For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

MoveIt I am quite a fan of pasta with cubes of roasted butternut squash and goats cheese. Roasted cherry toms go well with it too.

I can say goats cheese because Franny isn;t listening.

TheMollyRogerAndTheIvy · 03/01/2010 18:52

lol @ Mayor.
I went to alloty t'other day. It looked incredibly neat and tidy (because it was totally covered in virgin snow...!)
We have had more snow today. But not enough to cancel school or work tomorrow. Wah!

Can you hear the screams yet as I try and persaude two feral children to have a bath and let me wash their hair?

SuperBunny · 03/01/2010 19:07

TooT, are you around? I neeeeed you

SuperBunny · 03/01/2010 19:16

at molly's snow. I miss snow.

FrayedKnot · 03/01/2010 20:32

I didn;t bother Moll

DS had a bath yesterday. He's very anxious about going back to school though.

He just says he misses me too much. It's been like this from when he started school, on and off, and last term was awful for several weeks (crying in playground in monring, then standing trying not to cry all whitefaced etc).

I don;t know how to help him with it

He is usually OK once he gets in the classroom I think and fine when he comes out, and usually seems to have enjoyed himself.

Any thoughts?

TheMollyRogerAndTheIvy · 03/01/2010 20:40

oh fk

Is he in reception?

I don't know what to suggest really. my ds1 hated school from the go-get. he is 12 and still does. He likes the social aspect though, just not formal learning. if it had been financially feasible to home ed him, I would have
Instead, we talked about what to expect in the day and that lunch time was halfway through. and the things he liked about school. and tried to focus on those.

and he still gets depressed every sunday

SuperBunny · 03/01/2010 20:52

Oh FK & Moll

I know it won't really make you feel any better FK, but I've had several children who have been so upset and reluctant to come to school but as soon as they get in and sit down and start doing something they are ok. Poor poor DS though. When he talks about his day, has he enjoyed anything? Does he have friends there?

I told DS he was going back to nursery tomorrow and he said, 'Ohh, YAYYYYYY' so that's nice

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/01/2010 13:16

Oh FK and Moll, that must be very difficult to deal with, well difficult for everyone involved really.

I bloody love goats cheese. Thanks for the pasta idea FK, Baby Lemur would like that to I think.

LOL at Buny's ds! At least he likes it there!

OMG SO much snow here this morning! 5 inches so far and rising.
Kids schools are both closed but dh is off today as the roads are closed to the town where he works.
Sadly I live within 5 minutes walk of my work...Grrrr

SuperBunny · 05/01/2010 19:07

Flurries here today but no snow altough it is forecast. School is closed tomorrow but I have to go in anyway Is crap because I'd get loads of work done if I stayed at home but will have to spend over an hour travelling to go and do the same thing in a cold building with loads of distractions. Grrr

Enjoy the snow Moll.

Veg pie
Orange
Beans

MollyRoger · 05/01/2010 20:02

I can't bear the suspense - we won't find out til 8am...ish whether schools are shut tomorrow or not, which is exactly the time ds1 needs to leave the house to catch his bus so we will haveto get up as suaul and do lunches and uniform etc .....and listen to terrible 1980s crap on out local radio station to find out.

Yes, a morning listening to Heart Fm is not my idea of good times either Molly.

Mayor, did you have snow earlier? We had a bit but then it rained and sleeted and I slipped and fell . I am counting it as exercise.

TigerFeet · 05/01/2010 20:57

MayorNaze · 05/01/2010 21:00

it has snowed-ish earlier...but didn't settle even though everywhere is icerink-esque

TigerFeet · 05/01/2010 21:10

goats cheese is rank

you need a naice bit of stilton

we have a light covering of snow, more expected, but dd1's school prides itself on never closing... end of last term virtually every other school in the town closed bar dd1's

not much f&v

made quinoa stew thing tonight, was unmitigated disaster, is salvagable bot not tonight

made broccoli & cauli soup

v thick and filling, perfect for cold weather with huge chunks of bread and butter

yurty one, dd2 in 3-6 months or 6-9 depending on cut, she is 14-15lbs but chubby. i will pay you bach if it's fabulous

now would someone do me a favour? i started a thread about dd2's squawking, can someone do a search and post a link, for reasons i can't fathom i hid it
