ooooh, it is up to £20 now with 5 mins left. Shall i, shant i...... would that one go with a dark cream and plum colour scheme?

TrillianAstra · 21/01/2010 19:49

What's up to £20 Jet?

I see Sazz has also put in an offer to be Lizzy's roomie.

Has anyone taken the option of chez Yank yet? I didn't want to bagsie it in case there were other people who were less able to afford the hotel room, but if we're nearing the end of the list I definitely can't afford a whole hotel room. (will obviously pay for taxis etc instead)

BitOfFun · 21/01/2010 19:50

Go for it Jet, last few seconds,/ ok? Bid forty one pounds two pence or something.

BitOfFun · 21/01/2010 19:50

£51.34?

Georgimama · 21/01/2010 19:50

Waaaahh not fair stop talking about your meet up!!

Where's the cock and cake chat gone? I need vicarious thrills, not having had either for a while - well, cake anyway.

Jet I would really recommend ebay, they don't have to be local, lots of furniture dealers advertise on there and they can be very reasonable about arranging a courier - I bought a beautiful leather sofa on ebay a couple of years ago for £200 and it was couriered for another £30. That's got to be better than paying ripoffland £3588 (£23 x 52 weeks x 3 years) for a sofa I bet isn't worth more than £500.

BitOfFun · 21/01/2010 19:53

You didn't get it

Ah well, was not worth much more than that anyway.

Why aren't you coming, Georgimama?

TrillianAstra · 21/01/2010 19:58

Hmm, cake. I would love to be baking some cake but am working far too long hours, and now DP is complaining that I am in work too late and has gone out to the pub. (I could have gone but too tired)

I maintain that I had a harder day (at work for 11 hrs with a nearl-impossible deadline but not so impossible that I can say 'screw it' trying to learn a programming language, vs his phone interview, pizza with friend, watch dvd) but he really hates being unemployed.

BitOfFun · 21/01/2010 19:59

Woohoo! It was you! Hurrah!

Lizzylou · 21/01/2010 19:59

Yay Jet am sure it will go with your colour scheme, well done you!

Georgi, please come!

I will have to really step up the diet and exercise if I am sharing with Miss Size 10 super svelte Sazz

I will be getting to Manchester at about 5.30/6pm, after work.

Just in time for CHampagne cocktails

BitOfFun · 21/01/2010 20:01

Next time you must promise not to even crawl out of the woodwork until the last five seconds...make the other bidders complacent- that's the trick [evil]

DreamsInBinary · 21/01/2010 20:01

Oh, that's nice. The hotel have sent me twenty confirmation emails. Perhaps I have booked an entire floor...

Lizzylou · 21/01/2010 20:05

Aww TRills, how did his telephone interview go?

Looks like DIB might have got us all sorted.....

Georgimama · 21/01/2010 20:07

OK, cunningly managed to overlook the fact jet was in the very act of bidding on ebay. Teach me to get bored and skip last few posts.

I would love to come, honestly, I'm sure you're not axe murderers, but I am already pissing off to Las Vegas for five days in March and I feel a weekend in Manchester with hairy truckers in June may be a step too far for DH. Do it again later in the year and I promise he will have got over the trauma of flying solo with DS by then.

mamazon · 21/01/2010 20:07

can someone give me an update on the meet. I have a banging headache and cantt face reading through all the posts....you lot talk for Britain!

if im still invited of course!

Jet - I did scroll and see you were considering buying from brighthouse, please dont! they charge 1000's% in interest and charges.

If it helps, my current sofa's came from freecycle and the ones before came from the sally army.

it doesn't mater where they come from so long as they do the job.

bellavita · 21/01/2010 20:07

Shiney, we can check in at the hotel at 2.00pm, so we could always meet up for a spot of lunch, check in, drop our bags and then hit the shops?

TrillianAstra · 21/01/2010 20:08

It went pretty well, that was for a job at a different team in the same company he was with before. He also had a real interview somewhere else last Friday and is waiting to hear back from the agency. So it's not as if he's lacking in leads.

Georgimama · 21/01/2010 20:08

Just to divert back to less interesting eating chat, despite this week's slight upset of losing anything (so far) I have persisted and not given in to snacking, sugar or seconds. Or wine. I do feel I ought to be thinner than this by now...

jetcatisfrozen · 21/01/2010 20:09

BoF - i am way too nervous for that lol! I did think about doing that, and managed to resist until 4 mins left. First bids were outbid straight away, so set limit at £50 and thought, if i get it i get it

Lizzylou · 21/01/2010 20:10

Well Trills, that all sounds v hopeful, it isn't nice looking for work, but at least he has stuff going on.

Bella and Shiney hitting the shops??? Boomtime in Manchester, keeping the economy alfoat just the two of em!
