Eat fruit and vegetables - 10/10 thread BOOTCAMP, all welcome

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

The lady who died 10 years after her last born was one of FK's ancestors.

Yesterday:

banana
blueberries
pear
grapes
cucumber
peas

baby lemur is a mega grump today - I think it's teeth bless him. DH is off doing motorcross today, so it's just me and his royal grumpyness. I think I'll take him out for a loooooooooooooong walk this afternoon.

MayorNaze · 03/10/2009 14:30

ah i see. i love geneology. my ancestors were yorkshire miners, some of them were so young when they went down the pits

fascinating stuff though

i can now add banana and apple and a posh fruit medley thing to the list.

but no exercise

Hello

Thank you Lemur for explaining my randomness

Celery
Lettuce leaf

er......

Have just been to stock up again though.

I'm cold and have that feeling of a herd of elephants sitting on my chest. I fear a cold is a' comin'.

FrayedKnot · 04/10/2009 19:56

Goodness...
Where are you all?

SuperBunny · 04/10/2009 20:12

I think I have a chest infection or something - I've had a cough for 4 weeks now, since I had swine flu. My throat & stomach muscles hurt, I can't talk because it makes me cough and when I cough I get light headed and wobbly and I'm so fed up of not being well.

1/2 banana
1/2 apple
broccoli
peas
lettuce
juice

Oh, long-ish walk along beach. Well, sort of running after DS on his bike.

I walked about 10 miles on Friday and I have eaten a bit of f&v over the weekend. There.

Bunny, you need looking after. Proper recuperation and all that. You are excused exercise but must make special effort on f&v.

Hello to everybody.

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 05/10/2009 08:26

yesterday:

banana x2
apple
mushrooms
onion

was helping at a Nearly New Sale yesterday, was bloody knackered when I got home. Hopefully we made lots of money though. It was packed. Most defo handbags at dawn to get the best stuff!

Hope you poorly veggers get better soon xxx

TigerFeet · 05/10/2009 10:59

Have you all fallen in the pit?

dd2 is shedding an entire layer of skin, she looks like she has the galloping lurgy. She is 2 weeks old today and has gained almost a pound already. No wonder I'm so fucking knackered She is feeding every 2-3 hours or so round the clock . DH back at work today. DD1 is pissed off because she has to go to school and she knows that dd2 and I are at home... but over the weekend she was saying she was looking forward to today because she could play in the playground with her friends... I think she's getting a bit sleep deprived too. We had an awful night last night, one keeping the other awake for most of the night, I almost considered keeping dd1 at home, but she seemed fine so to school she has gone.

I am eating loads, am permanently hungry. I need to go shopping today for f&v as I am surviving on toast. I am mostly loving cake chocolate bananas. I can't remember being this hungry with dd1. I am constantly roaming the kitchen looking for something tasty to eat. Somehow lettuce doesn't cut it, it has to be carby and stodgy.

Not much exercise here either, but I am going to start walking this week.

SB take it easy, you've been ill then you've moved house, no wonder you're run down and not recovering.

MayorNaze · 05/10/2009 14:12

strawberries
blueberries
raspberries in flapjack
walking round garden centre for couple of hours

SB you sound run down lovey. can you not take some tonic or something? you can buy one called metetone which is full of vits and might help perk your immune system up a bit?

TF dd2 did the whole skin peely thing - i remember sitting in tears when she was 5 days old as her tummy skin was all papery and peely and i thought i'd broken her somehow

Toot - change that name hope you weren't too bored and hungry yesterday {{{{}}}}

littlerach · 05/10/2009 14:52

Oh SB, hope you're feeling better soon.
You've had so much on, take it easy.

Lemur, I once helped at a NNsale in Bath - god they were awful, all falling out over the tables. the ones here aren't much better though!

TF, lettuce is only appealing with lots of dresing or coleslaw especially in the cold and damp like i is now. Hot buttery toast much better

Yesterday
Veg lasagne with mushrooms, red and gree peppers, courgettes, sweetcorn and lentils.
salad
nectarine
pear
grapes
rasins

Today
same lasagne
salald

Have also made soup veg soup fo rtomorrow.

And have made bread in maker but it hasn't risen at all
It is either slightly out of date yeast (4 days) or because the powere went off for 1 minutes, tiwce.
Whaddya rerackonn?

ABitWrong · 05/10/2009 18:51

I reckon it is laminator syndrome LR

ABitWrong · 05/10/2009 18:52

Thanks Mayor. I didn't have too long to wait. Just long enough to finish the second cuff.

MayorNaze · 05/10/2009 19:29

right Toot - you and me - cafe in BoA - fri 10am. be there or be without coffee. yes? no? anyone else care to join us?
wotcha crocheting? i am knitting socks it is not the way i think most people knit socks but that way is too hard

leeks
peas
brocolli
baby sweetcorn

pool was closed but wandered round town. if your dd wanted to dress like my naughty little sister what would you put her in? i am thinking long sleeved slightly old fashioned dress but charity shops not much cop today...

MayorNaze · 05/10/2009 19:30

i have given up with my breadmaker - too inconcsitent and always crust way too hard. actually much easier to beat it about meself. ah well.

FrayedKnot · 05/10/2009 20:16

I am sorely tempted to join you in cafe at 10am on Friday. Not sure I could drive there that quickly though

RL problems are rearing their ugly heads for me just now, so trying to distract myself on here

TF you sound like you are getting on so well! I was ravenous with DS. All I can recommend is eat, eat, and then eat some more

How about bananas / sweet potatoes / avocado etc to keep you full but still be vegging? I must admit a satsuma ain;t gonna do it when you're on 2 hourly feeds, I don;t think.

Our breadmaker is hopeless.

I just tend to making my own pizza, naan & did make some quite passable pitta bread t'other day.

I am missing Veggers past. Where is 100? And Stuffit? And everyone else come to think of it

FrayedKnot · 05/10/2009 20:19

Mayo I think MNLS wore smocked dresses with little flowers on, or plaid skirts with sensible jumpers.

Actually that reminds me, did anyone have those kind of mini kilts that were fashionable in the 70's with a kind of built in vest bit (made of itchy nylon?).

I'm sure that is what she wore.

littlerach · 05/10/2009 20:43

Oh I had one of those.
Actually, mpre than one I htink.
I hope things are ok, FK.

ABW, at laminator suggestion
I haven't broken anything for ages...
well, unless the fact that the photocopier at my not-liked job had aa Out Of Order sign on last week, the day after I'd had a marathin copying session

Dd1 says the bread looks like a giant yorkshire pudding
But she's still pleased, as she likes yorkshir epuddings!!

Strawberry trifle
tomatoes
pear
grapes
plus previous.

Where's MollY?

SuperBunny · 05/10/2009 22:51

And me, I had one of those. With a knitted white cardigan.

OP posts:
ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 06/10/2009 08:04

I bloody loved those kilt/dress things. Mine had a leather buckle at the top of the skirt and a big kilt pin at the bottom. Kilt pins would probably be banned from childrens clothing now!

yesterday:

banana x2
blueberries
carrots x2
cauliflower
cucumber
humous
onion
mushrooms

Yes where is everyone? 100x, Guad, Boco, Franny, Stuffit, Mango, Moll and everyone else whose names escape me - PLEASE COME BACK.........

You ok FK? Anything we can do to help love?

ILikeToQuickstepItTangoIt · 06/10/2009 08:06

Doah - forgot to wave hello to TF. Hurrah for new baby, hurrah for putting on a pound, but not a hurrah for sleepless nights. They are shit, but they won't last forever - I have repeated that mantra MANY times.

Soup, beans on toast, scrambled eggs on toast and jp's are GREAT bf'ing lunches.

FrannyandZooey · 06/10/2009 09:09

morning veg chaps
i have come to tell you ds2 can say "mango" [bursting with pride]
well "mang mang" anyway
i knew you would share my joy

tiger you are probably craving all kinds of nutrients and lots of calories
soya (or any) milkshake with banana and cocoa (cacao if you can get it) powder and any good stuff you can bear to put in there - like protein powder (hemp powder) from health shop - or just by itself, is good
plus kiki plus multi vit for lactating women plus calcium plus extra iron

plus SLEEP and FEET UP whenever possible
put all else to one side
and lots of fluids

right, must go and teach ds2 to say purple sprouting broccoli
xx

MayorNaze · 06/10/2009 09:28

ssshhh..there it is...a very rare, lesser-spotted franny...

littlerach · 06/10/2009 16:00

Hey Fran, hope rl is treating you well

I have made another loaf. And i htink it has worked
And, my yeast wasn't out of date, I was a year ahead

I'm not really a walking disaster, ask TooT

Raisins
grapes
pear
avacaod
tomatoes

I saw a huge dragonfly at preschool today, it was so pretty.
