New thread, same old plan.

We are a bunch of varying-in-size ladies (with the occassional male visitor) who all want to eat more healthily. We include those who want to lose 50 lbs, those who have already lost 50 lbs, those with only a little to lose, and some who just like to chat.

Come, post lots, and you will get encouragement, sympathy, and ass-kicking as necessary

if you can make sense of that post you are doing better then me

TrillianAstra · 27/03/2010 17:46

Cilantro is coriander according to wikipedia.

NHS says 2,000 for a women 2,500 for a man.

Of course if you're only 5 feet tall and 8 stone (BMI of 22) you only burn 1,700 a day, which is why it's harder for short people to lose weight.
(that one was Food Focus again)

DEM - interesting post - I am losing 1lb a week on 1500 calories per day - so either I have a faster metabolism than I thought or I'm more active!

wordsonascreen - isn't cilantro the US term for coriander??

Wordsonascreen · 27/03/2010 17:48

Ah

Ta Trillian
Coriander I can do.

I don't think I've ever been 8 stone.

Wordsonascreen · 27/03/2010 17:49

and TC

TrillianAstra · 27/03/2010 17:52

That's interesting DEM - so basic metabolic rate is what your body would use if you just sat still and did absolutely nothing? And just walking around and doing normal daily things (not deliberate exercise) burns another 500?

Use celery leaves, I meant to amend that before I posted, sorry.

DidEinsteinsMum · 27/03/2010 18:18

Yeo the basal metabolic rate is the amount of calories your body needs to keep you alive. Anything else is what gets burnt on top. BR does vary depending on age, height, mass, sex, build and a few other things. It is the energy for the heart, lungs and brain and stuff like that. It is also the engery needed to digest food.

DidEinsteinsMum · 27/03/2010 18:20

i think i have crumbs in my keyboard...

Yep, trills that is correct.

Hello all, hate to write and run but DD wants to play her new game.

Had a busy day, finally got some money to put in the bank rather than spend it and more guests turning up in a bit. Cleaned rooms cooked breakfasts and done some shopping. DVD player finally gave up the ghost.

Have grazed today so not that good but a 4 point supper so that will make up for it.

Will catch up later.

MyCatIsABastard · 27/03/2010 19:33

Hello all. How you doing?

Had fun and games with DS last night. Basically up coughing, fever and being sick from 11pm til about 5:30am. Took him to hospital emergency docs this morning and they've given him a steroid inhaler. He's been really poorly all day, although perked up a bit this pm. Poor lad. I'm praying he'll sleep OK tonight.

I have been a bit rubbish today - no breakfast so I persuaded myself that I could eat bits of everyone else's lunch. Which was burgers & chips

Must go and talk to VT about eating behind my own back
