Eat fruit and vegetables - 10/10 thread BOOTCAMP, all welcome

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yay for walking baby lemur! DS is really trying hard to crawl. He does a little 2 knee jump, then flops down a bit further on!!

Raisins. Coffee.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 30/09/2009 10:02

Hi..everywhere is so quiet Does it go like this sometimes or has MN lost its Mojo?

I love it when LO's are starting to walk and they plomp dowm on their bums with that delightfully surprised look on their faces.

MayorNaze · 30/09/2009 17:53

MayorNaze · 30/09/2009 19:12

and i just dropped my sodding mooncup down the pan

FrayedKnot · 30/09/2009 19:56

Yay for Baby Lemur!

Mayo how awful to ahve to wait that long with a child with no food / drink / anything to do. Am most for you. And annoying about the mooncup too - have you lost it?

I've been doing some family history research lately and alhtough I know people did, I can;t get my head round someone having 13 children in 23 years. Starting at the age of 20 and finishing at 43.

We have such different lives now, don;t we.

FrayedKnot · 30/09/2009 19:57

Sorry TooT, how is your friend?

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 30/09/2009 20:45

banana
pear
grapes
cucumber
apple
peppers
onions
mushrooms
refried beans

Blimey I'm knackered having got up at silly o'clock.

Have you calmed down Mayor? I hope your ds's rash is getting better.

13 children I can't even contemplate having that many children. Just imagine what your pelvic floor would be like. God, it would be shot to bits.

Have you found any deep dark secrets yet?

SuperBunny · 30/09/2009 21:51

Gla dyour friend is ok, ABW.

Yay for baby lemur - I love newly walking babies. DS was like that - running full pelt and landing on his face. He never really cared, he just got up and did the same thing again.

F&V v poor and exercise is shit.

Am moving this weekend so hopefully that will help.

Happy birthday, Toot and Franny!

TigerFeet · 01/10/2009 11:46

Happy belated birthday to TooT and Franny.

Glad your friend is OK ABW, it must have been very frightening for her.

My gran was one of 13 surviving children, Irish Catholic family. A lot of those children had 6 or so children each, my Mum has hundreds of cousins scattered all over the world. Each generation has got smaller - I have 7 cousins and three siblings, and there are only three children in the next generation, two of which are mine

We are stuck in waiting for the MW to come and see how fat dd2 has got discharge us to the HV's. Any time between 10 and 4... hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later, it's a lovely day and I fancy parading about with my pram.

Awww, walking and crawling babies are great, I remember when dd1 learned to crawl, she was so funny, she would crawl away a grand vitesse when we were trying to catch her, giggling all the while .

3 plums
1 nectarine
about to have a banana

I am so HUNGRY

MayorNaze · 01/10/2009 13:28

i am fine

the mooncup is fine

the children are fine

hello. today, so far, is much better than yesterday

banana
redcurrants
pineapple
courgette

and walked to my friends house half an hour there and half an hour back, half of that giving dd a piggyback

i did not roar at dd1 this morning for hiding her fruit in the bin, no no, that was some other loudmouthed fishwife

off to make dinner now as far too many clubs etc after school today.

MayorNaze · 01/10/2009 13:29

and my friend has 3 under 3 and they are all so cute and sweet, i am not broody, not in the least. not even a teeny weeny bit.

really.

MayorNaze · 01/10/2009 13:31

but not quite so unbroody that i want 13. goodness me suddenly the hormones have settled at that thought. phew.

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 01/10/2009 14:25

lol @ Mayor!

I hope the moves goes well SB. Will it be you and ds in the new place?

I have raging pmt today, although it's not really pre as I've got my period today. Does that make it menstrual tension?

So far my day has been a bit of a disaster, although I think a lot of it is because I'm overacting, what with the MT and all that. I think the day will only improve when I finally slip into bed tonight!

On that miserable note I'll fuck off and be miserable elsewhere!

ThePinkOne · 01/10/2009 14:34

Oh dear! What a mardy unfruity bunch we are! I'm a bit cheery today as DS has slept through 2 nights this week Unfortunately the first night DH woke me up with enough olbas oil to make my eyes bleed!! And we're all bunged up and coldy.

But hey-ho. Fruit and veg consumption is pretty shocking late so I'm trying to get back on track and have had 4 for breakfast the last 2 days. Then I lose my drive and have about 1 for the rest of the day. But never mind. Baby steps and I'm running and swimming and have just blown the dust off the yoga DVD.

Good luck with the move SB. Hope MW appointment goes ok TF. Love and fruitiness to all

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 01/10/2009 18:15

Hope the move all goes well SB...

littlerach · 01/10/2009 21:11

Lemur, my old house mate used to say we all had PMT costantly:
Pre menstrual tension
Present menstrual tension
post menstrual tension

Works fo rme!

I ahve just got in and scoffed marmalad eon toast, a nectarine and a pear.

Lunch was banana, grapes and museli bar hting.

No Veg

Hurrah for walking babies
And hous emoves
Lovely to see you Mits

Goodnight.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 02/10/2009 17:46

Thanks LR. I am shamefully unvegger like and feel fraudulent for posting at times.

My food philosophy is sort of 'grab and go' at the moment.

How are you LR?

FrayedKnot · 02/10/2009 19:50

Hello all

SB hope it all goes well

TF I hope you gt to do the parading DD2 bit - how lovely

My pelvic floor is knackered after just one, so...or perhaps it gets to a point where it can;t get any worse

And the poor woman died 10 years after she had her last child

I'm crap on F&V, like you Pink I am managing some with breakfast and then it goes decidedly UN-pear shaped

MayorNaze · 02/10/2009 20:00

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 03/10/2009 00:42

Life is....'challenging', but I am getting there. Thank-you LR.
DS saw the the CAMHS counsellor today and he said that Ds's progress was remarkable and a testimony to both how hard we had worked and to my 'determination, strength and stoicism'. I am not blowing my own trumpet but after the last 2/3 years it was really nice to hear.
In some respects I am physically, emotionally and mentally drained, but there is more a sense of 'where do we go from here?' instead of wondering if we will get through each day without there being a tremendous rage.

I am still on anti-depressants and my Doctor and SS feel that counselling will be greatly beneficial, so I started that this week.

It is a bit like going into a garden after a storm has been and looking at all the damage, it is tiring but at least you can start putting things back together and trying to make sense of things.

Some days I don't even put the radio on because I just like the quiet.....

I hope everyone else is doing OK.

littlerach · 03/10/2009 08:42

Oh Mitys, that's good ot hear.

ABW, any better this morning?
