grrr but I will see if she can log in

Posidonas · 09/09/2020 22:58

Argh she did have an email but the link doesn’t work at all, just goes to a blank page with a Warwick header. FFS.

Is it possible to copy and paste the address and try a different browser?

Good idea, I’ll try in the morning, so far we have tried on 3 phones, an iPad and a laptop but I think all were Safari. I realise I sound grumpy but there has been a lot of water under the bridge to get here and dd is at the point of pulling out each time something goes wrong at the moment. I am sure it’s just nerves but I don’t want her to go on in the wrong foot, and being last to arrive would not help.
Keepawatch · 10/09/2020 11:50

DD only realised this morning when others said they’d booked as she’s had no email either. The only availability was Wednesday (most of the day) which suits us.......so less than 2 weeks...so excited for her now 😃

Posidonas · 10/09/2020 18:02

We are sorted, the site was working this morning so booked Friday. All seems a bit real now.

IAmTooBloodyHot · 13/09/2020 11:09

So is everyone booked and ready to go?
We've done all the shopping now, I think. If there's anything we've forgotton she can always buy it up there.

Does anyone know how it all works with the Covid situation re drop off? I know you're only allowed half an hour to drop off but are we allowed to park up and go back? If so how long for? Surely they can't have everyone milling around with social distancing going on? Plus the rule of six coming in on Monday, how does that work if you are the last ones to arrive?

Posidonas · 13/09/2020 15:23

No idea yet about the drop off system.
Apparently they count as a household within their kitchen group so the rule of six doesn’t apply.
