Where are your DC still waiting to get offers (or rejections Sad ) from?

All offers are in here, except for... LSE.

DC not expecting to hear until March. It is going to be a long wait.

Really don't worry about being "good enough". If you are still waiting at this point for a competitive course, you are good enough.

Despite three rejections and a late March offer, DS went onto a first, a distinction in his Masters and is now studying for a PhD at a top 10 ranked US University. It is even said that one of LSEs Nobel Laureates was rejected a couple of times before gaining a place.

By University it is as much about character and interest as straight IQ. DS became complete absorbed in his subject and built a good group of friends who were similar. For him it was worth the wait to get on a well regarded course, with able peers and some very good teachers (and reference writers).

The ones who struggled seemed to be those who were over tutored at A level or those who lacked study discipline/interest.

Thank you Need. I showed DD your post. Hopefully it will persuade her to hang on another few weeks.

This is always worth a read:

www.princeton.edu/~joha/Johannes_Haushofer_CV_of_Failures.pdf

Aiming high always brings with it the chance of failing. But not aiming high guarantees failure.

UCAS applications is normally the first independent step many of our DCs have made in their new adult lives, and for many academic DC this is the first time they have really felt rejected. It hurts and can really undermine emerging self confidence.

However, things get tougher thereafter. DS had already had some experience, so was less put out when he failed to get internships or grad jobs. You try, you do your best, you have a realistic Plan B.

Having said all that, it is miserable, not least as they get closer to A levels and need to be able to concentrentrate. So best wishes to your DD!

D1 has finally heard from Edinburgh, they've offered ABB so the minimum offer for her course, she's quite surprised as she was expecting any offer from them to be AAB.

She's now wondering whether or not to put them as her insurance.

CatherineCawood · 04/03/2020 19:42

Theworldisfull she wants to study anthropology

Sostenueto · 06/03/2020 09:25

Kings College London has my vote. My Dgd has been waiting 5 months! She now says ' if they don't want me why don't they just get on with it then?'

Localher0 · 06/03/2020 09:56

We're still waiting for Edinburgh and Durham. It's really frustrating as they are his 2 preferred. Actually likes Edinburgh more but I expect Durham's offer, if it ever comes, will be higher......

ofteninaspin · 06/03/2020 14:50

DS is still waiting for St Andrew's.
I hope they don't keep him hanging on until the end of March to reject him.

ellanwood · 06/03/2020 15:22

LSE and UCL here. One rejection and withdrew from one, so only a single offer at the moment, despite being predicted A stars. Bit demoralising. He's really hoping for LSE, though the offer he has is, IMO a really great one.

Eve · 06/03/2020 15:30

Loughborough - though be be fair DS had interview on Wednesday and got offer Thursday evening.

For his particular faculty they shortlist then interview.

daisychicken · 06/03/2020 16:29

DS is still waiting for St Andrews, like ofteninaspin I hope they don't wait till end of March to send a rejection message.

Olympicfan · 06/03/2020 18:09

What subject? Ellanwood. My DD has just firmed LSE.

CoffeeHere · 09/03/2020 17:30

@Ellanwood what has he applied for?

ellanwood · 09/03/2020 23:08

@Olympicfan and @CoffeeHere Politics and IR. Have offers gone out yet for this course?

ellanwood · 10/03/2020 12:26

Thanks @Olympicfan. That makes very interesting reading. Where's the data from? TSR?

hattymattie · 10/03/2020 14:13

Still waiting in UCL Politics and IR here.

Olympicfan · 10/03/2020 18:13

@Ellanwood, it is on TSR on the first page of the LSE undergraduates' offer thread.

ellanwood · 10/03/2020 19:18

@Olympicfan - thank you.

Maladicta · 10/03/2020 20:32

Still waiting for Warwick. DS thinks he’s probably not going to get an offer as it’s taken so long. He’s now actively looking at the places he put on the UCAS form to fill gaps...

Theworldisfullofgs · 17/03/2020 16:50

Just had some great new from DD - much needed this week (all work has been suspended by clients and I'm self employed).

She has been offered a place at LSE to study International relations and politics. So happy for her. Smile

Hope those that are still waiting get good news soon.

ofteninaspin · 17/03/2020 17:16

That is fantastic news @TheWorld especially after such a long wait. Well done to your DD for securing an offer on such a highly competitive course.

Theworldisfullofgs · 17/03/2020 17:52

She was so miserable yesterday because of lots of reasons...she can't be the only yr 13 feeling like this.

And today she is thrilled.Smile

ellanwood · 17/03/2020 17:59

Really glad for her@Theworldisfullofgs. That's the exact course and uni DS is holding out for. but still no news here... Sad

Theworldisfullofgs · 17/03/2020 18:10

I hope he hears positive news soon @ellanwwod.
Maybe it means things are starting to move.
Her offer is AAA....assuming A levels go ahead.
