new thread for porky veggers trying to lose weight

have fun, be kind to each other, eat f+v, move around

see you in a bit

oh it is WEIGH IN DAY

you don't have to weigh in, but if you want to, this is the day

are you apple-shaped then?

I become more apple with each passing year. Although I think trinny and susannah would call me a brick

janeiteisFedUp · 23/03/2010 20:06

I didn't know you were veggie, Pointy. I KNEW there must be a reason I like you!

Today has been dreadful. I have had -

2 wholemeal toasts with marmalade;
one pot of M&S carrot and chickpea salad and a pitta bread;
homemade wedges with one fried egg and peas;
a nutrigrain cereal bar;
a plum.
I am hungry and Sainsbo's aren't coming until ten tonight, so we have nothing healthy in the house at the mo...or unhealthy either, for that matter.

pointydog · 23/03/2010 20:06

oo, I do not like cheese with bits in. The vom appearance turns me off first.

janeiteisFedUp · 23/03/2010 20:08

Am hour glass plus belly, I think.

Cereal and fruit is a good idea. I eat breakfast at work and when I'm being good I take muesli with yoghurt and frozen raspberries.

pointydog · 23/03/2010 20:08

I am not a veggie. You aare mistaken. This thread is for veggers (ie people who try to eat lots of fruit and veg to make for a healthier diet, to varying degrees of success) rather than veggies.

Mind you, I don't know how many people omn here are vegetarian

pointydog · 23/03/2010 20:09

Stop eating breakfast at work. That should be rule one. If we were into rules

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/03/2010 20:09

Actually I know what you mean Pointy, but I can make an exception for the mexican cheese. However the white stilton with apricots or cranberries makes me shiver.

I like your wedges, peas and fried egg meal janeite, it's very random!

littlerach · 23/03/2010 20:10

I am a titch too, Janeite, any weight shows a lot.

Lemur, that says it all, doesn't it, seeing pies and thinking of me

Have eaten more grapes.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/03/2010 20:11

Um, I think CoK and LittleRach are veggies.

janeiteisFedUp · 23/03/2010 20:12

Ohhhhhh - slow on the uptake, me.

I have to eat breakfast at work - can't eat before eight o' clock in the morning, so I have it as soon as I get to work at 8.00. Otherwise I feel sick.

So if this thread is for 'veggers', I am seriously failing on the fruit and vege thing at the moment. Must Try Harder.

pointydog · 23/03/2010 20:12

ah, oh well, plenty of leadership there then

pointydog · 23/03/2010 20:14

You're meant to aim for 10 pieces of f&v a day which is bloody hard and means you can't eat that much of anything else because you are all fruited to the gunnels.

Guadalupe · 23/03/2010 20:14

LOLOL at cardboard - that made me laugh and then I rounded it off with ten sneezes. I actually like rice cake and ryvita. I do pile things on them.

I don't think we are denying cake either. I had a small bit of carrot cake last night in bed though it was sans icing.

Janite - Hello - you sound little to me! We are not all vegi but there are a lot of vegetables eaten.

Guadalupe · 23/03/2010 20:15

You could make some breakfast bars to last the week and have that with a pot of fruit?

janeiteisFedUp · 23/03/2010 20:16

Right - I will give it a go tomorrow and try and keep up with the v impressive people on here.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/03/2010 20:21

am eating a pear and slurping a kiwi, apple and lime smoothie.

I do love salad, but it just doesn't fill you up does it? And I gave dh the lion's share of the lasagne.

I think you need to add a banana to your breakfast Janeite.

I think I'm going to bake the Hummingbird Bakery's carrot cake this week. However I have a plan so I don't eat it all. I'm making it for a coffee morning I'm hosting. That way I'll get to have a slice, but I won't be left with loads.

janeiteisFedUp · 23/03/2010 20:23

Does orange juice count?

I don't like bananas.

I like the breakfast bars and fruit idea. And I could make a batch of mango lassi maybe?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/03/2010 20:26

OJ does count but I imagine only if it's the stuff not from concentrate and with bits - but I may be wrong. And no matter how much you have it's only one portion - can't remember why though.

You. Don't. Like. Bananas? Sheesh, that's just weird

What is mango lassi? I'm thinking of a scottish girl with a mango on her head

janeiteisFedUp · 23/03/2010 20:30

mango lassi = mango blitzed with natural yoghurt and milk or water and is delicious with lots of ice cubes. You can use fresh, frozen or tinned mango.

littlerach · 23/03/2010 20:55

I have made myself like bananas over the last few years.
They are quite filling, and not too ocld and don't hurt my teeth
I can't bite into apples as it hurts my teeth and gums. have to cut them up

Aldi had boxes of grapes for 59p so I bought 4. One box down already

Janeite, I am veggie. I made veg chilli with peppers, sweetcorn, spinch and tomatoes, then added pinto beans, and meant to add cannelini beans but forgot. I don't always like kidney beans.

CoupleofKooks · 23/03/2010 21:30

hello janeite, i am veggie, but we are all veggers (this is a 10/10 spin off masquerading under a different name)
i'll try to find the portion link thingy for you
try this

There was an MNer called Mangolassi!!

I had a yummy veg curry for dinner with brown rice. Curry was onion, carrot, baby corn, mange tout, mushrooms, butternut squash and sweet potato.

Then I ran 5k.

I lost 2 lb last week. Another half stone to go before the end of May. I think I will pop in once a week on weigh in day. If I may?

janeiteisFedUp · 23/03/2010 21:45

Thank you all. That portion thingie is great and some of them are smaller than I expected.

Veggie chilli is great too - I put lentils, butter beans and kidney beans in mine, plus lots of veggies. Also do quite a few veggie curries with lots of veggies.

Fruit is my downfall because I am fussy. Am not fond of things like apples, oranges etc and like 'fussy' or expensive fruit - mangoes, raspberries, pomegranate etc.

CoupleofKooks · 23/03/2010 21:47

pink i have the podcast!!! anyone else fancy joining me for couch to 5k? i am a shambler so you needn't worry about competition
