sorry about it

OP posts:
CoupleofKooks · 01/04/2010 19:53

have run
am knackered
why don't you instantly get to look gorgeous as soon as you do running? it seems like a lot of effort
i see loads of people out running and half of them look crap. it's not a great incentive

OP posts:

DH looks bloody awful when he comes back from a run. His face is a horrible grey bloodless colour - certainly not all flushed and bright eyed!!

granola with blueberries and a banana
stilton and apple sandwich, cucumber sticks, grapes and an pear.
hot cross bun.
meatballs and pasta - far too much as I feel like I'm about to burst.

Walked a couple of miles today.

Oh god. I am just having flashbacks about what happened at toddler group today. A little boy (probably about 9mo) was sort of crawling around on the floor and ds sat on him like he was riding a horse Luckily I think the baby was crying more because he was annoyed at being pinned down rather than being hurt. But I was MORTIFIED. I have no idea why ds done it, he's never done it before.

Does anybody else ever get the feeling 'why is it always my dc?'

CoupleofKooks · 01/04/2010 20:35

LOLOLOL
sorry but just PMSL
good old ds
(I assume baby recovered ok so it is ok me laughing?)
i am sure ds just thought it was a funny thing to do
i can imagine the parent's face as their precious darling was pinned by the monster cutie of your ds
hahaha

OP posts:
ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/04/2010 21:12

Disclaimer: the baby stopped crying as soon as I picked him up so I really don't think he was hurt. And the mum was perfectly fine about it.

Well for a split second I did think it was funny, but then sprinted over in a panic to rescue the baby.

I know I'm sounding like I'm justifying my perfect parenting and my perfect ds , but when I saw the baby earlier I thought 'I wonder where his mum is, she's brave letting him crawl around like that unsupervised.' So whilst I don't condone ds' horse riding adventure, I did think 'why would you let your baby into the older children's area unsupervised?'

But, as the mum was ok about it all, I think it says more about me being mortified about it and trying to turn the situation on he baby's mum.

I'm over thinking this aren't I??

I just feel that ds is into EVERYTHING and everybody else's child sits there as good as gold. And I guess if I think about it, I LIKE having a spirited ds, but I do worry about what others think.

I think I need to calm down about it.

CoupleofKooks · 01/04/2010 22:24

i always used to worry about ds1 being 'clingy' and not being able to share and getting terribly upset if someone pushed him or he fell over etc
it seemed like everyone else's child was skipping off into the sunset, dispensing their toys with great bonhomie, and deflecting bullets with their fists kind of thing

i think some of us do worry a bit too much yes! IME hardly anyone notices what other people's children are doing, and if they do, they have too much time on their hands

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 01/04/2010 22:55

dd2 sits still and is as good as gold

but only because she is 6mo and hasn't figured out how to make her bum move uet

all the other babies at bf group and various baby groups are older so she is always getting crawled on and knocked over and so forth, the othe rparents are generally mortified but tbh she is used to being manhandled by a 5yo so she generally just smiles beatifically and looks serene

lemur i have mostly been eating stilton and grape sandwiches this week omnomnom

but at least there are grapes and they are of the unfermented non liquid variety

What did they bring him, Avi? Easter egg or a gun? Did you let him keep it?

My mum always brings dcs rank sweets like those leaking jelly bug slime things and a comic. I have given up. She doesn't see them that often. I don't mind normal swweets and choc but these are really rank.

I have inexplicably put on two pounds. I have not eaten more. Weird. And annoying.

I am going on holiday. Supposedly soon. And I haven't packed. I am such a slacker.

Melon

TigerFeet · 02/04/2010 09:41

i hear you avi

i had a row with my mum when dd1 was a baby, she wanted to give her chocolate at 6mo and i said no (why tf does a 6mo need chocolate ffs) so she whispered sotto voce to dd1 "oh we will just give you some when mummy's not looking" " you'd better bloody not" i said "it's a grandparent's job to go behind their parents' back to spoil a grandchild" she said, i was seriously unimpressed. i still don't know to this day whether dd1 had any chocolate

i really wish that people would just respect our parenting decisions, after all we have made them after due consideration and with good reason. i might not agree with someone else's choice but i would never dream of deliberately contravening them in that sort of way.

CoupleofKooks · 02/04/2010 09:55

they are fuckers avi, it's really crap behaviour and not funny or kind (i suspect people who do this feel it is one of the other)
i don't know if you remember the huge showdown we had with my mother when she did this and gave ds a sword (she did it while i was in a different room, so when i saw it, it was a fait accompli)
she claimed complete ignorance of anything to do with my dislike of weapons (which is legendary throughout my family) and cried and generally acted like a poor old woman
my sisters believed her
then when they were gone she was all triumphant again

guad has your hair grown a bit maybe?

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 02/04/2010 10:23

lol maybe, I wil cut a bit more off

Melon, and hot cross bun as I was depressed about the two pounds.

Offered a bun to the builderas and they wanted it toasted with butter. I said fair Jesus did not die on the cross for you to be ungrateful and ask for buttter did he?

The joke went down like a lead balloon. They still wanted butter. And now they probably think I am a Christian.

CoupleofKooks · 02/04/2010 11:02

oh dear @ unappreciative builders
but you offered them a bun without butter? i must say i see their point

i bet the 2 lb is just water or summat and will disappear again

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 02/04/2010 11:14

I never eat buns with butter! And I am a butter fiend.

I like them fresh and soft and doughy from the packet. Mind you, only if they are nice ones, not nasty old dry things where you play spot the currant

That does sound very annoying.

Right - we are off on our fat holiday. I will try and log on but I won't have scales to weigh in.

Goodbye - Happy Easter!

elliemental · 02/04/2010 18:41

I hear ya too, Avi.

Guad, I have found the most exciting combination of techno-trance and The Cure! I have been blasting it out on my headphones like some teenager while my gothy pre-teen sneers at me! shall I do special link just for you?

elliemental · 02/04/2010 18:42

oh, and if it makes my heart beat mega-fast is that like aerobic excerices...?

I have had an egg and mushroom banjo and a almond and cherry slice today. And I have to squeeze into a very unforgiving cat ourfot on sunday.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/04/2010 18:47

Ellie - two words for you: control knickers!

I would be v. pissed off Avi. I don't know what motivates people to behave like that.

Have a lovely holiday Guad.

It's only day one of the long weekend and I already feel like I need to purge. My diet has been dreaful However I did eat lots of veg with my roast dinner and I said no to dessert - but I did eat a lemon meringue cupcake later on.

elliemental · 02/04/2010 19:15

I need a miracle, Lemur - not sure control pants can quite cut it! I'll be fine as long as i don't breathe.

CoupleofKooks · 02/04/2010 20:14

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/04/2010 17:31

It's time to put on make-up, it's time to light the lights, it's time to get things started on the Muppet Show tonight

Dh bought ds a muppets dvd. Dh thinks more of it than ds!!

We've had a lovely day today. We've finally got round to buying the strawberry plants AND we actually planted them today as well. This avo we went over to the stately house in the village and watched the lovely new lambs. They were gorgeous. DS was most unimpressed and spent the whole time paddling in the puddles. Oh well, it kept him happy!!

So far:

banana on toast
apple and stilton sandwich with cucumber sticks and veg cous cous.
pear
grapes
smoothie

I think a take-away is calling tonight
