For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Good plan Pink, I think you're spot on. You're doing what I would do/suggest. I DON'T do cc, cio or restricting feeds. I believe there is nearly always another way that doesn't involve either the baby or mum, or both! in tears.

The mornings are getting darker and that will probably help. Baby Lemur hung on to the 4am feed for months then jsut dropped it of his own accord. As tired as I was I was grateful that he woke, got fed, then went back to sleep straight away.

I'm defo in the camp that believe daytime naps help the nightime sleep. A strung out baby doesn't equal a sleepy and calm baby.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/09/2009 10:19

Oh, and I don't do a routine strictly based around the clock either.

There's a rough structure to the day but I don't have meals weighed out and naps dictated by the clock.

It really works for us.

ThePinkOne · 13/09/2009 10:46

Thanks Lemur DD pretty much slept round the 2,3,4 routine (nap 2 hours after they get up in the morning, then 3 hours after they wake up from first nap then bed time is 4 hours after they wake from 2nd nap). DS quite often sleeps 2 and a half hours in the morning, but mornings are usually when DD has activities so that doesn't work! Poor little sod I'm a little bit worried that when he's older and doesn't just drop off when he's tired, that he won't have a solid sleep association (like a dummy or being in his cot) to make it easier for me! But I'll start this week (and shout at me if I'm on here after 9pm ) and give it a good go.

Was just about to list f&v but I haven't had any!! DCs have had a pear. I've had shredded wheat and cake

TigerFeet · 13/09/2009 18:46

It's not my finger that needs pulling out Lemur

Anyone any idea how many portions there are in a mahoosive pineapple?

I'm another believer that daytime naps promote better sleep at night. It was certainly true for dd at least. I was bloody lucky with her, she seemed to settle into a fairly consistent routine without any input from me, but I can really see how that can't work with no.2. Oh joy! I hope the earlier starts work for you Pink. We'll have to be up around that time anyway to get dd to school.

I've walked a fair bit today, and am just about to scoff a roast dinner consisting of a good 4 portions of veg. Pineapple later, and carrot cake

Hello veggers

Have been to Newcastel for weekend for 80th birthday party.

Was lovely.
Weather was loevly too
Food good, but not so much F&V!
DD2 had free reign and we found she had eaten 8 profiteroles and 7 mini fruit tarts

Happy belated birthday Boco.
Thinking flowery toughts TF
hwello everyone else!!

ThePinkOne · 13/09/2009 20:08

You're never 80 LR

DD was the same TF and I feel like I'm letting DS down by him not having the same cause although DD formed her own routine, we would work around it as regards going out and having meals etc. DS has missed lunch twice this week being asleep and not been able to catch up cause we've been busy later on (he's not of an age yet where I can throw him a breadstick in his carseat!)

Whilst having 2 is wonderful and I adore the pair of them, it's a bit of a juggling act and I feel like I'm letting one or both of them down most of the time!!!!!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/09/2009 20:13

Pokey sex is what you need TF. Really good cervix bashing stuff. It worked for my friend

Glad you had a lovely weekend RL. 8 profiteroles and 7 fruit tarts is quite some achievment!

We had a birthday bbq for baby lemur today, so I am now pooped and slightly headachey from drinking pink champagne and not enough water. Baby Lemur had a great time and ate far too much shit stuff, but hey, it is his birthday!

banana
blueberries
coleslaw
grapes
carrot
cucumber

ABitWrong · 13/09/2009 20:14

LR sure don't look80,she is gorgeous

ThePinkOne · 13/09/2009 20:20

Aw! Happy bday baby Lemur xx

TigerFeet · 13/09/2009 20:29

Ahem, attempts have been made in that direction Lemur, much hilarity ensued, poor dh

pmsl @ LR being 80

Pink I doubt you're letting them down at all, children are resilient things. Now, all you have to do is remind me that in approx 6 months' time and I am having inevitable angst.

Carrots
Sprouts
Parsnips
Apple
OJ

Will have pineapple and figs before I go to bed. So 7.

We don't fit in at all, the neighbours disapprove and the police stopped us loading our campervan opposite as they thought we were robbing the church but hey ho!
