For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Stop the freakin bus!

Bunny posted this list:

"Salad (it reeked of chlorine)
raisins
green beens
veg thing in cheese stuff with chunks of something"

and then she posted:

"Nine in total today, I think."

Are we all innumerate here? Nine?!

Guadalupe · 05/05/2009 18:23

lol at stop the bus

she may have eaten several portions of the greenery?

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:26

re dairy-free. I am aware it does work for some people and so we are following it avidly. (well, dd2 is but the rest of us sneak in the odd bit of cheese sauce or pesto.)

However, it doesn't work for many and I know I am a huge cynic and I shouldn't be, it's just I've had years of people looking squnity-ways at me and asking slowly if I have tried x,y,z or p and looking non-plussed if I jhaven't.

But we are doing it all more thoroughly than I imagine most people do and we are doing it for 6 weeks regardless of the curren tpoor state of dd2's skin

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:27

3 or 4 dessert bowls ofd salad (I have read that liost and now no one will ever forget it)?

C'mon

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:30

ahem, my list:

sultana bran (ok, I realise now that bran doesn't count but there were at least 10 sultanas in there)
banana
peas
tomatoes in much pasta sauce

I would say 8 portions

mollyroger · 05/05/2009 18:31

Orange
Peaches
Veggie/noodle/chilli soup.

chickpeas
Spinach
Onions
Red onions
Mushrooms
Red pepper
Sweet potato
Green beans

Off I fuck.

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:31

oh, sorry the trip is off, boco

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:32

the trip conjured images of collarless grey jackets and Kraftwerk. No idea why as I have no clue about that part of the world

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 18:32

lol.

This might be crucial: "veg thing in cheese stuff with chunks of something"

Those chunks Pointy, they're about 2 portions. As for the veg thing, well clearly a veg thing is about 5 portions.

it all makes perfect sense to me

I have got about 16

apple
half an orange thing
chunks of those
veg thing in salad stuff

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:33

lol @ mol

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:35

and lol @ 100 too. That's the sort of list I like.

pieces of this
slivers of the other
segments of lovely
a veritable broth of veggerness

Guadalupe · 05/05/2009 18:36

I was in absolute agony watching Kraftwerk once, bent double with trapped wind and four months pregnant at a dance festival. Strange view through people's legs. Good though.

Homemade coleslaw x 2
greek salad x 2
oak leaf
apple x 2
grapes x12
orange juice
spinach
mushrooms
blueberries

SuperBunny · 05/05/2009 18:37

Oh no. I'm disappointed about Riga

Does anyone have a dairy free cookie recipe (that doesn't use vegan marg instead of butter)?

Olive
red pepper
3 bean salad
onion
Juice
Raisin

maybe 5

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:37

I thought you were going to say you were in pain from laughing, guada. They were an odd bunch.

I love greek salad, heavy on the feta and olives

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 18:38

Why did you eat an oak leaf?

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:38

(I am also highly sceptical of 'onion' but will zip it)

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:39

oo I missed the oak leaf

SuperBunny · 05/05/2009 18:39

Pointy, yesterdays nine was that list PLUS my earlier list. 4 + 5 = 9 So there.

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:39

why no marge in the cookies, bunny?

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 18:39

I thought you were going to query

Raisin

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:40

aaahhhh, ok. Let you off.

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:40

oh yes! olive, raisin, in the singular. Is that an American thing?

SuperBunny · 05/05/2009 18:41

There was not a whole portion of onion, nor of olives but more than 1 of red pepper. So, I counted those 3 things as 2 portions. Plus the 3 others. It makes 5.

ahundredtimes · 05/05/2009 18:43

SB has done her math Pointy.

pointydog · 05/05/2009 18:43

ok, bunny, you have proved how thoroughly you think all this through. I apologise for ever doubting you. Next time I will know better.
