For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh i forgot to mention the chocolate i would undoubtedly eat as well

ahundredtimes · 12/06/2009 19:37

Do I? I have probably not achieved maximum airiness. Is a friday, and I am tired. Tired and wordy.

FrannyandZooey · 12/06/2009 19:40

ok today
i ate
oats and seeds and all that gumpf + apple, raisins, banana, pineapple = 4

peanut butter and banana sandwich - 1

strawberries - 1

egg mayonnaise sandwich, couscous salad, raspberry cupcake (m+s) = 0

so 6

i always start well
but dinner went wrong and i was scuppered
i know 6 portions of f+v is more than about 90% of population (sadly this is true)
but it is poor 10/10ing

pointydog · 12/06/2009 19:43

yes, it all hangs on the evening with me. Which is ok because it means everyone ends up eating more good stuff.

I should ty to drink juice and take aprocots for snack as well as banana

mollyroger · 12/06/2009 19:43

oh poin ty. I have just remembered I also ate a slice of cake

Yesterday I ate a lot of cake.....

pointydog · 12/06/2009 19:46

How come you are missing out key things like cake and chocolate from the list?

CKelpie · 12/06/2009 19:48

A side order of emotional blackmail perhaps but not as a primary tactic. YANBU

My breakfast was yogurt and coffee so I could easily replace that with a few fruit portions for a start. The pinapple was grazed on throughout the day from about 11am to 4pm, the bulk being eaten at lunchtime with some cottage cheese and I am about to have home made oven chips dipped in houmous for dinner(it being friday). I will knock up a salad too I s'pose.

My job is a sedentry office job. I normally fit in more exercise but I am so tired I just haven't got the energy atm.

mollyroger · 12/06/2009 19:48

Because I am tired and a cake fiend and old and a fibber and I forgot didn't think it was relevant...

pointydog · 12/06/2009 19:49

oh I love chips and houmus, kelpie. Home made roasted potato wedges withhoumus my fave.

pointydog · 12/06/2009 19:49

although carbs are my downfall.

FrannyandZooey · 12/06/2009 19:50

god the chips / hummus thing sounds gorgeous
i have never had that
i am fond of chips and mayonnaise myself

pointydog · 12/06/2009 19:51

you would not believe how heavenly they go together, fran

FrannyandZooey · 12/06/2009 20:05

i do believe it i assure you
i shall be confirming it soon i have no doubt

gawd i have a headache
blah

CKelpie · 12/06/2009 20:27

Chips and mayo is delish but not good for losing weight, I sometimes make curried potato wedges for dipping which go down very well.

I am short but far from 'slight' atm, when I exercise more my appetite is bigger.

I will try more but smaller portions.
Would struggle with nuts and seeds - they tend to ferment rather than digest in my stomach. It's not pleasant.

I 'fess I did manage to lever in a custard creme this afternoon, just to be sociable you understand.

pointydog · 12/06/2009 20:29

just one custard cream? Is it possible to just eat one?

mollyroger · 12/06/2009 20:29

In those heady yers Before Children, our local kebab shop did chips and hummous and salad in a pitta bread. it was lush and my favourite ever post-pub snack (and least likey to give me food poising, I figured )

I have a stonking headache too. Maybe it will thunder!

pointydog · 12/06/2009 20:31

oh gorgeious, moll. I might make that myself one weekend

ahundredtimes · 12/06/2009 20:42

Is Moll ignoring my posts because they were annoying? I need to know. I did do a wordy disclaimer post, which made TooT think I was not quite like myself

pointydog · 12/06/2009 20:48

yes, you are fukcing annoying

FrannyandZooey · 12/06/2009 20:48

100 fox and i need you to swoon at p gale in person for us on tuesday
see thread please

FrannyandZooey · 12/06/2009 20:50

pointy don't start with the fuck offs again
the pit is being dry cleaned - i'm going to start escorting people to it after the meet up

CKelpie · 12/06/2009 20:52

I had no choice...it was the last one

mollyroger · 12/06/2009 20:54

no, no hundred...and thank you, as always , for your wisdom.
I was just trying to 'switch' off for the evening. I felt as though I had demanded enough attention from you beautiful fruiters this month already...

mollyroger · 12/06/2009 20:55

and I don't mean that in a fishing sort of way
