CoupleofKooks · 21/06/2010 08:45

General healthy eating and exercise thread with aim of losing weight / shaping up. Aim to eat 10 portions of fruit and veg a day, and do more exercise. No bizarre diets please. Weigh in day is Monday (you don't have to weigh in but we will punish you by with-holding stickers). Diet coke will be frowned upon.

Yes, I am afraid so.

Shopping centre is a stone's throw from my back alley and there is a organic shop/deli/cafe.

pointydog · 14/08/2010 19:59

You are so cosmopolitan

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/08/2010 20:00

ha ha ha at Pointy Grin

If I lives near a shop like that I would be skint Blush

Guadalupe · 14/08/2010 20:03

lol, are you being just very slightly sarcastic Grin

there have to be some upsides to living on a main road in a city. Instant pie is one of them.

pointydog · 14/08/2010 20:06

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic, no! But it does come across like that, I think, on re-reading.

I think it does sound cosmoplitan and swish. I live in a dull small town. I am wasted here Wink

Guadalupe · 14/08/2010 20:10

ha, you should open a swish pie shop and put up adverts for uber trendy yurts on your eco board next to the olive wood salad servers.

pointydog · 14/08/2010 20:10

you see, that just seems very film-settish to me.Almost glamorous.

CoupleofKooks · 14/08/2010 20:16

hem HEM i know talking about hobbits and guad's pies is VERY MUCH MORE interesting, but i DID happen to mention that i ran 10 k and this IS meant to be a healthy type thread and i think SOMEONE should deign to notice it

what?

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 14/08/2010 20:18

i just don't like puppets much guad
they move like people and they can look alive but they are not - i don't like it
i think they fall into the uncanny valley effect for me
they definitely look like once they are hung up at night they might get down and start walking around when no-one is looking
probably with big old steak knives in their nasty wooden hands

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 14/08/2010 20:20

\link{http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley\uncanny valley}
it does mention puppets actually

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 14/08/2010 20:22

it's not glamorous, we live on the main road from city centre to the hospital via university and police station. There is a lot of traffic. And sirens!

Aw, Franny, don't drag your leg. You need it for running. Grin Running is of course very impressive. 10k very much so, and so aptly named. But my pie is very healthy. I think it might actually have ten vegetables in it.

CoupleofKooks · 14/08/2010 20:23

ok ok i am jealous of your pie
i am hungry
i have eaten dinner
i think some night i need 2 dinners

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 14/08/2010 20:27

yes, I know what you mean about uncanny. I don't like clowns much and a fair few dolls give me the creeps. I like puppets though, they are clumpy and wooden and if they are going to be creepy then maybe they would do it in a stupid way, like try to trip you up but trip themselves up instead and you wouldn't notice.

You prob wouldn't like the puppet theatre foyer then. They are hanging down from the ceilings and some are rather large and starey.

CoupleofKooks · 14/08/2010 20:33

yes the hanging is a problem i think
they kind of loom at you
i think they might be creepy in a stupid way but there might be a lot of them, and they might loom at you with their strings hanging down and you might get trampled with their clumpy big feet and you might fall over with them clumping and looming on you and you might not be able to get up

i need therapy don't i

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 14/08/2010 21:18

well, maybe Grin

CoupleofKooks · 14/08/2010 23:04

That uncanny valley theory is v interesting. Thanks for that. HaVE YOU read Pullman's 'Clockwork'?, fran? Probably best not to.

Your running is v impressive. You must be quite toned by now.

CoupleofKooks · 15/08/2010 10:21

Don't look at youirself without clothes. It's what you look like with clothes that matters.

CoupleofKooks · 15/08/2010 10:35

avi no don't jack it in Shock
why are you feeling like that?

my stomach is smaller but it's just the loose skin and stretchmarks
i aslo have this fab bit above my belly button which sticks out more than my lower stomach, which is reasonably flat
i presume the muscles have just gone wrong or something

pointy do you think so
i remember the days of looking better with my clothes off
that was really quite a long time ago Biscuit
