Girly · 28/07/2003 21:06

Thanks Kayleigh! Up my sins to 7 then.

Lilibet, a favourite in our house in chargrilled vegetables, I do mine on the George Foreman grill.
You should look at the SW website for more recipies, there are lots on there.

lillibet, what about some sexy onion rings for afters

winnie1 · 29/07/2003 09:12

Not really sure how it's going at the moment. Weigh in tomorrow... ate croissants and cappaccino's for breakfast x2 at the weekend and had a chinese (we were moving house and we have no fridge/freezer: it's arriving today). Why is it that stressful things happen when ones on a diet? :0 (I suppose the plan this week was just to maintain the weight I am...)

winnie1 · 29/07/2003 09:13

Crunchie how is it going?

Crunchie · 29/07/2003 09:58

Thanks winnie1, I've been a bit quiet lately, just checking in occassionally. I have been so busy at work, then spent the weekend with a foul cold. All I wanted to eat was ice cream - so I did!! Ho hum. However got back on the scales and somehow - please don't hate me - I have lost another 1lb or 2 (our scales are not that accurate). So I'll go for a quick weigh in tomorrow and make sure.

My holiday is in 3 1/2 weeks, so I think I'll try to go 3lbs under target (good for the bikini) and come back happy!

Mealtimes haven't been different from other days, hence not posted, but will start again. I'v just eaten the yoghury/bannana/porridge/apple combo and got couscous salad for lunch.

OK lillibet, I'll put my thinking cap on for posh nosh which is nearly sin free.

I know a lemon mousse pudding, it's in one of the books, but do you eat gellitin?

One starter which always works well is portobello mushrooms stuffed with couscous/herbs/garlic and topped with A choice cheese (feta or goats cheese are yummy). This will a salad garnish could be posh.

Main course could be a moroccan themed tagine. I have a recipe at home which includes cinnamon sticks, tumeric etc. It is lovely. With couscous and fry light instead of olive oil it is sin free. Hmm you don't want cous cous in the starter.

I must say I always theme dinner parties, ie Morrocan/italian/chinese and then check all my books for adaptable recipes.

lilibet · 29/07/2003 12:43

oh yes, couscous stuffed mushrooms is such a good idea for a starter, I do have a lovely recipie, which has pine nuts in it, but only about a tablespoon, so between four thats not many sins. Was thinking of doing Crunchies roast potatoes with a main and maybe do fish which I could have as a healthy extra (i'm not a 'proper veggie' I'm a piscatarian, but can never be bothered explaining that to people so just describe myself as a veggie) and then could do chargrilled veggies with it as well, if you would plase look up the lemon mousse? No rush as its only for a week on saturday, lemony puds are my favourite.

Where is everyone going for their hols? We are off to Brittany four weeks today, so I'm hoping for half a stone before I go, or if I could manage another couple of lbs that would be a stone in the time I have done this. I know I will put most of it back on, I will start off with good intentions but the baguettes and cheese like the onion rings will seduce me!

Girly · 29/07/2003 22:08

Weigh in day again, lost 1lb!!! phew

How is everyone else doing?

So today:-

Congrats on the weight loss.

Crunchie · 30/07/2003 09:18

Lillibet I can't seem to find the lemon mousse recipe. I know I copied it from a SW cookbook and it was lots of eggs, fromage frais, lemons, artificial sweetener and geletin, I just can't remember the quantities.

Right, weigh-in tonight, let's hope for a Lb.

kayleigh · 30/07/2003 10:55

crunchie, could the recipe have been in the sw dessert book. I have that at home (i'm at work today) so will check tonight for you lillibet.

Girly, well done on the loss. You're doing great.
Good luck for tonight Crunchie.

Yesterday I had a green day and :-
Breakfast - Fruit & yog
Snack - 1 apple
Lunch - Jacket pot + cottage cheese + salad with salad, dressing (2 sins), yog
Snack - 1 apple, 1 nectarine,
Supper - pasta, loads of grated cheese (A) + (B)+ ketchup (2 sins)
Snack in front of telly - 2 plums + Jordans bar (B+ 0.5 sin)
Milk in tea - 1 sin
Daily sins 5.5

kayleigh · 30/07/2003 19:40

lillibet, this is the lemon mousse recipe in the sw "Delicious Desserts" book - and it's SIN FREE !!

grated rind & juice of 2 lemons
170g (6oz) very low fat natural from frais
8 level tbsp artificial sweetner
3 eggs separated
1 egg white
2 tbsp hot water
1 sachet gelatine
pinch of salt

Put grated lemon rind & juice in bowl with sweetner & 3 egg yolks. Stand over a saucepan of simmering water & whisk until lemon in colour and beginning to thicken (approx 10-15 mins).
Pour the hot water into a small basin, sprinkle in the gelatine & stir well. Stand in a saucepan of simmering water and leave until the gelatine has dissolved.
Stir the dissolved gelatine into the lemon custard and leave until beginning to set. Fold the fomage frais into the setting lemon mixture. Whisk the 4 egg whites and salt together until peaking. Using a metal spoon fold the egg whites into the setting lemon mixture. Pour into a serving dish and refrigerate for 2-3 hours before serving.

If you take a look at the sw website today they have some really good ice cream recipes. The basic mixture is sin free but you can then add stuff to it. Looks really nice.

Hope this helps.

lilibet · 30/07/2003 22:07

kayleigh · 30/07/2003 22:22

good luck with the move lillibet
a whole week with no mumsnet ? bet you don't last out. you'll be going into work early just to get your mumsnet fix !!

winnie1 · 31/07/2003 10:11

Lilibet, thanks for asking (warning: your about to suffer withdraw symptoms!)... but guess who forgot to weigh herself this week (again)? Have had a much better few days though (mental note: must drag the bathroom scales out from garage full of things yet to unpack and weigh in the morning)
Yesterdays food intake: Piece of bread (B) 'lite' margerine (0.5 sins) 2tsp marmalade (1 sin);
banana
Sin free potato cakes & roasted tomatoes with garlic
necterines
sin free Spicy rice, moroccan style chick peas 'thing'
yogurt

lilibet · 31/07/2003 12:03

Ah, but i have limited access at work!
Whats your moroccan thing? Sounds interesting.

kayleigh · 31/07/2003 12:25

Crunchie how did you do at your weigh in last night?

winnie1 · 02/08/2003 10:35

How is it all going everyone?

I couldn't believe it on Friday. I lost 2lbs last week! Must be doing something right (although I think it's exercise as much as anything else).

kayleigh · 02/08/2003 19:58

Winnie that's great, you're doing really well.
I weighed this morning for my weekly weigh-in (as opposed to the weigh-ins I do every day for the hell of it) and have lost another pound. It's very slow going with a total of 5 lb in 5 weeks. I know that's a pound a week and i should be pleased but it feels like it's taking forever and I'm worried I'm going to give in
I need re-motivating. Help !

kayleigh · 04/08/2003 21:46

Ok where is everyone? I'm having a crisis and there's no-one around !
Went to Pizza Express last night with friends and all our kids. Restaurant wasn't my choice as too much temptation but I was good (or thought I was) and had a nicoise salad. How bad can that be - a bit of tuna and anchovy, an egg and some new pots (which i could call a healthy extra).
When I got home I checked the sin value and there are 36 sins in the salad. shouts{} THIRTY SIX. So taking off 6 sins for healthy extra potatoe that is a whoppong 30 sins. That must be mostly for the dressing as there wasn't much else in there apart from some lettuce.
I am gutted and wish i had checked my book first. i could have had a bloody pizza for the same sins and i'd have been much happier. And fuller
Have managed to stay on straight & narrow today apart from 2 ice lollies (4 sins each). Well it is exceedingly hot out.

Crunchie · 04/08/2003 23:07

Oh Keyleigh I am sorry that stinks doesn't it!! You try to be good and then wollop I can't believe that score is right, does it include the dough balls??

If it makes you feel better I've been avaioding this thread as I have been bad! I weighed in last week and had stayed the same (the ice-cream) so still 3lbs over target) then I ate a huse pizza at teh weekend and got totally wrecked on champagne on Thursday night and just had to have a burger king So if we are in competition about number of sins....well I can't be bothered to count!

Anyhow, bear in mind that is one day, if you have 5 sins a day for the rest of the week you will still be OK, and if you didn't eat the dough balls with the garlic butter you can minus 10 sis for the dough balls and about 11 for the garlic butter, so actually we are only talking 14 sins! less the 6 for the potatoes, and you are looking at just 8! How is that for making you feel better

Girly · 05/08/2003 08:11

Hi girls, can I join in the 'been bad this weekend' club too? It was dh's birthday over the weekend and lets just say that i got plastered on Saturady, have had 2 takeaways, a relatively good BBQ and a not so good BBQ. So thats 4 days of being naughty and I dare not weigh myself.

I am glad that we have all been off the wagon, IYSWIM So its back to it with a vengance to make up for last week.

Come on girls we CAN do it!
