For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I get 10 loads of times but noone ever offers me a sticker. Just cos I is tough and hard and piratey, you all think I have no feelings. Or any susceptibility to stickers....

Well just for that I'm going to starve myself of fruit and veg . And get scurvy. That'll teach you, oh yes.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/05/2009 19:49

lol at scurvy

I would give you a sticker Moll but I might get thrown in the pit

OJ
banana
salald leaves
satsumas
tomatoes
cucumber
radishes
pineapple
mushrooms
onions
peppers

An hours walk around the park in our village. The park has a National Trust house in the grounds and we looked around the house today for the first time (we've lived in the village for 2 years )

I was looking forward to seeing a huge Gainborough that is there, but the bloody thing was on loan to someone else. God dammit.

TooTicky · 04/05/2009 20:47

Molly, have this nice scratch'n'sniff lime sticker in case the scurvy does take hold.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 04/05/2009 20:50

I'm surprised you lot have any time to focus with all the talking the busy lives you lead....

Have skimmed thread..... well anyway,
SB mentioned beetroot,
Pointy was 'pointed'
Franny sadly has sore skin issues , so sorry, you do seem to cope remarkably with it, even though it probably doesn't feel like it sometimes....

People are talking about shoes....I want something a bit like this, but not quite there, can anyone give any helpful suggestions? would prefer a back on them.

Busy weekend generally with DC's, fab run on saturday night, could have just kept going.Took DC's clothes shopping on sunday and bike ride with DS.Today, a bit out of sorts, feels like something is missing and have a humungous headache.

Pretty focussed...

but can't think due to light of screen hurting my eyes...might be a migraine then....

Always so good to catch up with you, it is like coming to a favourite cafe. How is Guad? Is she OK?

Do we have lurkers again?

There that will teach them lol..

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 04/05/2009 20:52

Oh Toot!!! ((((())))),

And molly and lemur...,

just going to say goodnight...xxxxxx

FrayedKnot · 04/05/2009 21:06

We went to the beach

It was arctic

DS braved an icecream and the rest of us sat huddled around beachside caff with hot chocolate

pointydog · 04/05/2009 21:17

oh yes, re all those frumpy shoes that people were rude about and then fran said she had to buy shoes like that due to an orthopaedic issue. Well, I think the first pair linked to were best.

FrannyandZooey · 04/05/2009 21:31

lol
i do actually like the shoes anyway
i mean i might buy them even if i didn't HAVE to wear frumpy ugly shoes

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 05/05/2009 03:30

Molly, the new response to achieving 10 is Fuck Off. No stickers or nuffink.

Can't help with shoes, Mits but I do like those green sandals. I didn't say anything rude about Franny's.

Right - I was dairy-free for a bit over a week. My eczema went. I was sceptical. I have been scoffing dairy again for a week now and my hand is sooooo itchy and my eyelids too. Coincidence? What do you think?

Salad (it reeked of chlorine)
raisins
green beens
veg thing in cheese stuff with chunks of something

Nine in total today, I think.

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2009 08:18

i think not co-incidence
even the sceptical dermatologist asks about cow's milk every time we go
from what i have they recommend doing complete avoidance for 6 weeks bunny with diary of symptoms, then reintroduce, then avoid again = proof
sorry if you have to avoid dairy but hoorah if you can get rid of itching

right morning i am going to FOCUS this week
anyone care to join me
banana
mango
raisins
apple

4 so far

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/05/2009 09:37

Yes some FOCUS would be good. I have only had some half arsed FOCUS over the long weekend.

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 10:44

I'm sooo focused on my diet. I can't tell you. It's endless chuffing salads and dried fruits and vegetables. I am living the 10/10 dream but cannot be arsed to write it all down because it's bad enough eating it, let alone listing endless portions of lettuce. BAD attitude.

Oooh have fun Fra. They do this as a lunchtime activity at ds's school. DS2 was once spotted kneeling on dummies face in an effort to get the heart going again. He'll be excellent in an emergency. I did a course once too with my friend, and we did the exam but it ended in confusion when we were waiting to go and assist, and the woman was waving to us for help, but we thought she was waving to say 'not ready yet' so we stood idly by chatting and left her alone with a broken arm in the corner.

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 11:14

My somewhat lackadaisical attitude in a crisis meant I failed my First Aid certificate.

littlerach · 05/05/2009 12:41

I have to do my First Aid in June.
3 hours on a Wednesday evening, for 4 weeks
I don't know how i iwll ocncentrate that long.

Salad leaves
Huge tomato
spinach Bhaji (TooT, it was lovely )
raisins

ILs house sale has fallen through so DH can put off conversation for now

littlerach · 05/05/2009 13:42

Woo hoo!

TooT and I are all booked fo rmeet up with you all.

Do you know how long it has taken to book tickets?
Crazy.

SuperBunny · 05/05/2009 14:19

Oh no Franny. That is not what I wanted to hear. Bugger.

Why do onlyt over 7s get a qualification?

Hooray LR re house & tickets.

FrannyandZooey · 05/05/2009 16:33

erm
no further consumption here
that's poor isn't it
right am FOCUSING
will eat something

Boco does your postcode end in S or J? have finally done parcel for you and can't read my own writing

OP posts:
Boco · 05/05/2009 17:17

Ends in S Franny.

Am not going to Riga anymore. Is complicated.

Cheered myself up by eating entire packet of jaffa cakes. I'm not really cheered, I just feel slightly sick.

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 17:38

I sent Boco a parcel today too.

We will just all have to have a virtual Riga trip to the Essential disco. I will have the top bunk.

How was the First Aid?

Boco · 05/05/2009 17:46

Franny's parcel is just returning a dvd, in case you think i'm borrowing dresses from everyone in some crazy dress hoarding way.
Although that might be quite fun.

I would sit alone at the Essential Disco, brooding, while you all danced wildly to Gloria Estefan. [glum]

mollyroger · 05/05/2009 17:48

Sorry about Riga Boco, i was all excited on your behalf.

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 17:56

Oh sorry, was pissing about. I haven't sent you a dress. I have sent you a puffin in a gilded cage. I am competing in my parcel sending. He will need to be fed and watered on arrival. See. See the element of surprise I've worked in there?

Shame about Riga. Eat more jaffa cakes.

Boco · 05/05/2009 18:00

I can't, I ate them ALL. [naus]
Meh. Nevermind though eh.
God I've got LOADS of puffins in guilded cages though, can't move for them round here. Bogof in the co-op.

Guadalupe · 05/05/2009 18:22

Jaffa cakes are hardly any points, I can eat four of them without so much as a whiff of guilt. Bummer about trip, Boco.

Dh is in London (probably catching swine flu) so I can't go for my weigh-in tonight, and I have lost a pound too.
