Guava Guava Guava Hey! Over The dill With The Strawbs Of A Thousand Men - 10/10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Bunny I don;t have a mooncup as admitted to further down this thread.

So POinty, how's yer f&v today?

FrayedKnot · 09/06/2009 18:43

BTW the reason I don;t have a mooncup is I am a bit scared of them.

I've read and read about them and in theory I am convinced but I'm still scared.

All that talk of suction and vacuums makes it worse

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 18:43
FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2009 18:44

yes pointy we'll have to take that into account next time you claim to have eaten 10

rach i have removal problems also (i am impatient and always in a rush. this is not a good combination wrt: mooncup usage)
i think the main thing to do is pinch HARD and slightly tilt to one side so you get a good loss of suction
otherwise when you pull - oh dear
once you;ve pinched good and hard, try to rock it back and forth if necessary to get it to stay unsuctioned while you ease it out
or is the problem that you can't reach it? in which case you are probably inserting too high...let us know the grisly details

wombling hello!

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 18:44

Well, if you are scared of them, maybe I can still talk to you.

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2009 18:45

oh sorry FK
they are marvellous, really, the suction and all that is as nothing, compared to that grotesque dragging thing you have to do to remove a tampon

ReallyReally · 09/06/2009 18:51

Franny!

aloe vera

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 18:52

rEALLY really what do you want to do with aloe vera?

ReallyReally · 09/06/2009 18:54

I don't know whether or not to take it

for recurrent thrush and getting every cold the dd's bring home

I remember sometime back in the day I think Franny was going on about it

I take a whole cocktail of stuff already I may start fizzing and blow up on my way to work one morning

pointydog · 09/06/2009 18:54

been having tea - sausages, new potatoes, peas and beetroot.

So

sultanans
banana
mixed salad
cabbage in coleslaw
peas
beetroot

will need to add some fruitage tongiht.

I can't see myself trying a mooncup. The suction/vacuum issue is indeed a worry.

And I know you don't want everyone to be the same on this thread so I'm sure knot and I will be excused our non-cuppage.

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 19:03

Interesting question, reallyreally. I wonder... I always get a cold when a Brit visits me - I think they bring their British germs over and they make me ill. I bet DS & I will have colds and coughs for about 6 months after we return.

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 19:05

Mmm, beetroot.

Does pickled beetroot count? Because I didn't think gherkins do but I might be wrong. But if beets count then gherkins should, shouldn't they?

pointydog · 09/06/2009 19:07

oh lordy, I hope pickled beetroot counts because that's what I eat. Loads of it. I'm teh only one in the pointy house who does.

I can't see why it wouldn't count.

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 19:10

I'd count it. Deffo.

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2009 19:16

"I know you don't want everyone to be the same on this thread"
wherever did you get THAT peculiar idea from?

RR, it wssn't me with aloe vera
i bought some to put on ds2's bottom and it virtually came out in blisters
nasty stuff
for persistent thrush i did no-sugar diet and probiotics - have you had any luck with those?

ReallyReally · 09/06/2009 19:26

ooh that is odd

It was ages ago, some juice or other, I remember you having

no matter; my memory is buggered for nearly all aspects of my life so this should come as no surprise

I did the anti-candida diet a while ago - 2007 - and nearly killed self tbh; I was ill with ME for over a year afterwards and I don't know if it was connected, but in my mind it was iyswim

and I am full of probiotics

I've had an odd couple of days, I've popped onto the rest of mn a few times and remembered precisely why I stopped coming on in the first place; I shall stay just on this thread from now on and not look anywhere else. I do see being on 10/10 like I saw spending time with the people who did a lot of work in the library when I was in the final year of my degree - you're all v good influences.

Bunny is it first time you have seen final series of Buffy? Oh I loved Buffy.

Sigh.

FrannyandZooey · 09/06/2009 19:35

elder berry extract
and kiki superfood

ReallyReally · 09/06/2009 19:47

ah well you see kiki is nearly an anagram of aloe vera

you can see how I got it confused

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 19:48

Yes, first time I've seen it, reallyreally. Was good.

littlerach · 09/06/2009 20:04

Thanks for all the mooncup chat

It is the suction thing.
Got it in fine.
Haven't cut any stalk off.
Tried ot get it out - eek!!!!
I piched it, squeezed it and turne dit and paicked!!!
I did get it out but maybe I was being too impatinet? I will try again. Tomorrow.
I did have Bad Thoughts that I would pull out my insides

Oh god, at the meet up you will all just remember that about me, won't you

Molly, Dd2 was v pleased with the stickers

RR, I haev heard of aloe vera juice either being really really good, or rubbish, depending on whom you speak to.

mollyroger · 09/06/2009 21:40

it is so utterly uttery grim and vile that I refuse to belive it can have any beneficial effects at all.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 09/06/2009 21:41

Lol...so do you think the mooncup talk has scared off the lurkers for a bit?

A company near me has high claims about Aloe Vera and Arthritis RR, so am tempted to try it...or move somewhere warmer.

I used to like Buffy when I watched tv.

Going to try and find Toot....see y'all soon...

mollyroger · 09/06/2009 21:45

Mits, it was for rhumatism I tried it, Seriously, don't!

SuperBunny · 09/06/2009 22:11
