Where are your DC still waiting to get offers (or rejections Sad ) from?

All offers are in here, except for... LSE.

DC not expecting to hear until March. It is going to be a long wait.

Unis now have until May 20th to make offers, deadline has been extended.

ellanwood · 27/03/2020 21:01

@Maladicts - really? DS is still waiting on LSE which is his first choice, and though he thinks it's highly likely to be a rejection at this stage, he doesn't want to firm up an offer elsewhere without hearing from them. But this means all the best accommodation at his second choice will be booked up. It's so tricky to navigate this.

Dd2 pulled out of Heriot Watt. She applied in Nov so they had plenty of time to respond. She’s happy with her choices but frustrated that they didn’t respond

Theworldisfullofgs · 29/03/2020 09:03

Great news ellanwood and hattie.

There is still hope from LSE. From what I can see they have been quicker with the rejections.

ellanwood · 29/03/2020 12:17

@TheDrsDocMartens - sorry she had to pull out of Herriott Watt. It's a frustrating way to end the wait, isn't it? DS applied to LSE in October. It's hard to believe it takes this long to get through the early applicants.

@hattymattie and @Theworldisfullofgs - DS reckons LSE will definitely let him know tomorrow or Tuesday. Penultimate day in March is historically the day they hand out most offers apparently and then Tuesday most rejections. (Don't know where he gets this info from.)

TheDrsDocMartens · 29/03/2020 12:55

Her theory is that if they’re that disorganised she doesn’t want to go there!
It’s not a course with a lot of applicants and they normally interview so leaving it late doesn’t make sense.

Needmoresleep · 29/03/2020 22:53

Ellanwood, a few years back now, but DS got his LSE place almost at the end of March. It was a huge relief. It must be even harder this year with all the uncertainty our DC are facing. Fingers crossed your your DS.

ellanwood · 30/03/2020 17:44

@Needmoresleep - thank you. But he still hasn't heard. I am a bit hacked off with them tbh. He worked his socks off on his personal statement, went to their open days and lectures and got his application in really early. He's pretty sure it will be a rejection now as other people have heard today. He's trying not to get upset in advance, but it's not easy.

Needmoresleep · 31/03/2020 16:02

I wonder if part of the reason for delay is that LSE are delaying decisions on good applicants until they understand the impact CV has had on overseas student numbers.

Remember LSE is roughly 50% overseas, 25% EU and only 25% UK.

If my Facebook and emails are anything to go by, the UK and it’s response to CV has received a bad press in Asia, worse than is deserved, and probably enough to put people off. When we look back I suspect that China and India may not retain the halos their countrymen are busy adopting, but in the short term student numbers from Asia can be expected to drop. On the other hand the LSE may be facing constraints on how many of those places they can fill with UK students.

Fingers crossed that no news is good news.

(When DS was applying it was acceptances on a Thursday, rejections on a Friday. If you got till 4.00pm you were safe for another week.)
