For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

SuperBunny · 08/05/2009 17:39

Hooray Mits, what great news

Guadalupe · 08/05/2009 18:00

Brilliant news, MW. What a relief.

Is Toot high on dead flowers somewhere in the west?

I am going out to that local tapas place again in a bit. I have been looking forward to it all day. It has been a good day all in all as the rubber effect lino is ready, the radiators are prematurely ready so the plumber is pleased AND I found my unit to make tea on in a junk shop in town.

It is a lovely bluey grey with pretty cupboards and an enamel pull out top. Never seen anything like it before but apparently it is to roll pastry out on. It will do very nicely for making tea on I think, and a bargain at £75.

mollyroger · 08/05/2009 18:07

Sounds V v nice. Both your evening and your cupboard.

We have ds's school appeal on Monday and he has SATS. I only just realised and now I am all tense, even though I don't care about SATS. Or the Appeal. It's just in terms of unpleasant ordeals to be got through.
Without comfort eating
Have become strangely fond of celery with its pointless yet beguiling crunchiness!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/05/2009 18:11

Good news Mits

FOTC series one has been on every night at about 11pm. Then series 2 starts next week, tues I think.

My f&v count has been shite today, I will try and cram some in before I list

SuperBunny · 08/05/2009 18:12

what is FOTC?

Guadalupe · 08/05/2009 18:18

Flight of the Conchords. It is strangely compelling even though I am at it.

Salt and vinegar rice cakes with salsa are my low fat snack of the moment, Molly. I do like celery too, though I had a very odd one the other day that was really salty? Put me off.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/05/2009 18:20

It took a few episodes for me to get into FOTC, but it really makes me giggle. I'm a Mighty Boosh fan as well.

I love celery when it is crisp and crunchy, it's rank when it's all wilted and limp.

littlerach · 08/05/2009 18:21

I have nevet watched FOTC.

Mits, hurrah for your reuslts.

No food worth mentioning.

SuperBunny · 08/05/2009 18:25

FOTC, of course.

Mmm, celery.

TooTicky · 08/05/2009 18:34

Great stuff Mits.

Sounds good MrsC.

chickpeas in tomato/lentil sauce (2ish)
apple (1)
biscuits (lots)
granola (some)
general shit (1)

TooTicky · 08/05/2009 18:35

Good vibes to Molly.

On reflection, I think the apple was yesterday.

SuperBunny · 08/05/2009 18:38

Does fruit spread count?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/05/2009 19:06

What is fruit spread? Jam?

pointydog · 08/05/2009 19:07

fruit spread is jam made with fruit juice instead of sugar, so is less sweet. Well, mine is, dunno about TooTs.

Franny, you deserve a big fuck off. Well done.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/05/2009 19:15

Franny didn't just get a fuck off, she got a big fuck off.

Where do you get fruit spread from? Do they put other crap in it?

pointydog · 08/05/2009 19:25

Have run out of sultana bran. Had to have shreddies with rice milk. Ugh. No portion. I wept.

salad plus beetroot (1)
loads of corn, peas, carrots, broccoli stalks (2 - huge mound of it on my plate, made tasty by hint of illicit salty butter which my mum had scraped off in respect of us being an anti-dairy household. Good old mum.)
banana

Making an appearance later on will be tomato salsa and houmus. If I eat all teh salsa (perfectly feasible) that will be 2+1.

wow. That would make 7.

franny, you are outrageous

Guadalupe · 08/05/2009 19:26

There is a line of dried blood in ds2's ear. What could that be from? There is no obvious scrape. Do you think I should take him to the doctor?

pointydog · 08/05/2009 19:26

CAn't help feeling it's wrong to be made to feel I should finish the tub of salsa. I suppose I could eat it without the jalapeno pepper tortilla chips.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/05/2009 19:32

Don't know anything about ears. Does he have, or has he had any pain?

pointydog · 08/05/2009 19:43

If he isn't in pain, I would wait and see. I am always slow to get medical advice so I wouldn't like to advise anyone else
