new thread for porky veggers trying to lose weight

have fun, be kind to each other, eat f+v, move around

see you in a bit

oh it is WEIGH IN DAY

you don't have to weigh in, but if you want to, this is the day

i do like the muppets and ds2 likes to shout "hiiiiiiiiiYA!" at inappropriate moments
i do worry slightly about the comedy violence

ok cereal etc

rocket, spinach, tomatoes, hummus, felafel, stuffed vine leaves, grilled mushrooms with pesto and parmesan

baked camembert, potato wedges, carrots, brocolli (bloody lovely)
strawberries, banana muffin thing

some ginger chocolate

i walked to waitrose specially to buy me and dp an easter egg, as they have green and black ones and i have g+b vouchers
they had sold out and only had ben 10 eggs which i declined
so i bought lots of other g+b goodies (ice cream, cereal bars etc) and then they wouldn't take the vouchers, and were a bit insulting about it
i could not be bothered to make anything of it so slumped home with my wallet a bit lighter

oh tonight is week two of podcast shambling
am a bit scared

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/04/2010 19:45

don't be scared Fra, you can do it

I think you were VERY good not to throw your toys out of the pram at Waitrose. It's situations like that that make me blow my top

I adore baked camembert. All of that smelly gooey cheeseyness.

What do you like about stuffed vine leaves? I've only had them once and they were vile. Do you get good ones and bad ones?

littlerach · 03/04/2010 20:02

Oh your food sounds so goooood fran

WE made pizza and scoffed it.

Then had some teeny dime bars (Ikea trip yesterday!)

Then some salad asnd bread

have some G&B cherry choc now.

CoupleofKooks · 03/04/2010 20:04

i've only ever had what i thought were nice ones, but i know plenty of people who can't stand them
i like the salty vine leaves and then the stodgy, herby rice inside
they are peculiar i think

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 03/04/2010 20:06

oh i found something new at waitrose
frozen risotto
i bet you are going now
i have not tried it yet but it comes in a big bag and apparently you just chuck it in the frying pan for 5 mins
it will be so cool if the boys like it - for those days when you get home and it is ten past teatime already, and everyone is tired and hungry and whingetty

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 03/04/2010 21:23

dunnit
was ok, 90 secs running and 2 mins walking
my foot / knee issue is getting a bit dodgy though, am going to need better trainers
i saw physio last month - private one - as my NHS orthotics are dire - god it gets expensive to get old and creaky, doesn't it?

i hope guad is having a nice holiday
the weather is lovely tonight, very cold but clear
i hope she's taking a turn round the garden

oh avi it's such a long job
maybe dh finds it more manageable in little chunks? the whole process is rife with possibilities for rowing
don't throw any keys into thorn bushes

i was thinking about big lardy meals (such as i have eaten a few of lately) and obviously they are not ideal for weight loss, but they certainly do fill you up and leave you satisfied all evening
last night i didn't eat THAT much - probably about quarter of a camembert, some potatoes and some veg - but i didn't feel hungry all evening, whereas often i am prowling around the larder for hour after hour wondering what to have and basically feeling hungry and unsatisfied
i wonder what the optimum balance of fatty v healthy is, for sating hunger but keeping calories manageable?

gah. It rained and hailed heavily all day on us as we were trying to do craft stuff at stateley home for fun day. (no cover!) then when we limped home at 5pm, cold, wet, and dispirited, the sun came out and it has been glorous ever since.
I have had crap all day. Sorry.

Well done for keeping mum Avi

Sorry about the crap day Ellie. Have you got any chocolate eggs to stuff?

We all went to my parents today and my dad decided we were going to have a bbq come rain or shine Luckily we ate inside while he froze his knackers off cooking lunch.

After lunch we went Geocaching. Two were within a mile or so of eachother so we decided to do both. We found neither. What a complete shitter!

I was annoyed and slightly bored at not finding the cache's but my poor old niece was rather upset that we couldn't find them. I think at least one of them has been found and taken by muggles, due to its location. However id did meam I walked off my apple pie

granola and chopped banana
bbq with salad and pasta salad
apple pie and custard

I now need to decide what to have for supper.

I know what you mean about prowling around the cupboards once you've had a light dinner Fra. It's a horrible and rather annoying feeling isn't it?

CoupleofKooks · 04/04/2010 21:15

hello, hope all had a nice Easter (sorry about your crappy day Moll )

i am pleased with myself, we went to friend's for afternoon tea, and then i went to restaurant for dinner with my lovely teenagers i used to nanny for, and i didn't eat too much at either
and i didn't get an egg so i couldn't eat it

it is weigh in day tomorrow, anyone joining me in guad's absence?
guad if you are there, just balance yourself on a stick with a sheep or something and tell us the result

lemur i want to do geocaching
it is just nerdy enough for it to be my kind of thing

There are not many lambs around which is strange, they are all big fat woolley sheep mostly. Maybe they departed in time for today.

We walked miles and found the biggest old oak I have ever seen, seemed around ten foot wide and we could all fit inside it.

Have given in and eaten chocolate and drunk wine. No roast today though, didn't get round to cooking it. Had loads of other food.

Will try and reappear in the morning to stand on my invisible scales.

Guadalupe · 04/04/2010 21:53

ps, this time laptop only works by the kitchen window at 45 degrees to the left as the owl hoots. Dh can use his phone if he stands on the gate. It's peaceful.

ThePinkOne · 05/04/2010 08:28

I've put on nearly a pound

Rubbish week. No exercise for nearly 2 weeks (except a hideous run in the rain). But I've done all my chocolate eating this week and I'm ready to have a good week now [determined]

Not caught up with the goss but hope you're all ok!

CoupleofKooks · 05/04/2010 09:36

oh well pink a pound can just be a fluctuation, don't get hung up about a pound
but if you are ready to have a determined week that is great

hello guad! glad the owl was hooting last night. is it all lovely?

i have weighed and lost......1 and a half lb again
am very pleased
total 3 lb
this thread is seriously motivating for me
thank you for humouring me with it

i think i ended up eating v little yesterday
cereal etc
a farl
lunch was bowl of lentil soup and bread
friend made pizza, garlic bread, salad and hot cross buns but i only had one slice of pizza and a plate of salad, because i was going out later
at restaurant i ordered a whole pizza but it was dry and boring, i only ate half (friend's pizza i declined earlier was a lot nicer )
shared a really mediocre cheesecake - really glad i offered to share one as i would still have eaten the whole thing otherwise, and felt disappointed
then some chocolate and 3 satsumas when i got home

i'm really trying to concentrate on not eating things if they are not what i really want, or the portion is too big
so often i just plough on through something simply because it's on my plate, or because there's more in the packet and that's just what you do, you finish it

was poor night with both dses - everyone unsettled - slept in (well dozed in) till 9 but feel quite rough
am eating cereal with strawberries, apple and seeds, in bed
even got brought a cup of tea
bliss

CoupleofKooks · 05/04/2010 09:38

will try to link

oh avi, that is dreadful is dh making the best of it? i am sending lots of hopes you will be well soon

OP posts:
ThePinkOne · 05/04/2010 12:11

avi. Hope your back improves soon.

Thanks for the pep talk Fran but seriously it's a wonder it wasn't more!! Pizza & chips saturday night, steak and chips last night, no exercise and far too much chocolate. And now I've had a total meltdown today. Life's getting on top of me! I'm knackered and I've eaten toast and chocolate already! Can't do willpower when I'm this knackered. Need a couple of early nights and a couple of lazy days at home, then I'll try the determination again!!

Well done on the loss Franzo!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/04/2010 12:34

Are you calling me a nerd Fra??!!! I bet you there is a geocache in the park near you.

DH went onto the geocache website last night and someone found the cache we were looking for about an hour after I got grumpy and swore under my breath that muggles had knicked it

Sorry to hear about your back Avi. A bad back is bloody miserable. Are there any osteopaths on Avi Island? Sorry if this is a stupid question

According to my jeans I haven't put on weight and I haven't lost anything either. However that's more to do with going for lots of walks this weekend rather than good eating.

Once skinny minny dh is back at work tomorrow my diet will improve.

I think I'd like to find an oak I can sit inside, it sounds lovely Guad.
