General healthy eating and exercise thread with aim of losing weight / shaping up. Aim to eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, and do more exercise. No bizarre diets please. Weigh in day is Monday (you don't have to weigh in but we will punish you by with-holding stickers). Diet coke will be frowned upon.

scales def say i have lost another 2 lb
i think it must be because ds2 is feeding loads less (i have not been encouraging lots of milkies over last few days)
so basically i have lost a lb from each breast, great

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 09/07/2010 15:16

I would love to lose a lb from each breast. Perhaps then I could wear tops that fit properly instead of having to size up

I did weigh myself earlier this week and have stayed the same

Thanks for exercise tips. I think I have to accept that the truth is that there is a huge amount of cba in my "I'm to busy" excuses... there is no real reason why I can't do any of the things suggested.

I have been looking for ridiculonork exercise bras though and they are £££

graze this week was most excellent - fresh pineapple and lots of nut/chocolate/dried fruit type combos. Divine.

Just eaten mahoosive salad.

CoupleofKooks · 09/07/2010 22:08

evening chaps

tiger we can all relate to having no real reason not to exercise i would think
IME getting started is the hard part, and then continuing is usually easier because it is enjoyable and manageable
if i think about starting regular exercise sometimes i get overwhelmed by it ("i'm too busy! i'm too tired!"
but if i think "well i have 5 mins free, so i am going to get out the skipping rope right NOW" then you are started before you know it

cereal fruit etc = 3
beetroot salad - m+s have made this salad REALLY tart now, my mouth is cat's bumming just thinking about it = 1 or 2
some giant couscous salad, wild rice salad, bit of egg mayonnaise sandwich
chocolate
bit of french bread and butter
veg burgers, chips, broccoli, carrots = 3
ben and jerrys in a cone

8

well it was friday

ds2 is having a little party tomorrow but i am not doing the catering so i am feeling relaxed. relaxed except for ds1 has another lump on his gum which means another tooth will need to come out...am praying it can wait until monday or even better tuesday - then lovely swedish dentist can do it
he is not in pain but it is sign of infection, if gets bigger the tooth needs to come out
i am just in disbelief how much trouble he has had with his poor teeth, poor chap

morning, was ds2's party yesterday
he mostly sat on a chair with people giving him cards and cake and things and just looking pleased the whole time
ds1 had a couple of his cronies there and spent the time plaguing me and getting up to mischief! but a good time was had by all i hope

was not the best eating day for me, i didn't get time to eat properly at the party except a piece of cake, then i was ravenous all evening and ate lots of stodge

avi don't be surprised if your new scales don't think you are exactly the same weight
i think they can vary quite a bit

Happy Belated Birthday ds2!!!!

What did you get him for his birthday? We're now deciding what to get ds for his birthday in Sept (yes, I am horribly organised!)

I went to London with my sister and niece yesterday to watch Strictly Come Dancing - the Professionals. It was FAB. However at one point we did think we were going to melt on the Tube. It was SO hot and SO packed.

Today:

Banana on granary toast
nectarine
cheese scone
sun blushed toms
3 dough balls
pizza with spinach and onion (lets forget the huge amount of cheese on it!)
1/2 banana
lots of water

Not a great day food wise. Will be going shopping tomorrow, so I will have better FOCUS.

CoupleofKooks · 11/07/2010 20:03

oh the actual birthday is not till next sunday, he is still a 1 year old baby atm
i have several friends whose babies were all born this fortnight so we have a rash of parties, there was a bit of a scramble over the dates!
we have got him a Kettler trike off eBay which he is going to LOVE
i can tell already it will be the bane of my life
he will want to go everywhere in it, and you can't hang your shopping on a trike can you, nor can he take naps in it...

we went fruit picking today, if i have put weight on tomorrow it is pure strawberry and gooseberry power
my god those red gooseberries are good
i have eaten too much again today, and been irritable with the children
i hope i have PMT, the alternative interpretation is that i am a greedy nasty-tempered person

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 11/07/2010 20:07

cereal raisins blueberries strawberries rice milk = 3
crumpet and butter
jacket potato, coleslaw, cheese, salad, mayonnaise = 1
pizza, salad, broad beans, carrots, green cabbage = 3
an enormous helping of strawberries, red gooseberries and red currants = 5?
cream and chocolate sauce

i am guessing 12

al the fruit was lovely except the raspberries
will have to try again in a couple of weeks, they were pale and dry

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 11/07/2010 20:10

we have also got him a playdough spaghetti making thing as he loves cooking, spaghetti and playdough with equal passion
a little tin tea set in a little case - he will love it, he has a thing about cups of tea, and things he can pack away in a box and take out again
some drawing things - watercolours like ds1's which he covets very much, and a wallet of felt tips

am going to get some dressing up things - a sparkly hat and some glasses - and then try to restrain myself from getting much more
we do go a bit ott at birthdays
i enjoy it very much

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 08:11

morning veggers

have lost 1 lb

Franny - 1 lb - total 12 lb

period has started - totally out of synch - but at least proves i was pre-menstrual mardy cow rather than just random mardy cow

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 12/07/2010 11:30

morning

have stayed the same

I may have acquired focus after having seen some pics of myself out on the razz on Saturday. I look old, haggard, flabby, pale and fat That said, I had too much sun on Saturday and wasn't feeling well, the restaurant was baking and I was sweating perspiring glowing in a ladylike fashion all night, to the point where I had to dry my hair using the hand dryer in the bogs (dead classy me). I wouldn't have bothered going but it was a mates hen do and I generally only go out about twice a year so didn't want to miss it. God, the photos are awful

granola & dried fruit (2)
OJ
fruit salad (2)

5 and it isn't even lunch time

we got dd1 a playdough spaghetti thing at around that age Franny and she still loves it now. I adore birthdays too, I love to make a fuss. DH thinks I'm barking.

CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 18:16

oh you poor sod, i despise photos of me, i don't look like a stringy old twisty faced witch in real life, i KNOW i really look like sarah jessica parker

erm
a YOUNG sjp

anyway photos are evil and not to be trusted
however focus is good
i need focus
i am going out running again (been too hot but can't really claim that today) - had about a month off so no idea what i will be able to achieve - however i strongly suspect part of what i have lost the last few weeks is muscle [gloom]

ds1 had his other poorly tooth out, he is fab, i told him we would go shopping afterwards for something he could choose and he bought a mop

superb

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/07/2010 18:26

lol at the mop ds loves his friends hoover and spends ages pushing it around. Poor old ds, he's being very brave about his teeth isn't he?

The birthday present list sounds fab. You're very brave with the whole play-doh malarky. I am not a clean freak (infact I'm not even close to that) but playing with play-doh brings me out in a rash and gives me palpatations. Therefore we only play with it at Toddler group

I don't think any weight has been lost last week, mostly due to a spectacular blowout over the weekend.

Today:

banana on toast
2 nectarines
hummus, falafel and rocket wrap, cucumber sticks, cherry toms and olives.
2 nectarines
3 apricots
1/2 banana
cheese and tom quiche with salad (rocket, toms, cucumber and radishes)
strawberries and raspberries

about 13 portions I reckon

I'm off out tonight to go and watch Eclipse (Twilight film) with a chum. I am v v v excited

I too hate photo's, so much so there are very few photo's of me as an adult in existence.

CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 19:13

ooh have fun watching eclipse
i read the first twilight book and thought it was spectscularly poor
i mean the concepts were so great and the potential for swooning so high, (although really warped kind of submissive woman swooning), but it was all so abysmally written

then they made the film and
well
mr pattison is rather lovely isn't he?
i haven't seen them yet but my equally sad friend wants to see eclipse in the cinema so we are having a twilight dvd binge this week so i can catch up
i suspect they are going to be shonky films but since my jaw kind of drops open involuntarily every time i see robert p i doubt i am going to care

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 19:19

playdough - i am queen of home made playdough! making it is so therapeutic and then you get lovely warm playdough which you can add smells and glitter etc
i am ambivalent about the shop stuff
i don't find it messy (we have hard flooring) but i hate paint and food mess, so i can relate to what you're saying

ds1 has been super brave yes
he always starts off crying, saying "i am not going" and hides under the bed etc
then usually within about 5 mins he is getting his shoes on, saying "well i hope she just takes it out and gets it OVER WITH"
the dentist is fantastically nice though
really some kind of swedish angel in human form i think
i thank our stars for her
and he did get a mop out of it

lemur i would have thought you would photograph well
you have a calm face and lovely skin, not prone to pulling insane gurns as soon as a camera appears i would not have thought

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 19:24

cereal, strawberries, raisins, melon, milk = 3
pizza, lemon curd muffin
shepherds pie made with lentils, roast mushrooms, onions, and carrots, sweet potato and new potato mash = 3 or 4
asparagus and red cabbage = 3 or 4

am claiming 10 plus am going for run right now

Lost 1lb but I'm not happy. I'd lost 2lb at my midweek cheat weigh in! I need to find focus. I'm missing running and need to do other stuff but can't get motivated!

Help me FOcus!

Love mop! DD is really into My Little Pony at the minute and keeps going off in her room to play!

CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 20:25

yes i lost 2 lb midweek
maybe we should weigh on thursday

just ran 24 mins, i know time is a bit random but i just couldn't be arsed after that tbh
i don't know how to be motivated to do certain times etc without rawb telling me to

there's a 5k fun run in sept, shall i do it and try to do a good time (i mean a good time on my terms not some kind of PROPER good time)? or would it end in tears?

avi i think you must kayak
then rollerskate
then trampoline
it can be a surreal triathlon

pink why are you not running?

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 20:28

franny - 1 lb total 12 lb
tiger - stayed the same
pink - 1 lb total ?
avi - piss poor excuse about scales
lemur - playing it coy

avi that reminds me i still have photos of you to send and they are nice ones
you are the handsome family

ThePinkOne · 12/07/2010 20:38

There has been a serious sexual assault in my village. Dog walkers field, broad daylight. Since that there have been a couple of rumours about other attacks (possibly paranoia because of the inital attack) so would be really stupid to go out on my own. I've started running with a friend but she's not been running for a year so I don't even break a sweat with her yet!! We'll get there pace wise but we only manage about once a week. And I can't get out in the daytime, and I'm sat on here like a lazy twat instead of getting in the other room with my tae-bo video I am swimming once a week though, and I walked with some other friends the other night.

So all is not lost. But running on my own is better.

CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 20:41

oh heck pink sorry to hear that
with your friend, could you not sprint up and down a bit, within earshot of one another, but with you covering more ground? would she be offended?

OP posts:
ThePinkOne · 12/07/2010 20:46

Thanks. Yes I did the sprinting thing last time at the end and she was quite happy with it. We didn't manage to get together this last week and now she's on hols! I will do it next time though - we'll jog together then I'll run while she walks IYSWIM. Also with the walkers I could do it but I like chatting! I don't often get an evening out with friends!!

Shoule really get off my arse now! Will water garden then sort out video player.

CoupleofKooks · 14/07/2010 07:52

lost another 2 lb
we should definitely weigh on wednesdays
i am confused, i was trying hard and getting stuck a few weeks ago, now i am not really trying much and it is whizzing off
maybe i have just got into healthier habits?
or maybe the running has raised my metabolism [hopeful]?

anyway have lost 1 stone 4 lb in total from before the thread started
only 2 lb to go from what i was originally aiming for
don't know whether this is the weight i want to be or not, i really would like to be more toned (that is extra work though isn't it?)
it's hard to get out in the evenings unless i can take ds2 with me (asleep or otherwise), so gym is difficult
i have weights at home but harder to be motivated when your sofa is right there

hmm
how do you know when you are at right weight?
