For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes - today I will see DS for a whole 45 minutes. I spoke to him yesterday and he sobbed and kept saying, "It's ok mummy, I'm ok. I'm ok"

I am making focaccia and a tomatoey sauce for pasta. I am not going to buy anything other than F&V til I leave so will be living on store cupboard stuff. I haven't had a cooked meal since last week so thought it was time I made something proper.

SuperBunny · 10/06/2009 19:01

Thank you for remembering, Lemur - that was nice

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/06/2009 19:11

Pointy - this is why I am called Lemur

Oh SB. Try and be brave, it sounds like ds is. I don't know what to say, I feel quite choked for you.

pointydog · 10/06/2009 19:14

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 19:31

SB . Poor little brave thing. (You and dh ) Yes, make proper food. Look after self. Have pudding also.

Mits I know how you feel re tiredness. Get lots of rest! I shout this at people all the time, whilst cheerfully not doing it myself. I am going to bed in precisely 15 minutes; dh at work and I'm done in.

yes, dd's eating thing been going on for ages. She has cerebral palsy, inc some fine motor and speech difficulties, so I think eating is hard for her but she has just decided to make it An Issue Of Defiance as well. I'm not in the least bit worried about it. Just CROSS - esp because dd2 has mirrored her behaviour and these lovely family mealtimes that are supposed to be the cornerstone of our very existence make dh and I want to start drinking at 6.07 every night.

I can't remember what I ate today, tbh. Too tired. I think I had a banana, and maybe there was a cherry tart in there too. I walk past a greengrocers on the way to work, so am going to start calling in daily.

ReallyReally · 10/06/2009 19:37

SB I meant you and ds [oh dear]

too tired to even emoticon

FrannyandZooey · 10/06/2009 19:38

ruddy hell sb
but it'll be fab when you're back here
thinking of you both

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 10/06/2009 19:43

Oh...SB... the biggest hugs and 'being strong' vibes. The time when you are back together is going to be so amazingly special. You will strengthen your closeness by knowing how important you are to each other IYSWIM.

With you all the way........

SuperBunny · 10/06/2009 19:57

I know it will be ok. It will. Thanks for being lovely.

lol @ reallyreally's precise time for need of drink

Homemade focaccia is delicious. Why have I not made it before? It's so easy and quick and no mess. Much easier than normal bread.

FrayedKnot · 10/06/2009 20:18

SB..I have so many things to say and I don;t think any of them are going to come out right, without sounding trite. Can you speak to DS on the phone most days? Hope things go well later.

The foccacia sounds delicious. have you ever tried making naan bread?

TF I'm sorry I think I missed your post about your lesion. Hope everything turns out to be OK.

RR it sounds like it has all got a bit entrenched. I hope the psychologist can help. I did also lol about the timing of the wine bottle opening

Mits, sorry you are having a bad week

spicemonster · 10/06/2009 20:19

I am not part of this thread but just wanted to applaud the OP on a truly inspired subject line.

TigerFeet · 10/06/2009 20:21

Oh Bunny Just think though... a month to go... that's no time at all

We had a lovely meal but dd got over tired and had Attitude. She's now in bed [phew]

F&V crap today, hey ho

SuperBunny · 10/06/2009 20:54

I know, exactly one month! Hurrah.

Thanks FK - I will speak to him most days. I have made naan, with far too much butter. Tis delicious. I love making different kinds of bread.

TigerFeet · 10/06/2009 21:01

I am a bad wife

I made dh a birthday cake, and stuffed it full of butter icing and slathered it in icing which dd and I then covered in yet more icing whilst adding pictures and pretty patterns - dh is an insulin dependent diabetic and it has played havoc with his blood sugar . Thankfully he can adjust his insulin dose accordingly (ie dose himself up with a tanker full) and is OK.

It wasn't even that nice, I overcooked it slightly and it's a bit dry

I am clearly not winning any domestic goddess competitions

pinkspottywellies · 10/06/2009 21:08

Banana
Raisins
Orange juice
Satsumas
Kiwis
Lettuce (tiny bit)
Carrots
Sweetcorn

Oh 7 and a bit. Thought I'd done better.

Tired. Lots of holiday planning to do.

DS had jabs today. He didn't get inconsolable this time! Hoorah! I also had my mangled fanjo checked out. I wasn't sure it was entirely back to normal after DS but apparently it's fine. Phew

Right better think about packing. Very excited about weekend

Trollyroger · 10/06/2009 21:15

SB, good luck with the move and everything surrounding it.

melon
apple
rasps
strawbs
tomaotes
olives
onions
mushrooms
OJ

poo. 9.

TigerFeet · 10/06/2009 21:17

hurrah for the healthy pinkspottyfanjo

FrayedKnot · 10/06/2009 21:45

Why are you trollying, molly?

womblingalong · 10/06/2009 22:31

Banana.

That is it, not even had dinner yet, am too stressed and hyper.

Pink, glad to hear fanjo is mangled no longer.

Mits, try and look after yourself, it sounds very hard.

SB, poor you and DS, hope tie doesn't pass too slowly for you.

TF, how's your arm? I am sure DH will cope with his blood sugar levels just fine, it's only once a year isn't it.

Am in a hyper dilemma state. I went for interview 3rd week of May, very last minute, for two jobs.

1 was part time, slightly more junior than I would like, PT, 3 days a week as in my current job (which I will be redundant from tomorrow) but a temp contract for 6 months, with a possibility they would extend.
The other was FT, which I really don't want to do, more senior, more challenging, and better for my CV.

Anyway, they have offered me the temporary contract today, but they want to make it full time now, due to workload. The salary would mean a paycut of 2/3rd's and I would have to pay for 2 more days childcare.

I want to negotiate to 4 days max, with an improved salary, as it is still only a temp contract, and I am so, so nervous. It would be great to just go straight into another job, and be able to bank my payoff (very low) rather than have to live on it. However is any job better than no job? Don't know.

What shall I dooooooo?

CKelpie · 10/06/2009 22:53

I have read the rules now... soz.

So I didn't manage to eat nearly 10 portions yesterday and as for today:

  1. Salad
  2. Houmous
  3. Banana

I have done no exercise today either...too tired, but tomorrow is another day.

Someone asked me if I have a mooncup - yes I have used a mooncup going on four years now and I will never go back.

I am developing a proper potty mouth, as one who never used to swear in from of ds I now catch myself (especially in the car) and I am ashamed of myself. Must stop it.

womblingalong · 10/06/2009 23:20

Hello CKelpie,

Sometimes I get seduced into swearing too much, and then I can't stop myself, it is mortifying when something slips out in fromt od DC's isn't it?

SuperBunny · 10/06/2009 23:51

Oh TF - poor DH! I'd have eaten your cake!

Hurrah for pink's fanjo.

Wonmbling, I don;t know what to do. As job is a job but I wouln't be happy with earning less and working more hours.

I am releieved that CKelpie has a mooncup.

I saw DS. Was lovely. Music teacher cried when we said our goodbyes, I cried, DS smiled bravely. I want cake. WOuld it be terribly indulgent to make one just for myself?

womblingalong · 11/06/2009 00:10

Chin up SB, I think cake just for oneself is mandatory on such occassions personally.

SuperBunny · 11/06/2009 00:14

Thanks wombling! I made that dangerous chocolate cake in a mug but I 10/10ed it and ate it with berries
