New thread, same old plan.

We are a bunch of varying-in-size ladies (with the occassional male visitor) who all want to eat more healthily. We include those who want to lose 50 lbs, those who have already lost 50 lbs, those with only a little to lose, and some who just like to chat.

Come, post lots, and you will get encouragement, sympathy, and ass-kicking as necessary

Yes doing good shiney, just fancied popping out in, as not been around for a while

weegiemum · 25/03/2010 10:36

I need to lose 6 stone. I am a hefty size 26 right now, need to get down to 20. If I ever wear clothes again that start with a "1" I will be happy.

Weight has crept on over 10 years of severe (hospital sometimes) PND/basic depression.

I was never slim, but would like not to wobble when I walk!

I've lost a stone - from the 7 I needed to do. Down from a 28 to a 26 in Jeans!

My goal in life is not to have to shop in Evans!

NormaSknockers · 25/03/2010 10:40

You know you love it TWC

MyCatIsABastard · 25/03/2010 10:41

Morning all.

I'm MyCat, have lost 61lb in total, another 25lb or so to go, but i'm getting there with the Shiney ladies and WW.

Welcome to Angel, Purple, BitterandTwisted, weegiemum, wynken, Claudia, and TheLady (a sleb and a toff, ooh). Pile in and chat away. LOADS of new peeps.

LBAM, how about doing food focus online. It's free and not disimilar to WW, but you count calories not points.

Must go, need a wee (tmi?)

VinegarTitsOnaDiet · 25/03/2010 10:45

A stone is a Fab loss WM, what diet are you doing? i have just started WW, going well so far

bellavita · 25/03/2010 10:57

Shiney, what about that lovely coast top you bought a while ago?

Just had two lovely plums!

but I am comfort eating because of my tooth (which is slightly better)

MyCatIsABastard · 25/03/2010 11:00

bella, is it your birthday? Have I missed that.

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2010 11:01

Should that not be comfort-gently-slurping-only-liquid-food Bella?

I had a cake for breakfast - DP brought home a very beautiful cupcake someone at work had made, I think just to make me feel bad about how ugly my cakes alway turn out.

Good morning!

Are any of you breastfeeding? How should I eat to make sure I won't die of osteoporosis? (sp?)

I haven't actually dieted before. I am so rubbish I do not even know my carbs from my protein!

Well eggs are protein, and pasta carbs? Am I right?

We eat only brown bread wholemeal/granary, is this ok? Or is no bread at all best?

Sorry loads of questions!

jetcat · 25/03/2010 11:07

sorry for late intro, i'm jet, have lost around 50 with probably the same to go.

Hi to the newbies, and weegie - you will get there Well done on going down a jeans size - it feels better the more often you drop a size

glad the tooth is feeling better Bella - hope the chocolate cake plums helped

Shiney - good luck for the date Just dont let him show you his boner on the first date

Am planning to exercise all day, in preparation for weigh in. If you remember (in all my waffling) she said she wouldnt give me any more tablets if i didnt lose anything

Plus, junior has a birthday meal planned at pizza hut next tuesday - am currently trying to decide whether to risk having a small pizza while still taking tablets, or to have a couple of days break like i did over xmas

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 25/03/2010 11:07

Morning purple. I'm totally clueless as well, that's why I've joined this thread.are we not allowed bread?

I also have a question, does housework count towards exercise?

TrillianAstra · 25/03/2010 11:09

To lose weight you ned to take in fewer calories than you burn. A pound of fat contains 3,500 cals, so if over a week you eat 500 cals fewer than you burn every day then at th end of the week you should have lost a pound.

If you go too low it doesn't work, something about goinginto desperate survival mode.

Try www.foodfocus.co.uk - it's free and it will:
*calculate your calorie allowance based on current height/weight
*tell you how many calories you have consumed and how many you have left
*add extra calories to your allowance if you log exercise

(set it to 1 or 2 lbs/week loss, no more)

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 25/03/2010 11:11

Bitter&Twisted - with the Lord Ford (Food Focus's little nickname) you are allowed everything, but just not too much of it. If you log what you eat you can see how many calories come from each thing and decide if it is worth it. I call it 'choose your deprivation' - if there are the same # of cals in a creme egg or 2 glasses of wine I know which I'd prefer.

And housework does count as exercise, although not as much as, say, running would.

Good luck Jet!
