Hi, me again. Missed yesterday as have been interviewing - v hard work! Mainteined again - story of my life! I have maintained for about three months (which I'm pleased about as without the plan would probably have put on a few pounds) but don't seem to be able to lose at the moment. I'm on holiday next week so won't be weighing in. Any ideas for what I can do post-holiday to really get the weight off again? I stick to red/green days but think that 10 sins is probably too many for me?? Could that be the case or could I be miss-counting?? I am a bit of a picker but thought I was doing OK on that. I am wondering if my body has got used to this amount of food??

Kayleigh - I have had mishaps like that too! I try to remind my self how much worse it would have been if I hadn't been trying at all. God I fancy a Florentia pizza now though! I can taste it!

Furball · 05/08/2003 13:05

Oops, glad I'm not the only one struggling. I was doing so well and at the weekend the diet just went out the window. Luckily I stayed the same, though god knows how. This lunchtime I just felt like something really naughty, luckily there isn't too much of that sort of stuff in the house, but I did finish off Ds's shortcake biscuit he'd made at playgroup this morning - well, he didn't want it! It must be the weather if we're all suffering.

kayleigh · 05/08/2003 20:02

Girls, I am soooo glad you're all back. This thread is for the bad times as well as the good !!
Crunchie - thank you, thank you. you could be right. I feel so much better now as my ds2 did indeed eat every last one of my dough balls.

Luchar, You could be mis counting. Have you tried writing everything down for a few days, like you did in the first couple of weeks at class - and I mean EVERYTHING! When i stopped writing I found i'd forget things like salad dressing, mustard or milk in tea. I also forget if I've prepared it the previous day, like a packed lunch for work.
I maintained for ages and have found I need to have no more than 6-8 sins a day to start losing again.

Girly, you're forgiven Stick with it. We CAN do this !!

Boe · 06/08/2003 10:19

Been off track for a while Re: the diet but am seriuosly following now - even passed off Quorn in Chilli last night and DP said he suspected but did not mention it until I said it was meat free.

I have problems with eating enough and getting the time to eat anything at all on most days - usually have latte for breakfast (skinny) to help me get through the morning, don't have time for lunch and just salas and meat for dinner inthe evening - just nmot sure how I can eat enough to make any difference - I have not much to lose - about 9lbs to get to the magic number!!

Am being weighed tonight - dreading it because I am 3lbs heavier than before I lost any weight!!

Will take DD in the hope that they think her so cute and will forget about her naughty mummy!!

mum2twins · 07/08/2003 11:54

Hi
I am also on slimming world and have lost a stone and a half. I would like to lose another stone but am struggling with motivation - so I would like to join in with you all if thats ok. I have noticed you talk about tortillas made with lasagne could anyone tell me how to make them. Thank you.

lilibet · 07/08/2003 12:15

Hello mum2twins and welcome, you have done really well, there is a website wth recipes on that include the tortillas www.granga.force9.co.uk/, sorry, not good on links!

I've been away for a bit and I'm back!!
Move went ok, diet went very badly. Back with renewed determination!!
For all those of us that are not doing too brilliantly, cn I suggest a list of reasons why we want to loose weight, here are my top 5

  1. when my children are older there will be no photos of me for them to lok back on as I destroy nearly all of them.

  2. I hate the overhang that happens when i wear anything with a waistband.

  3. I am the fattest of all my friends and it does really p**s me off when we goout and I feel like a lump of lard.

  4. I don't want to be heavier than DP

  5. I'm fed up of avoiding mirrors

and 6. I have lots of clothes, including new stuff that I cant wear.

kayleigh · 07/08/2003 14:37

mum2twins, we need to know a bit about you are you going to class or doing sw by yourself ?
and most important - are you an everyday weigher ?!!

lillibet welcome back.
My reasons (the ones that aren't the same as yours) are:-

  1. I want to go into a clothes shop and not walk out when I find the changing room is communal.

  2. I want stand on the train and not worry that someone is going to offer me their seat because they think I'm pregnant (not that they ever did when I was)

  3. I want to have more choice of what I can wear

  4. I want to wear nice clothes and know I look good.

Girly · 07/08/2003 16:04

Totally agree!!!!

Have been very good since Tuesday and have already lost the pound i put on, now have to keep it up.

I find that if i am good and do not have hardly any sins it comes off quick!

OP posts:
kayleigh · 07/08/2003 16:12

well that's good Girly.

I'm trying to keep my sins down too. I'm also trying not to eat so much fruit during the day.
Especially when i'm at work I just want to eat all day so end up eating loads of fruit. I know it's free but I think I am having too much. Must try and remember tonight to cut up some carrotts to snack on tomorrow.

Boe · 07/08/2003 17:02

Does it mske a difference if you are an everyday weigher??? We don't have scales in house anymore as I get a bit obssessive - was anorexic as a teen and can get a bit too serious about it all if have the opportunity to weigh constantly.

I lost another 2lb last night - thought I had put on loads as felt bloated but lady said that you do in this weather because your body tries to hold onto water. She said that Humans are tidal too!!!

DP is going to come next week, I think - told him that although there was no men at my class the other class that the lady runs has 5 and men tend to lose the weight quicker.

Gave him a Chilli on Tuesday, made it with Quorn and he did not even notice and ate the rest of mine too, so there is hope. Think will be easier if we both follow it. He has about 2 stone to lose so hopefully we can reach our target weights together.

Good job all and after having finally read of all of this thread am now going to try a few of the recipes especially the quiche.

kayleigh · 07/08/2003 19:06

Boe, well done that's excellant.

It absolutely does not make a difference if you weigh every day. In fact your way of weighing once a week is much better, and yes us everyday weighers do get obsessive about it. It is also silly as weight does fluctuate on a day to day basis and I get upset if scales show an increase, one day whereas over the week there will be a loss, and i'd be better off not knowing !

That's great that your dh is going to go to class. I'm impressed.
I wish mine would follow it with me. it'd be easier for me to stick to and help him too. He does eat a lot of what I eat but then he snacks after meals. Crisps are his big thing - and beer.

I strongly recommend the lasagne tortilla chips if you're cooking !

kayleigh · 09/08/2003 14:21

It was my weigh in day today and I've stayed the same. I'm really p**sed off as I have been really good apart from the Pizza Express thing and stuck to between 5 & 8 sins a day.
Will stick with it as I know if I wasn't sticking too it I'd go mad and eat everything in sight, just have to remember that i have lost 5 lbs even if it has taken 6 weeks.
How are you all doing ?

codswallop · 09/08/2003 14:23

staying the same is great _ watch your portion sizes...

kayleigh · 09/08/2003 14:34

codswallop, do you mean free foods or healthy extras. I always weigh my healthy extras (even though, sadly, i do actually now know what 28g of grated cheese looks like !) And with free food I presume you can eat as much as... I have a very healthy (!) appetite so would have, for example, a very large steak on a red day. Should i have a smaller one ?

lilibet · 09/08/2003 15:51

Good afternoon all, it's too darn hot! At my weigh in on FridayI had lost 3lb, which is over a fortnight as I hadn't weighed my self the week before a sit was moving day. Which means I have lost 1/2 a stone but that its taken 5 weeks . I know that I should be happier, but I feel like you Kayleigh, I want faster results. At the begining I wanted to average 2lb a week but am way off that. I need a lot more of before my hols but dofn't think another 1/2 stone in 3 weeks is possible. I am very envious of those at work who are doing Atkins as it does seem to drop off them. Fed up with being a fat sweaty blob!!

kayleigh · 09/08/2003 16:57

oh Lillibet I'm melting. Which come to think of it may be a good thing !!!
There are a couple of people at work doing Atkins and my Aunt & Uncle are doing it and have lost loads. But common sense tells me it is just not healthy. And I don't think I could go without any carbs or fruit. I just know that the s/w diet makes sense because you can eat everything - and that it is possible to stick to it for the long term, even when you are out and about. i know me, and I know as soon as i "can't" eat something I crave it desperately. But I must admit I am tempted !

kayleigh · 09/08/2003 16:58

sorry Lillibet, i also meant to say well done on your loss. It really is good. Don't be disheartened.

winnie1 · 09/08/2003 18:23

Lilibet, well done on your loss.
Kayleigh, I stayed the same this week too.

I am trying to think that loosing weight very quickly by 'deprivation dieting' is a sure way of it all piling back on very soon. IMHO slow and steady is good.

codswallop · 09/08/2003 18:59

I would say yes about the steak - rmember dieting is simple, if hard to do - the less you eat and the more you exercise the more you lose!

Furball · 10/08/2003 17:06

Codswallop - with Slimming World, you really can eat as much as you want in the way of free food, so on a red day you could eat 25 roast chickens (without the skin of course!) if you so wished. My 'Slimming Instructor' (as I call her) always says to people who haven't lost that much one week and dont know why, says, - keep eating as much free food as you can and sure enough the more free foods you eat the more you seem to lose. Crraazzy. Pity they don't have a 'brown day' for chocolate.

deegward · 10/08/2003 22:07

Sorry Nor posted for ages, but was on hols. DS2 christening. After waht I thought was a bad week at weigh in had lost 3lb, sent on hols for 10days (so missed one weigh in) and lost 2lb. Unfortunately with this heat just want to pick. Have been trying to eat lots of free food, but the chocolate is just so tempting in the fridge.

Trying to stay on track as aiming to loose 1/2 this week to loose first stone (some hope) Wednesday is weigh in day, and I think I will red until then.

Well done to all, and surely this heat has to be acting like a sauna for us. Please

kayleigh · 12/08/2003 11:27

deegward, you've done really well. Good luck for wednesday. I'm also having an all red week this week as I feel like I lose more weight on red. And as it has been so slow in coming off I thought I'd give a full red week a try and see what happens.
I spent the day in the park yesterday and I must have lost at least a pound in fluids with all that sweat trickling down my back, legs, etc etc (nice visual for you all there !!) I could have eaten a dozen lollies, but kept to two mini milks so was very pleased with myself. But I did have all those bit of ice cream that drip off a two year olds cornet when it takes him about 20 minutes to eat it and you just HAVE to keep cleaning it up : )

deegward · 18/08/2003 21:04

I take it everyone is either 1) on holiday, 2) finding sw soo easy they need no more support. or 3) being sooo bad they don't want to admit to it.

Well I went last wed and had lost again, another 1.5 lbs. so total weight loss is 1 stone, yes i say again 1 stone 1 pound. Unfortunately I feel I have put it all back on this week. Had mum and dad down and although I was good during their visit, have sort of pigged out since they left. (feeling sad etc). SO I am determined that tomorrow and wed goign to be extra good to negate the badness I have done since Sunday lunch time.
