General healthy eating and exercise thread with aim of losing weight / shaping up. Aim to eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, and do more exercise. No bizarre diets please. Weigh in day is Monday (you don't have to weigh in but we will punish you by with-holding stickers). Diet coke will be frowned upon.

yes i find it is all or nothing with sugar(well not literally ALL but LOTS)
for a few weeks sometimes i manage to indulge sensibly, but like virtually every other interesting substance in my life, i then go overboard, and have to stop altogether or suffer the consequences Hmm

CoupleofKooks · 19/08/2010 20:08

ack, another crap day for eating and i was grumpy as fuck with the boys
sleep deprivation really getting to me i think, i am jut not getting any long stretches of sleep and it is a pig

will list f+v and gloss over the rest Blush

the side of my ankle is hurting when i walk, it started last week after i ran for over an hour
i rested for about 4 days but it carried on, so i ran on it yesterday anyway

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/08/2010 20:11

sorry about the ankle and lack of sleep.

The sugar thing is difficult. You know you shouldn't, but it's nice and it's easy and it's instant gratification.

banana
weetabix
2 pears
tortilla with hummus and cucumber, olives toms and grapes
packet of plain crisps
pizza with lots of cheese, pineapple, toms, mushrooms, onion and sweetcorn

pointydog · 19/08/2010 20:18

Rubbish eating day here. In -service day not conducive.

weetabix, g'fruit juice
2 tuna triangel sandwiches and 2 chicken salad triangles and one little sausage roll
one cookie
banana
strawb yoghurt
some spaghetti and tomato sauce with some garted cheese

4 at a push. Bought-in lunches are dire for f&v.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/08/2010 18:39

weetabix and strawberries
pear
hummus & cucumber wrap, olives, toms & grapes
12 mini eggs - found an uneaten Easter stash.
veg curry, mushroom rice & chapatti

Probably about 9 portions.

Am knackered. We're off to stay at my parents for the weekend. I have no illusions that it will be a rest Hmm

CoupleofKooks · 20/08/2010 19:07

oh i did REALLY badly today
and my trousers feel tight
ds1 has this scheme of doing a cake stall for pakistan flood relief so we were baking all day - NOT healthy stuff
i am really pleased he has applied himself to doing this, but today all the neighbourhood children have turned up saying "can we come and help tomorrow?"
i am probably being a killjoy but i have an uneasy feeling about it
i imagine scenes from huck finn or tom sawyer or perhaps just william

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 20/08/2010 19:42

Hurrah for ds1 and the cake stall idea, how thoughtful of him. Enjoy keeping all of those boys under control!

Don't worry about tight trousers, tomorrow is another day.

pointydog · 21/08/2010 10:41

The cake stall sound slike a great idea. Good fun too. I like a big bake.

3 jacobs and gouda
strawb yoghurt
spicy chicken
lots salad leaves, beetroot, toms etc
one square chocolate (v disciplined)

whatagradeA · 21/08/2010 21:47

Sad Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp! How do I get back on the wagon? Today I had bacon, egg and tomatoes on toast, no proper lunch but a bar of choc and a bag of Haribo cause I was working then shopped on the way home and was knackered and starving. Then pasta with cheese sauce, tuna and veg and garlic bread, then more garlic bread with x factor.

I need to list again. I do, I need to start tomorrow and list for a couple of days til I get used to not eating all the time again and then I'll be ok when I remember that hungry is ok.

Thanks! Right. New focus tomorrow.

(I wasn't too horrendous. Grilled bacon, dry fried eggs, I added toms for a portion, stopped way before I could've with the pasta and gave myself extra veg.... ok i'll shut up, it was terrible. See you tomorrow.)

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/08/2010 08:24

You should have had beans and mushrooms with your breakfast as well as that would have been 2 more portions. I'm not helping am I??

Listing defo helps keeping me on the straight and narrow.

Am still at parents house. They took ds when he woke at 6.30 and dh and I had a lay in - hurrah.

CoupleofKooks · 22/08/2010 13:41

ruddy computer problems here again, won't see you for a bit i think
do weigh in and stuff and i will see you soon i hope
xx

OP posts:
pointydog · 22/08/2010 17:17

I have not verred much from the straight and narrow this weekend.

Today:

o juice, lots melon
boiled egg and slice buttered toast
kiwi yoghurt
carrot sticks and spicy houmus

tea will be lentil and carroty soup with bread, strawberries and cherry almond cake

I should end up with a robust 8 by the end of the day.

pointydog · 22/08/2010 17:18

That is veered obv

whatagradeA · 22/08/2010 18:59

Apple, banana, raisins. Crudites with cheese on toast for lunch (only 1 and a half slices) but DH pigged loads of the veg [grrr]. Then we went for a nice afternoon out with the ILs who bought us ice cream and donuts Blush. But then dinner was salad. 3 portions I think. So a decent 8 so far and my running buddy has suggested a run which I was planning to say no to but on writing this have decided to go.

Not bad. And if I want anything else to eat, I will have fruit.

Lemur, breakfast tip was helpful but I was against the clock! Had to leave for work at ten past nine! Well done pointy! I love carrot and lentil soup!

Hope the computer problems are sortable Fran. See you soon!

I'm not going to weigh tomorrow. For a rather odd reason! I don't think it'll be too bad. But I've eaten such a load of crap that an ok weigh in will justify it for me IYSWIM So I'm going to have a really good week and weigh next mon.

pointydog · 22/08/2010 21:58

I had pickled red cabbage with my tea as wel so that makes 9 for today.

Get your puter sorted, fran. What's wrong with ya.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/08/2010 19:26

Yes Fra, get it sorted!

Weetabix
tiny piece of plum cake
ryvita, hummus, guac, olives, cucumber, toms and grapes
chicken fajita's with roasted onion, peppers and mushrooms.

Probably about 8 portions.

pointydog · 23/08/2010 20:43

Still keeping the faith.

weetabix an o juice
banana
baked tater, cheese coleslaw, beetroot, salad
slice cherry almond cake

pointydog · 23/08/2010 21:50

yes, even when fran is away fighting the mighty computer, we struggle on.

whatagradeA · 24/08/2010 09:33

Fruit for brekkie yesterday, salad and bulgur wheat for lunch. Tea was using up leftovers and I had sausage and mash, not ideal. Then went to a friends and had crisps, nuts, dips, pear tart and wine. But you can't not join in at a party Blush

20 mins yoga this morning. Don't forget your exercise everyone!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/08/2010 12:43

It would defo be rude to refuse to join in the party imo Grin

yesterday:

weetabix
apple
grapes
2 ryvitta, hummus, guac, cucumber, toms and olives
smoothie
it all goes pear shaped from here
2 deep fried mozarella sticks
pepperoni pizza
Oh crap

I need a holiday. We're going away in the middle of Sept but that seems aaaaaaaages away at the moment.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/08/2010 21:24

Come on Pointy, where's the faith keeping?! Grin

1 slice of toast
1 slice of victoria sandwich
2 ryvitta, small chunk of cheese, toms, cucumber & olives.
Meatballs and pasta (sauce has mucho tomatoes, onions, olives and mushrooms)

Oh lordy, that's SHITE isn't it?

Come on Fra. We need a leader.

TigerFeet · 26/08/2010 10:07

We had visitors yesterday, someone who used to wear wellingtons of the pink polkadot variety and her dc's.

We (as in whatagradeA and I) were told off by my Mum for arguing over dd1's dolls' house Grin (I have finished tidying it whata. Grin)

There were biscuits and cake. It's all whata's fault.

I am not really posting or listing or owt because I'm not really vegging poperly at all. Many fine plans hatched, many excuses made.

whata looks amazing btw, a great advert for Veggers Wot Do Running.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/08/2010 18:24

pointydog · 26/08/2010 19:50

I lost the thread, never mind the faith.

I've been doing alright. I weigh 10st 7 which means I have lost 1lb.

In total, a loss of 15lb.

Todayu:

weetabix and o juice
banana
one choc digestive (I was really hungry last night and had two digesters and I didn't give a fuck because I was all emotional and tired, you know that way)
haggis, half baked tater, horrid stringy turnip
one choc digester
strawb yoghurt
cucumber, tomato, olive, feta salad

only 5. Not so great really.

Visiting people and eating cake sounds wondserful. Very Fran.
