Wake Pea Up Before you Goji - 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

raisisn
banana

SB, cake is a necessity I htink. A big one. Lemon drizzle? Apple? Pear and hazelnut and chocolate?

littlerach · 11/06/2009 12:52

Oh the thoughts ar eworking - much better forecast for Sunday now

pinkspottywellies · 11/06/2009 15:42

Lol at pinkspottyfanjo New name perhaps?

Wombling I wish I could say something sensible re job but I have no idea. How badly do you not want to do the more money FT one? I would always go with whichever job will make you happiest rather than money/cv/prospects. That stuff's all very well but if you hate what you're doing then it doesn't really help.

SB definietly make cake. You're being so fantastic. Well done on getting through this (((hugs)))

I swear in fornt of DC when I get really cross. Can't decide if that's worse than the odd one slipping out in normal conversation.

Hi Kelpie!

TigerFeet · 11/06/2009 15:49

Wombling that is a really difficult decision to make, I feel for you . I count myself very lucky that I scraped through the last round of redundancies here or I would have been in a very similar position. It's so hard to find part time work that pays a decent salary unless you've worked in that role full time first - that's how I ended up with my part time job anyway, I did it full time for nearly two years before cutting my hours. Could you try to negotiate for the first job as you said and then fall back on the other one if it doesn't work out? If you're going to end up working FT anyway you may as well have a more rewarding, challenging job with a better salary. Good luck

My arm feels fine today, I was expecting it to be sore but it's no more than a little uncomfortable. I need to keep it dry though so I can't have a bath/shower. I'm going to have to wash my hair over the sink tonight, it looks manky today [paranoid]

TigerFeet · 11/06/2009 15:51

Oh hello PSF - x posted there

littlerach · 11/06/2009 15:52

TF, hope your arm gets better soon.

Dd2 has come home with cuts all over nose and top lip and slightly black eyes
She tripped over her friend and did a somersault and landed on her face

On Tuesday it was her knees all cut.

SuperBunny · 11/06/2009 16:27

Poor DD2 LR. Hope she's ok.

TF, when do you have to decide? When will you know about the other job?

OsmosisBanana · 11/06/2009 17:00

Ello. Haven't really read but know it's your meet up thingummy this w/e, hope you all have a great time and someone gets inappropriately drunk in my abscence.

Any more babies yet?

How's the kitchen porn progressing Guad? My kitchen was finished last w/e, so had enormous dinner party comprising of many fancy things I have never cooked before it went well though.

DS2 excema any better Fran? Our Dr finally gave in and gave us adult steroid cream for DD sorted the shit out of that problem though.

Finished 1st Year! Yippee! Transpires I have to do 2 year MSc in Cardiff when these 3 years all done. Booo! Got a 1st in all but one of my modules. Yippee! Start work on Monday. Boooo! DD potty trained!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling strangely flat actually. I am hoping it is the fear of dealing with Bristol rush hour traffic again rather than anything else looming on the horizon that I have forgotten but my subconscious hasn't....

exercise... not much but did push pram with 2.5 yr old in it up St Mike's Hill, TooT, you will testify to the challnge of this

F&V....

uh

3 massive strawberries

but I am having 2 peppers, 2 courgettes and an onion later.

My diet has gone down hill since starting a nutrition degree . Will need to start fattening the ol' body goose up though as am going to Glasto for a week which will not be full of F&V methinks.

big love to all.

Trollyroger · 11/06/2009 17:05

oh wombling, tht is a very hard call...no advice but good luck xx

have only skimmed thread. hope everyone esle is ok!

SuperBunny · 11/06/2009 17:27

OsBa! A first in all but one - you clever thing!

pointydog · 11/06/2009 17:34

Working full time for a two thirds drop in pay would seriously piss me off. Is that sustainable? It would stick in my craw every day.

Definitely try to negotiate a 4 day week, definitely.

Bunny, how sad to be saying all your goodbyes.

TooTicky · 11/06/2009 18:07

OsBa!!!!! I have missed you.
Congrats on results and much respec' to you for pushing sizeable child up St Mike's Hill!!!

Wombling, good luck with your decision. I am crap at advice but am thinking of you.

Love to everybody.

pointydog · 11/06/2009 18:52

what is a goji?

SuperBunny · 11/06/2009 19:00

It's a kind of berry

SuperBunny · 11/06/2009 19:02

They are really called wolfberries and are from china but grow wild in the UK, I think. In hedges.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 11/06/2009 19:25

Thanks for all the support. . Sometimes can't see an end to it all. I am really lucky to have a generally optimistic outlook on life though. And have some fabulous people who prop me up when I need a good shake.

Wombling...I really don't know, difficult choices and hard to envisage which is most likely to be the most rewarding.

OSBA!!!! WOW, HI , good to hear things are generally going well for you.

LR...poor DD. They are so small and fragile, you'd have the hurt yourself for them wouldn't you?

I'm with the 'yes' to cake crew SB. On any occasion TBH.

Hope the weather is Fab for sunday.

I have the day off tomorrow...I am ready for one. (selfish 'me' day off). I think DS is due home for lunch otherwise I would have gone into the city and had cake. Will paint and hobble run instead though.

Melon x3,
juice,
banana,
apple,
onion,
pepper,
tomato,

Right....I have the evening to myself once DD is in bed so I am going to start with long luxurious bath

SuperBunny · 11/06/2009 20:54

Enjoy your day off, Mits

I have good news - DS is coming over to spend the night. Ex called (I think he wants to go out and I am a convenient babysitter. Doesn't matter that I had plans for tonight) and made me feel bad about all this - that I am taking DS away The stupid fecker is MAKING me leave. I had agreed (& applied) to stay here permanently.

So, now I will have to stay home all night and share my cake. Normally I would not be thrilled about all this. I s'pose we'd better make a father's day card too.

pinkspottywellies · 11/06/2009 20:55

Nearly all packed and ready to hit Legoland!!!!!!!!!!! WooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooo

Hi OsBa! Good to see you

Banana, apple, dried apricots, huge veg stew (4 - I weighed it), sweetcorn, soya beans, kiwis, satsumas. Hooorah 11 Was contemplating juice but won't open carton before I go away!

See you sooooooooooooon!

ps there's no way I'm getting to sleep tonight!!

pinkspottywellies · 11/06/2009 20:58

Can you make him a father's day card that bites? Shitbag

Good news that you're getting a night with DS though!! Best reason for sharing cake

FrayedKnot · 11/06/2009 21:06

OH yay SB!

Enjoy your evening

For the sake of this being a public forum I'll be restrained in my thoughts about your ex.

Mits hope you have a lovely day tomorrow, enjoy.

OsBa congrats on finishing your 1st year, and doing pretty well by the sound of it

Have you told anyone in RL about 10/10, Pointy? I want to know what your friend cooked for tea.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 11/06/2009 21:42

Well, SB, have a lovely lovely evening sharing you cake and making a fathers day card that not only bites but leaves a nasty recurring rash on the miserable tosser gentleman.
