For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Evening everyone,

have managed grapes, watercress, lemon and strawberries so about 3 portions today, due to forgetting my packed lunch and breakfast at home today.

womblingalong · 09/06/2009 22:27

That was so interesting, I had to tell you twice

DS has been so cute recently, he is just 2 now, and his speech is developing so quickly at the moment. He repeats things back to us that are so comical, and he has such a deep voice it makes us giggle.

He has started to put his head towards me or DH and say "kiss me Mummy", and yesterday I was building towers with him with his wooden blocks and he said. "Wewl done mmmy, that's very good" before demolishing it. He keeps sitting up in his cot and saying, Mummy, can I have a little cuddle? I want to get up now"

FrayedKnot · 09/06/2009 22:38

Wombling that's lovely

SB what is a vacuum friend banana?

Aloe Vera - have taken for digestive problems and I think it helped. I don;t mind it.

RR you need some Sambucol elderberry extract with zinc. Great stuff for colds.

I did yoga

Dried berries & cherries
Blueberries
Satsumas
Strawbs
Veg pasta sauce
Beetroot
Lettuce
Cucumber
Pepper
Sweetcorn
Apple

Oh, better than I thought actually, although not all full portions.

Am at the thought of being the person who did loads of studying in the library at Uni and setting a good example

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 22:39

Aww, wombling he sounds lovely.

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 22:40

We need a new title. I liked one from last week but can't remember what it was.

CKelpie · 09/06/2009 23:03

Good evening! I have been toying with the idea of joining this thread but didn't know how to fit in 10 portions of fruit and veg...

Exercise - 1 hour on the cross trainer. Do you carry it over? Am I covered til next monday?
Fruit & Veg -

  1. A banana
Salad consisting of:
  1. Lettuce
  2. Peppers - 3 colours
  3. Cucumber
  4. Carrot
Spag Bol made with:
  1. Onion
  2. Courgette
  3. Carrot
  4. Tomato

I made houmous with my salad...do chickpeas count?

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 23:49

Hello Kelpie, welcome

Chickpeas do count.

Read the link at the bottom so Franny doesn't get upset for info on what constitutes a portion.

Nuts don't count.

Do you have a mooncup?

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 02:47

need new title soon

SuperBunny · 10/06/2009 03:03

Do a new one Toot. I can't remember any of the good title suggestions.

You're up late.

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 04:30

I might get jumped on..it wouldn't be democratically chosen. Sigh.

I vote for skipping the lime and mango.

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 10/06/2009 04:32

Since when were thread titles democratic? I distinctly remember there being a general consensus and another being picked! I still can't remember the suggestions but one had a PEA in the title and I liked that. Magos and limes are ok too.

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 04:32

Actually, fruit skipping is rather anti-thread, isn't it?

I am not up late, I am up early. There is a subtle difference.

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 04:35

True..true..but we are not Franny, and she writes the rules.

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 04:40

I think Wake Pea Up Before You Goji was the popular choice but I won't chance it. Franny will be up soon. Ish.

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 10/06/2009 04:42

Whatever the difference, it is Not Good. Hope you get some more sleep tomorrow.

YES - Wake Pea up before you Goji - FABULOUS. We MUST have that one!

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 04:44

I think I have forgotten how to sleep properly.

Took DS to enroll for Kickboxing yesterday, and was trying to explain that even grown ups find situations difficult and that for example I was very nervous at the thought of going into a strange place and asking questions and that a large part of me felt sick, and wanted to turn around and walk away.

He reassured me he would ask all the questions and gave me a hug.

We walked into the centre and he said

'this is my mum and she is scared of talking to you...!'

Bless.....

DD is on steroids for asthma.. and is missing a school trip today. Poor wee thing.

CKelpie...I can't answer your questions as I am a mere underling but hello and yes...do join us.

FrannyandZooey · 10/06/2009 08:02

oh yes do a title
i'm off to work, you can do the one you like, TooT, i have no objection
if i really want a particular title you will know about it

hello Kelpie! great start, it would be a good idea (eg IT IS THE RULES) to look at the portion chart in the OP, as you would have to eat quite a lot of bolognese sauce for it to be 4 portions
i know it has 4 different veg in it, but that's not quite the same thing
i wish you could carry exercise over
mind you i would have had to do about a month's worth

i feel tired fat and incompetent
marvellous

TooTicky · 10/06/2009 08:03

your ds is fab!!
