Where are your DC still waiting to get offers (or rejections Sad ) from?

All offers are in here, except for... LSE.

DC not expecting to hear until March. It is going to be a long wait.

Durham and Edinburgh (English). Been told Durham could be March.

Serin · 30/01/2020 23:09

Durham were the first to offer DS a place within 48 hours of applying. (Early Nov) They offered ABB so he was thrilled with that.
Nottingham and Birmingham on the other hand, took so long to reply that he had already firmed Durham and York.
Birmingham offered A*AA for a course nowhere near as highly rated as Durham or Yorks. Guess he didnt tick their boxes.

Birmingham offered A*AA...

How did he manage to make his firm and insurance choices before receiving all decisions, without withdrawing from the ones which had not offered by then?

Peaseblossom22 · 31/01/2020 18:56

Presumably @Serin that is a contextual offer . It would seem that practically all the offers so far are contextual ones

Clonakilty · 31/01/2020 19:00

Durham here too. DC (who has took exams last year) got tired of waiting and withdrew. Has accepted a place elsewhere. Their loss.

Serin · 31/01/2020 19:22

Possibly Peaceblossom22, he is in a state school? But it's a fairly high performing one with several of his year group going to Oxbridge each year.
He does choral singing so maybe they liked that?

Serin · 31/01/2020 19:25

MarchingFrogs Sorry, firmed his decision in his mind.

Cranmer · 13/02/2020 16:51

I'm the OP. DC received an unconditional LSE offer this afternoon (grades already achieved). So happy for them. This is going to be their firm choice.

Has anyone else had good news since this thread started?

Thats great @Cranmer. DD did get her preferred insurance St Andrews make her a standard offer for History yesterday . She’s relieved and excited in equal measure, seems more achievable than the Cambridge one. Still no word from Durham. I think I posted elsewhere that her older DB and her twin both have had pre Christmas offers from Durham. She quite reasonably is bemused/perplexed by this. Same school, no flags , admittedly different subjects but even so.. She’s hanging in for a decision because she feels the need to know if they would offer or not even though there’s a pretty bitter feel to it for her now. I know goodbye posted a good argument for some opacity in decision making but it seems a bit... odd.

Olympicfan · 13/02/2020 18:21

LSE offer here today too! Geography.

Newgirls · 14/02/2020 12:43

We are still waiting to hear from Edinburgh for a science course (we live in England) - anyone else?

ClerkMaxwell · 14/02/2020 13:02

Just waiting for StA here. DD has been checking TSR and offers are trickling out for her subject to Scottish/EU students but since Scottish offers are unconditional she can't tell whether they are doing contextual first or giving out general offers.

Localher0 · 15/02/2020 09:42

Still waiting for History from both Edinburgh and Durham..... gah it is very frustrating. DS has mocks next week so I guess he'd like to know before going in to them but it probably doesn't make much difference. As I am still banned from talking about it I have even less insight into his thoughts than usual!

Newgirls · 15/02/2020 10:16

Glad it’s not just here for Edin - dd will need to visit so would be good to know to plan accom etc

ChippyMinton · 15/02/2020 10:50

Waiting for Bristol, having been ‘on hold’ since October. DC is less than impressed.

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/02/2020 11:30

Grandson still waiting for Edinburgh and Durham, for History. He's going off Durham and has decided it will be full of Oxbridge rejects (like him!) He has not visited it but if he does get an offer his Mum is insisting he goes to look, at least. He did visit Edinburgh in the autumn and loved it. If he goes the four years will be a big debt burden, although there are some scholarships for low income households . Three years at Durham would be better, but there are few things more obstinate than a teenager Hmm

Fifthtimelucky · 15/02/2020 11:49

I think with Durham it depends on the course. One of my daughters applied for music in the October and had an offer within a week.

But I also know of many people who applied for more popular subjects like history who had to wait for ages. Two years ago I took my daughter to an offer holders' open day at Exeter in February half term. Her friend had a rejection from Durham the same day.

cheeseandpineapple · 15/02/2020 12:29

Localher0, TeaAndStrumpets are you related?!

JulesJules · 15/02/2020 12:39

D1 just waiting to hear from Edinburgh.

Maladicta · 15/02/2020 13:21

Ds still waiting for Warwick

TeaAndStrumpets · 15/02/2020 15:39

cheese that would be funny but suspect not Smile

mimbleandlittlemy · 15/02/2020 16:31

Ds still waiting for Warwick. He is not impressed at all as they contacted him nearly a fortnight ago to double check something (that was clearly on his UCAS application) and he has heard nothing since. He's a bit over Warwick now as a consequence.

Dearover · 15/02/2020 16:31

I was hopeful last night as there were reports on TSR of Edinburgh offers finally coming out. Nothing. This is getting boring.

QuestionableMouse · 15/02/2020 16:34

Might be slightly different as it's for a MA but Canterbury Christ Church University is taking bloody ages. I'm not sure of the exact date but it must be nearly two months since I applied.

Dearover · 15/02/2020 20:17

UCAS submitted at the end of September. Still waiting.
