Eat fruit and vegetables - 10/10 thread BOOTCAMP, all welcome

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Happy Birthday Boco

Glad to hear you had a lovely holiday Pink. What'up with ds? Is he doing your mash in at the mo?

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 18:03

Hi Lemur! DS was up til half 9/ten two nights on hols eating banana and breadsticks cause he wouldn't sleep! He still wakes up in the night too and from dd being such a gem it's a shock to the system!! And I just feel so shite from lack of sleep. Not helped by spending 2 hours cleaning up DD's vomit last night - finally got to bed at 2 and DS was up at 5

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/09/2009 18:30

Lack of sleep is harsh. How many times does ds wake for a feed? Baby Lemur didn't sleep through until he was 6 or 7 months, they were 7 looooong months

Do you think it was a hiccup because you were on holiday?

Is ds still in your room, or his own room? Baby Lemur had to go in his own room because we kept waking eachother up and it just got silly/hellish.

I hope your dd is better today.

We went for a walk today and I realised the hedgerow that is about 50 yards from my front door is covered in blackberries, sloe's and cobnuts. I'm not quite sure how I haven't realised that before

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 19:22

He usually only wakes once but it twice til about a month ago. And he is good, just feeds and goes back to sleep but it's just not ok!! We put him in his own room at about 4 months cause DH was waking him up.

We've got loads of blackberries in our village! It's fab when it takes you 5 minutes to pick what would cost you about a fiver in Tesco your local fruit shop! What are cobnuts?

Veg stir fry for dinner. Apple.

ABitWrong · 12/09/2009 19:39

PinkI hopeyou are okay,.#

Love toall.

I amactually cooking realfood. With veg in it.

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 19:57

Go ABW! Are you going to eat the real food? I've just had a magnum

FrayedKnot · 12/09/2009 20:06

Happy Birthday Boco! Hope you are having a a lovely day.

Pink, glad you had a good break although the lack of sleep sounds severe...can you catch up a bit this weekend?

I do remember those hellish days / nights when you never seem to be able to make it up.

I used to collapse with DS on the sofa about 1pm every day while he slept on my chest, I would doze, this was when he was about 9 months, because he wouldn;t sleep anywhere but on me, and he was always up at least twice in the night as well

ABW that sounds good.

I've been on an expedition to buy lots of f&v, haven;t eaten much of it yet, but it feels like a good start.

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 20:23

Hi FK! How're you?

DD doesn't sleep so I can't catch up in the week and weekends are difficult cause I'm not very good at lying in and afternoon naps never happen between lunch/dinner/feeding DS/doing family stuff! I sometimes manage a quiet half hour lie down or more rarely a snooze.

It won't last forever, it won't last forever, it won't last forever.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/09/2009 21:22

God yes, aren't blackberries really expensive in the shops. I think I may make an apple, rhubarb and blackberry crumble this week. Although I quite fancy making a cobbler if I can find a recipe.

Cobnuts are hazelnuts. They are really good. I think I'll roast some and make some choc cookies with them.

Do you want my opinion/ideas on ds sleeping Pink? I know how fecking annoying other peoples opinions can be

Where is LR? Maybe she has suffocated under a pile of higgidy pies?

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 21:36

No, please do! I was wondering about starting a thread asking about routines but I'm not sure I have the drive to get through the difficult part of implementing something!

ABitWrong · 12/09/2009 21:36

LR isaway for theweekend

ABitWrong · 12/09/2009 21:37

cobbler is easy,it isjust scone

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 21:44

Ah! Having never made scone or cobbler I was going to say isn't it just cake!! Or is that charlotte?

How was your dinner ABW?

ABitWrong · 12/09/2009 21:57

dinner okay i suppose but i had to get pissed to face it

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 22:00

Did you have a lovely day Boco and get spoilt rotten?

Boco · 12/09/2009 22:45

Well. No. I was a grumpy old bat because dp didn't really bother. I don't really like birthdays, they make me grumpy. I make a real effort to surprise dp so when he's clueless and just forgets I'm unfairly enraged. But anyway nevermind.

ThePinkOne · 12/09/2009 22:49

Sounds about normal DH sometimes goes all out and makes a big effort but it's invariably wrong anyway!!

Babieseverywhere · 12/09/2009 23:48

Just cyber stalking Tigerfeet.

Well what are you waiting for, the new carpet is down and the nursery finished (I assume)

Get a move on, I have been cuddling lovely DN (my DS was seriously not impressed and shouted at me until I gave DN back to my sister) and I need another newborn snuggle fest asap.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/09/2009 07:54

Yes, come on TF, pull your finger out

What a bummer Boco, you have every reason to be pissed off. DH is great at making a fuss for my birthday, but he doesn't like it in return (so he says), so I have made a mental note to spoil him rotten next year.

Pink - start a thread and I'll go on there. List what ds's sleep patterns are at the mo and what ultimately you would like them to be.

I didn't realise cobbler was the same as scone . I have to say ABW you nearly always have an answer to people's questions. You are like Wikipedia!

ABW - are you talking to someone in RL about what's going on with you at the moment? I'm worried about you and you need someone who can offer you rl support {{{hugs}}}

ThePinkOne · 13/09/2009 09:20

Hi BE! Been quiet since yesterday. Think there's anything to report? Or can we just annoy the heck out of Tiger with our musings

Any twinges Tiger Not long now

Lemur, I'm actaully thinking a bit differently about it this morning! He's really only waking up at 5 now, which I think most babies do for a while at this age - it's just that DD did that from sleeping longer so he's just stretched out his wakings and now only wakes at 5! I am going to start getting him up at 7 (he's just woken up today) this week to structure the day a bit more. I tried this before holiday and I was just so tired that I was falling back to sleep til DD woke up at 8 So this week is bed at 9 for me and getting him up at 7 and see how the day time sleep goes cause I think decent daytime naps always helps the night sleep. I'll let you know how I get on and if you want to add anything you can fb me.

Ooh, I wonder if TooT forwarded my email to Mits last week?

Lol at ABW being like wiki! She is very good
