Where are your DC still waiting to get offers (or rejections Sad ) from?

All offers are in here, except for... LSE.

DC not expecting to hear until March. It is going to be a long wait.

DS got an offer from Edinburgh on Friday! We were pleasantly surprised as they had classed him as an EU applicant (despite being a UK citizen and resident of England since birth)!

Still waiting for Warwick though.

cheeseandpineapple · 17/02/2020 21:22

TeaAndStrumpets, suspect there are lots of history applicants still waiting to hear from Durham and Edinburgh, all the best to your grandson, hope he has good news from them both soon!

TeaAndStrumpets · 17/02/2020 22:54

Thank you!

DS got a (standard) offer for History and MFL from Durham last night (but no college allocation yet) and already has an absolute gift of an offer from Edinburgh. He is still waiting on UCL. Is it true that he can't firm until he's heard from all 5? He doesn't want UCL, even if they come back with an unconditional offer.

Olympicfan · 18/02/2020 07:14

You can firm Edinburgh before getting the UCL offer. You just withdraw from UCL, however there is no hurry to firm until May. My DD has firmed as accommodation is allocated on first come first served at LSE and only applicants who have firmed can apply.

MidLifeCrisis007 · 18/02/2020 07:40

@olympicfan thanks for the reply. I don't think he was aware that you can withdraw from a university before hearing back.

surreygoldfish · 18/02/2020 08:16

Still waiting on Durham (English) and DS already has grades so seems somewhat ridiculous.

MarchingFrogs · 18/02/2020 08:29

I don't think he was aware that you can withdraw from a university before hearing back.

This information is in the How to reply to offers video in UCAS Undergraduate, so he may well have found it already if he has investigated the website a bit further than just 'how to apply'.

DS also still waiting for Warwick. Claims he doesn't care at this point but is getting really ratty about little unrelated things and is a hair away from telling his physics teacher what he thinks of him so I'm pretty desperate for the last offer to come in before he does something regrettable.

He's off skiing with the school this week so hopefully he's had a week off from thinking about bloody UCAS. Unfortunately, said physics teacher assigned a large project two days before he went and told him that he'd have to take it with him and do it there, which he has no intention of doing, so there's a flash point incoming.

hattymattie · 19/02/2020 10:49

Hi - can I join - EU student here waiting interminably for news fro Edinburgh and UCL (Politics and IR).
Warwick were the first to reply so thankfully we have something.

Dearover · 19/02/2020 14:00

Hattie there have been a few politics & ....joint hours offers coming out over the last few days. It does seem painfully slow if you are RUK or an EU applicant for humanities subjects.

mimbleandlittlemy · 19/02/2020 14:11

Sounding like a broken record.... still waiting for Warwick... All the STEM people ds knows got offers from Warwick in days. Wonder why Modern Languages are so rubbish.

MeganBacon · 20/02/2020 00:30

another one just waiting for durham

ThePreviewPoster · 20/02/2020 08:38

Manchester - FFS. The others were all in within two weeks, but we're still waiting for Manchester two months later.

daisychicken · 20/02/2020 18:13

Manchester and St Andrews.. Like pp, the others were all in within 2 weeks. Is it a bad thing to be waiting so long?

Alittlewornout · 20/02/2020 18:24

Finally received St Andrews offer. Unconditional for maths. Hoping for 2nd year entry if AHs go as planned. Fingers crossed to everyone still waiting. Dd is beyond delighted! ( as are we!)

mimbleandlittlemy · 21/02/2020 15:33

Finally an offer in from Warwick! Rather a wonderful one too so ds thrilled and it's now all worth the wait as opposed to not wanting to go there. What a difference a UCAS message suddenly makes.

Dearover · 22/02/2020 15:55

DD finally heard on Wednesday that Edinburgh didn't want her. Luckily she has good offers from her other 4 including Oxford, so it would only have been an insurance at best. It saves me having to fund a 4 year degree, so every cloud...

Newgirls · 22/02/2020 18:50

Offer came in from Edinburgh so d will be going to visit st Andrew and Edinburgh tho the 4 year thing seems odd when the same course elsewhere inc Exeter is 3.

Dearover · 22/02/2020 21:03

Newgirls that is really good news for your DD. Do you mind me asking what she needs to get?

Dearover · 22/02/2020 21:06

I think a lot of the first year is devoted to getting everyone up to the same level as they come with such a combination of qualifications. A friend's DS started at Strathclyde in September straight after his highers for engineering. He was already boarding in Scotland & didn't see the point of staying on at school to do Advanced Highers when he would repeat a lot of them again at uni.

Theworldisfullofgs · 22/02/2020 21:09

LSE and Durham!

Dearover · 22/02/2020 21:12

I haven't heard of a single offer yet from LSE, KCL or UCL. Do think they keep everyone waiting because they have so many international applications to sift through? I've always assumed that Durham keeps everyone waiting to see who drops out mid January after Oxbridge offers are out, whole the Scottish unis are juggling their quotas and try to get all their unconditionals out of the way earlier.

Dearover · 22/02/2020 21:29

I also wonder if Durham will have a bunch of withdrawals around now having released the first batch of college allocations. That may lead to a sudden burst of activity. Where is your DD holding offers from theworld?

Newgirls · 22/02/2020 22:12

Dear over - it’s a science and edin asked for ABB for 4 years. No idea if 3 years is an option or not. She is predicted higher (but who knows!)
