Eat fruit and vegetables - 10/10 thread BOOTCAMP, all welcome

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

littlerach · 02/09/2009 20:30

Oh not long TF (bet you're sick of people saying that )

Back at school today and not as bad and hectic as i feared.
Dd1 has gone up into the next class with only one friend, so she was a bit anxious, but she met up woth her other friends at lunch time so she seemed ok.

Dd2 has never been a fan of school.
She said it was "ok" but would rather have been at home

We have unpacked most of the stuff ta preschool and just have bits it do tomorrow.
It is soooo lovely

Grapes
raisans
broccoli
carrots
sweet potatoes
strawberries
banana

The rain is awful here really torrential.

bunnynbumblesmum · 02/09/2009 22:20

goji berries
banana
broad beans
cauliflower
carrots
blueberries
strawberries
peach
passion fruit x3
apple

2 daft questions.........
small box of rasins is that one portion?
do we count potatoes?

SuperBunny · 02/09/2009 22:31

Spuds dont count but are good for you nonetheless.

Raisins, you need a handful, don't you? Can't remember. Things must be bad if I don't know portion sizes any more.

I'm having a little trouble reaching 10 because I never know what to have for lunch. What do you ladies have? I don't think I can count choc spread on toast can I?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 03/09/2009 13:28

For lunch I tend to have one of the following:

Virtuous Day: raw carrot sticks, raw cauliflower, cucumber and humous (4 portions) with a toasted wholemeal pitta.

average Bad day: sandwich with cucumber sticks, tomatoes and a piece of fruit.

Or soup (homemade of course) a toasted pitta and a piece of fruit.

MayorNaze · 03/09/2009 14:26

bah

today is poo

have cocked up biscuits for my committee meeting tonight and if dd2 waves playdough at me one more time saying mummy i can't DO it i will chuck it out the window. plus cursor keeps jumping about while i type for reasons best known to itself

pineapple
banana
apple

far too many kettle chips

Littlepurpleprincess · 03/09/2009 15:00

You think a sandwich with cucumber, tomatoes and fruit is bad?!

I love home made soup, might make a batch.

ThePinkOne · 03/09/2009 15:12

Hope DD got on ok TF. Glad BE is there and hope you're having a nice time. Have you chosen a sling yet?

Mum's here so food is mixture of good at home and rubbish eating out tsp of salad garnish type days!! Never mind. We're having a lovely time and I'm getting on MN in the day cause she's taken the DC to the park

Lunch - I would love sandwich and crisps every day but when I can be arsed I do a plate (to share) of crudites instead of crisps (whatever's in the fridge - today was cuc, tomato, pepper, olives, celery) and hummous. That counts too. And coming up to winter soup's good but not much portion wise cause it's lots of water.

TigerFeet · 03/09/2009 16:30

Lunches - I try and include a couple of pieces of fruit instead of eating crisps or whatever.

BE has gone home

I have bought a calin bleu wrap... BE is selling some of hers as well so I will try some of those out. She used a Mai Tei while she was here which was fab

Sorry Lemur the baby can't come on 8th. We're having a new carpet fitted in dd's room that day, we can then do the last of the furniture shuffling and putting away of stuff. Baby is under instructions to arrive on 9th. I quite fancy a birth date of 09/09/09

DD was fine today. Tired now though. Apparently she's done nothing all day.

For my 10 mins of exercise today I have been chasing washing round the garden due to a combination of sloppy pegging out and force 8 wind.

I'll report f&v later, I have been cooking loads but haven't eaten much yet.

TigerFeet · 03/09/2009 16:31

Thread about my brother being on the 4th plinth, any suggestions gratefully received

Boco · 03/09/2009 18:45

TF do you know if you're having a boy or girl or will it be a surprise? Have you reached due date yet.

School starts again tomorrow and am v. disorganised.

ABitWrong · 03/09/2009 20:20

Evening.

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2009 20:42

Ooh TF how exciting - will he wear the rucksack? I think he should lecture the crowd on the importance of 10 a day, and stress that nuts DO NOT COUNT.

Blueberries
2 satsumas
Veg stir fry (3 maybe?)

this is good for me of late

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2009 20:43
