General healthy eating and exercise thread with aim of losing weight / shaping up. Aim to eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, and do more exercise. No bizarre diets please. Weigh in day is Monday (you don't have to weigh in but we will punish you by with-holding stickers). Diet coke will be frowned upon.

oh good on you pink

liquised breakfast this morning - quite nice actually
no cup of tea though - no hot drinks for a week

going to be hot day here i think - i kept that halterneck dress from H+M that was too tight - it is only slightly too tight now

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/06/2010 13:54

How interesting Pink. When I get back into the working world I have thought about doing something like that. I may have to pick your brains.

Hurrah for the halterneck dress It's stinking hot here today and there is NO breeze. We were at a coffee morning where ds got very hot and played and ran around like a loon for two hours. He had a fab time, as did I catching up with the other mums.

This afternoon I've got a friend and her two coming round, so the parasol is up and the paddling pool is full.

Oh and apparantly there is a big game this afternoon. I had no idea England were playing until someone mentioned it this morning - probably because I couldn't give a flying about it!

CoupleofKooks · 23/06/2010 18:16

coo it was hot wasn't it

i ate a meal without liquidising it hurrah!
really not painful now unless i try to eat something unsuitable, i am amazed

oat banana ground almonds soya milk smoothie = 1

m+s banana and strawberry smoothie = 2
a nice soft egg sandwich

little bit of ds2's ice cream

pasta, pesto, carrots, broccoli = 3

only 6 but eating f+v is hard when your mouth has been dentisted

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 23/06/2010 18:18

oh and M+S wrote back about the thing in my salad
they say "we are at a loss to identify this object"
and a tenner

bit stingy i thought for the distress of biting on a hard object which is outside the ken of man

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 24/06/2010 08:48

sorry that sounded v petulant
am having shit day
can;t get to dentist as have boys again, am not going to put ds1 through any more dentist visits, and there is a big event on today which i don't want them to miss
ds1 got sunburnt yesterday as friend who was looking after him took to the beach and put no sun cream on between 10 and 3
and a charity event ds1 was really excited about tomorrow, has been cancelled due to lack of interest
we have collected money for sponsorship etc, this is the first time he has been involved with anything like this
so sorry for being arsey

CoK, rant away! It's fine. Hope the tooth improves. Slap lots of aftersun on ds and keep him covered up for a while. It'll all be ok. And hey the halterneck dress fits!!!

Avi, I work with Young Offenders just picking up the slack basically when the proper officers are too busy! I do some 'community service' (it's called reparation but people don't know what you mean!) and some constructive use of leisure time stuff and sometimes work on self-esteem, anger management, thinking skills, consequences, the effect of thier offence etc. It's interesting, varied, quite well paid and best of all I pick what I do and when!!

Anywho, the reaason I popped on is to say....

WoooooooooooooooooHOooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! I've broken my stone barrier!! I'm 9stone 13 and a half Just need to keep it off til Monday then I can declare it properly. But I was a bit excited and wanted a sticker!

(oh and £10 does sound a bit off for an unidentified object )

ThePinkOne · 24/06/2010 09:35

By the way CoK. Did you know that you can organise your own Barnardo's Big Toddle (although DS1 might be a bit old?) if you fancy doing something sponsored. We did it last year at toddler group and are doing it again next week. It can be whatever distance you choose - we just did a timed thing.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/06/2010 11:19

Rant away Fra. We all need a rant every now and then, it keeps us sane and kerbs the need for physical violence - or is that just me??!

It's a shame we don't know each other better otherwise I would happily come and entertain ds's while you go to the dentist. Can you buddy up with someone for such things like dentist and doc appts?

Had an ok day yesterday:

oatiflakes
2 crispbread, toms, carrot and cucumber sticks.
Strawberries
2 sausages, 1/2 a jp, cauli cheese and fresh peas.
handful of salted peanuts

Hurrah for the barrier breaking Pink Your job sounds v interesting. How did you get into that sort of work?

The bar snacks were necessary to fuel dh and I in our Super Mario Bros marathon on the WII last night

ThePinkOne · 24/06/2010 14:24

I'm rather a fan of chilli nuts Lemur. Lately I've taken to putting a few in a bowl/ramekin and that stops me polishing off the bag!

I got into my job through volunteering really. An organisation came into Uni to recruit volunteers, then I got a job with them, then when some of my hours got dropped (cause charity funding is a nightmare!) I applied to the County Council. I've been doing it for about 6 years.

pointydog · 24/06/2010 17:51

fran, I like hearing about your dental problems. Carry on ranting. Sometimes I love ranting.

CoupleofKooks · 24/06/2010 19:23

thank you chaps you are kind

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/06/2010 19:31

Well, we're too kind and you're too hard on yourself.

So, go eat some f&v and get listing. Talking of which:

porridge with sultana's
crispbread x2, 1/2 scotch egg, cucumber sticks and 2 carrots.
grapes, toms and cucumber.
Cheese oat cake
veg pizza
strawberries

maybe 7 portions and a walk to toddler group and back.

Done naff all this avo though as ds has a raging temperature and was stuck to me like glue. So I had an afternoon of sitting on the sofa catching up with what's on the Sky+, with a sweaty little boy laying on me napping on and off. Bless him. I hope he gets a good nights sleep and feels better in the morning, I'm not counting on it though.

well it's full moon on saturday avi so you are just synchronising
i am a bit out and mine is just finishing
ok having shared that i feel maybe dental stuff is NOT tmi

pointy what do you mean you LIKE hearing about my oral disasters, you sicko?

pink help yourself to stickers
in fact have a glass fish
well done that woman

lemur i hope ds is alright
it's sort of nice sometimes when they are just crashed out on you, reminds you of newborn phase
i have got occasional childcare and also kind friends that will help out with dses, but i try to save it for real necessities
i seem to have far too many days where i could really do with some help, if i asked / paid someone every time, it would be disastrous i think
very nice of you to offer - if a real emergency i would definitely take you up on it - the boys would be delighted to spend time with you anyway! we were talking about getting together some time, weren't we
i have been rubbish at organising social stuff
i just seem to muddle through and the weeks go by
is that what everyone does or do some people feel on top of it all?

right must go to bed
latest newsflash on mouth is that it is apparently normal for it to be all swollen sore and look infected
who knew
the receptionist said "oh i remember you DID have a hard time of it"
even the dentist's staff are sorry for me! i am professional malingerer!!

OP posts:
pointydog · 25/06/2010 17:52

glad all the terrible swelling is normal

weetabix and apple (ran out of o juice)
banana
ham and cucumber sandwich
3 thorntons chocs
strawberries

pushing over 3, I think. Will have meat and salads for tea.

CoupleofKooks · 25/06/2010 18:44

i was consoling myself with the thought that i would probably lose more weight because eating is so uncomfortable
however i have now discovered both ice cream and chocolate are pain free

ah it beat coming on here and whinging at you lot
that's my stress relief for the week sorted

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/06/2010 12:12

I muddle through from week to week and sort of organise activities along the way, although we do have some things on set days which is good and stops me from having to think too much!!

I am bad at making time for me. I'm overdue at the Dentist and I need to go for a smear, and least importantly I haven't had a hair cut since January. It's hard to find time for these things though isn't it?

We should get togther Fra, me and ds will take a trip over the border and come and say hello. Let me know when you're free.

DS is ok thanks, he had a bad night on Thursday and spent most of it in our (which I actually sort of liked ) then by the morning he was ok. So apart from a craps night sleep he was ok yesterday. Then last night the toss pot over the road decided to play really lour music at 1am.

It woke us all up. I went to bang on his door but another neighbour got there first who was very sweary.

DH is working this morning so ds and I went into town and looked around a vintage fair that was being held. I bought him this lovely wooden school chair that has been covered in Thundercats art work. It's fab

Oh well, on with the rest of the day. Have a good one

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/06/2010 12:14

Oh, and after that chapter and verse of my last few days , here is what I actaully came on here for, yesterdays list:

banana
crispbread and carrot sticks
fruit scone
plums
grapes
2 pears
pasta bake with chorizo, pepper, sweetcorn, toms and mushrooms.

Probably about 9 portions.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/06/2010 19:28

Me again

DH came home from work early so we met up with the b&sil and went to Long Melford for a dip here

It was chilly but ds was happy to paddle about and collect stones while dh and bil dive bombed off the side.

We then went to Pizza Express and have only just got back. We are all knackered, sun kissed and full to busting with pizza. It's been a good day

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/06/2010 19:29

this is a better picture. It actually shows more water rather than just a stream!
