New thread, same old plan.

We are a bunch of varying-in-size ladies (with the occassional male visitor) who all want to eat more healthily. We include those who want to lose 50 lbs, those who have already lost 50 lbs, those with only a little to lose, and some who just like to chat.

Come, post lots, and you will get encouragement, sympathy, and ass-kicking as necessary

NO BOF, your daily attire is black kinky boots and fishnets

TrillianAstra · 26/03/2010 17:05

I bet BoF's DD will get there in plenty of time and have a great story of being chauffeur-driven to Heathrow

BoF totally wears fishnets every day, no question about it.

OP posts:
BitOfFun · 26/03/2010 17:09

Oh yes, there are fishnets under my trackies, for sure

Jet, yes, she was booked on a BA flight from Manc-Heathrow, then Qantas to Oz.

Lizzylou · 26/03/2010 17:11

Phew, my mental image of you was hanging in the balance then, BOF

jetcat · 26/03/2010 17:44

at Bof's kinky attire

Am sure DD will make it - what a start to her fab holiday

TotalChaos · 26/03/2010 18:32

Bitter - v sorry about your MIL

Vinny - enjoy your weekend with your mini in the lakes

BoF - fingers crossed for DD, glad that you are not having to do that drive yourself, it's a pita from our end of the country

jet - 38 weeks - poor girl!

weegie - I've only joined here in the last few weeks, whereas I've chatted to you on and off for a while (been on MN since 2004, was mummytosteven).

Lizzy- a bugger about the car. sorry the lorry chaps were sods about it.

and a big well done to Yank - re:your concerns about US eating - are you likely to eat out - as if you get hold of the nutritional info for the big chains you can plot in advance the better options to eat.

Lizzylou · 26/03/2010 18:34

Hi Total
Yank, sorry, I missed you'd lost 2.5lbs, well done you!

Still not managed to start my diet today. I'm going to join slimming world on Monday though dreading the first weigh in

MitsubishiWarrioress · 26/03/2010 19:19

well...if you see it as a bottom line angel...the only way is up, whatever it is.....

iggi999 · 26/03/2010 19:24

Just checking in to not-so-new thread, then off for my tea (not mentioning what it is )

MitsubishiWarrioress · 26/03/2010 19:27

I've eaten...

1 slice of toast,

2 x bananas,
Low cal snack from warburtons (snackadoodles, crap name but quite tasty)
Low fat yoghurt,

Very small portion chips and curry sauce
Tiny kids bar dairymilk.

Brownie.
Loads to drink.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 26/03/2010 19:29

how was your night out?

hellsbelles · 26/03/2010 19:34

Iggi - I'm so far behind on everything (can't keep up with all the posts!)...but did you manage to clear the air with DP?

hellsbelles · 26/03/2010 19:37

Mitts - I love the fact it was a tiny chocolate bar

Bella - sorry you didn't go to Boots - there is a chance they don't still do them anyway - this was about 5 years ago! Have you got the really strong nurofen (plus). Not good in the long run but surely deserved when you have tooth pain!

jetcat · 26/03/2010 19:38

i agree with mitts angel - just look at it as a starting point. It took me weeks before i would actually admit my weight on here, so dont feel like you need to post it straight away, or even at all

I have been thinking about what i have eaten this past 4 weeks, and while i am so happy with 9lbs, i am actually wondering what i could have lost if i didnt have those 4 fairy cakes the girls made, a fried breakfast last week etc. It has really spurred me on though, i know it is a big ask of myself but i think maybe if i am really good this month, i can get below 14 stone next month That means a loss of 11 lbs. Not totally impossible, but lots of hard work. Plus, only two more weigh ins before our meet up, so need to sort myself out

nurse practitioner did say to aim for 4lbs though - that doesnt seem much for 4 weeks, but i think she sets me low goals to motivate myself

jetcat · 26/03/2010 19:39

Bella - i could tell you the only thing (apart from meds) that helped my toothache, but then i would die of embarrassment

hellsbelles · 26/03/2010 19:43

jet - you can't leave us with that ....what oh what helped with toothache that was so embarrassing!?

And you are right about the motivation - I always find that once I start seeing it working I do find it really helpful. As you start fitting into different sizes of clothes that feels amazing doesn't it?

jetcat · 26/03/2010 19:46

it does hells, and i know i must be smaller as in smaller clothes etc. But, when i look down, i still see me as when i was at my biggest - i cant actually see any difference. I know there must be, as others have commented, i just thought i would be able to see as well

JuJusDad · 26/03/2010 19:51

Ok, so I've got a proper question, rather than adding to nattering about Shiney's outfit (which I still say will be utterly wasted on Tim).

I know having porridge for breakfast is a good thing, and it's supposed to make me feel full for ages, but the thing is it doesn't.

I feel quite virtuous eating it (although it does tend to have a layer of jam on top to make it edible), but come 11am or so, I feel really hungry.

Maybe I'm just rubbish at having a mid morning snack.

I feel like there's a really obvious solution that I just don't know of. Hope so, anyway.

Kind ladies, what should I do?

hellsbelles · 26/03/2010 19:53

it's tricky to change the perception we have of ourselves...you get used to seeing yourself in one way and even when you start changing it's really hard to change that image you have in your mind. But slowly slowly you will. It helps when people keeping telling you but don't worry - it will happen - one day you'll look in the mirror and see what you really look like (and smile)

hellsbelles · 26/03/2010 19:57

Jusjus - according to my diet bible (south beach diet) you MUST have a mid morning and mid afternoon snack. Apparently it actually helps you lose weight as you don't then get tempted to pig out at lunch.

I have babybel light cheeses (oh the glamour ), a (small) handful of peanuts or a miso soup. Other things I"m 'allowed' are prawns, or crudites or something equally virtuous. It does work though as I don't feel quite so starving at lunch time.

MitsubishiWarrioress · 26/03/2010 19:59

JET!!! Reveal all please! TSK TSK..

I am a snack fan JuJus...i.e a banana and a handful of nuts, because you need to find a balance between making your metabolism work, and not getting so hungry that you then eat loads when the next meal comes along.

I lost 42lb from my top weight Jet, and I still have issues sometimes, but the clothes tell it all. Going from a size 20/22 to a size 12ish is still a big buzz... try to enjoy it, you are one amazing lady...
