For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

God what is that big yellow beehive thing? Scared the living daylights out of me!

Boco · 30/04/2009 22:24

Made Moroccan vegetable thing with harisa and chick peas and cous cous with lemon and mint. It was very nice. Lots of sweet potato and aubergine. Have had a cleaning sorting day. Am Back On Top.

I think I might apply for a JOB. Have found one full time and local, am writing for and against lists. Is difficult decision. Changing my mind every ten minutes. I want someone else to decide.

SuperBunny · 01/05/2009 00:01

FK, the cookies I made were egg and dairy-free. They weren't cakey but sort of soft and chewy. Better the next day. Will post recipe if you like.

Boco, what is job?

Did people eat TooT's dinner?

Um, fruit, veg, no exercise.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 01/05/2009 04:00

I was 'assertive' with DS's HeadTeacher and Class Teacher.

He is in a real state with home, bullying and sats and issues at school.

Admitted he was highly strung and far from an angel but he cried for 2 hrs on wednesday night and there is no way it is all his imagination, as has been implied. One teacher made 'an example' of him to his classmates because he got upset that they were calling him names and she said he was behaving like a 'mard-arse' . Jesus, what happened to nurturing young minds to bring out their potential?

Anyway, I kept him off school for the day and said, politely, that there was no way they would achieve anything with him in his current state of mind, sats or no sats, and we had a great day. He made me Lol and we were talking about obesity at one point and he said 'you look fabulous mummy, you have a real hour-glass figure'...!!!!!! bless...

Um...dunno Boco, It always seems that you deserve a break with little-boco being so ill sometimes, (how is she at the mo, if I haven't missed you saying?)
I am so lucky (sometimes) with working from home, as I get the best of both worlds, but it can be good to have 'gainful employment' . You could apply and then see how you feel. Would be good experience and you are still within your rights to change your mind.

Rapberries x2,
tomatoes,
peas,
lettuce,
mushroom,
orange,
peach,
juice,
cranberries

exercise...if running around all day, only sitting down to eat/drink doeasn't count I am shot.

I think I need to clone myself to achieve every thing I want to this year... Happily and chaotically busy in my own little world. I may explode noisily and do something mad and uncharacteristic to release some pressure... 3 legged hill racing or para-ironing..lol

Glad to hear things seem to be OK TF, the whole process is fascinating.

Wouldn't it be easier if all of our major life decisions could be made by somebody else?!

I always find focusing on the major points that are holding me back from my decision helps. Sometimes you can get bogged down by the minor points and you end up concentrating on them, instead of the biggies - iyswim.

It sounds like you had a lovely day with your ds Mits

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2009 08:59

well boco here is how i see it

pros: money
autonomy
chance to go to the toilet without person shouting 'mummeeeee can i come in'

cons: you won't get to come and be amusing on MN all day

i think that settles it

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2009 09:01

we are going to rhyme time

can i have a special hall pass to be allowed to mention bowel movements just once today
ds2 did one on the potty this morning
he is genius pooer

Boco · 01/05/2009 09:06

Lol Franny - I don't think I've been amusing on mn for a long time - maybe that's a sign!

I think talking about children poo is ok, and baby poo is definitely fine. The older the person the more unacceptable. I don't know why this should be.

Boco · 01/05/2009 09:07

Oh and yes, that is pretty genius!

Ninjacat · 01/05/2009 09:25

Can I join your thread? I'm 11wks pg with no2 after a 12 year gap. Last time I put on 5stone and seem to be going the same way very fast this time so 10/10 sounds like a fab idea to combat it.
Have Flu and waiting for the ABs to kick in at the moment so definitely need a pick me up.

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2009 12:25

ninja what kind of flu [suspicious]

yes well come in then

boco i promise never to talk about my mother's poo, ever

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 01/05/2009 13:26

Hi Ninjacat. Congratulations on your pregnancy

The links on the op are great to find out what a portion is, and the ladies on here are full of ideas of how to get your 10 f&v a day.

SuperBunny · 01/05/2009 14:32

Congrats Ninja & welcome

Mits, your day sounds lovely. Hope DS feels a bit better about things. SATs are very stressful for all involved and he doesn't need that on top of everything else.

Ninjacat · 01/05/2009 14:51

Thank you for the welcome.

FrannyandZooey - Not been to Mexico recently so hopefully it's just your common garden flu.

AporkalypseNow · 01/05/2009 14:58

Hurrah for Franny's genius wee pooer.
Now that sounds wrong

I have been amusing myself with the pirate english settings on facebook. Tis far more pleasing to my eye than normal settings. MN have nicked my user name as a hot thread topic on homepage. Do I get Roayalties?

I may have to change back to molly. Or evryone will think I nicked it off MNHQ. Pah.

Hello and welcome ninjacat

Plums,
Bananas
cheese and onion pasty
orange
Pineapple

But dinner will be portobellow mushrooms stuffed with cheese niceness with mucho salad. So I'm quietly confident of scraping 10.

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 01/05/2009 15:06

Hello ninja.., and congrats on babyninja 2.

Lol at poo chatter.... but am equally impressed.

Umm...just busy, a bit of walking, am running 2 or 3 times a week which is sensible .

Have taken some pictures for framing and it is such an enormously expensive high. I get so nervous about this bit, but wildly giddy with excitement at the same time. and sighs of inner 'artistic' contentment.

Depends on Boco's job franny, she might get the above mentioned AND the chance to be wildly funny and amusing on MN all day!!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 01/05/2009 15:10

I have the company and the loo thing, but sadly it took me AGES to realise that when I shouted said, 'can you leave me alone, I am ON THE TOILET?', our bathroom window is very close to a busy street and the window is nearly always open..!

TigerFeet · 01/05/2009 16:19

Ahhh Aporkalypse you are Molly [slow]. I stole your aporkalypse for my FB status, I think it's genius.

I had sushi for lunch. Probably not as many portions there as I would hope for. They were mostly vegetable ones though, with seaweed wrapped around them. And i did eat rather a lot.

Hello Ninja, hope the flu clears up. If you have any tips on eating f^v whilst pregnant, do let me know, I am pregnant too (20w+6) and I struggle to eat anything other than toast, jaffa cakes and jelly beans on most days.

Hurrah for Franny's ds2's well functioning digestive system.

What are your pros and cons Boco? I have to say I found working FT very hard but dd was younger than your dd's are and I missed a lot of her baby/toddler time. I much prefer 3 days a week, it works well for me. I did this job for 2 years full time before cutting my hours though, I think I would struggle to find a job that paid as well that was PT from the outset.

Sounds like you and ds had a good day Mitsu, just what you both needed

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 01/05/2009 16:37

Am liking your diet TF...

Someone should come and work for me, I am full of tea very busy and could use a 10/10er 'friday'..

Has there ever been a ...man on this thread?

pointydog · 01/05/2009 16:39

I am eating nougat from bahrain.

pointydog · 01/05/2009 16:41

I thought your ds2 was a baby, franny. What's he doing on a potty? I'm all for early potty training but you take the biscuit.

boco, what sort of job? Are your dds at school? Full time can be a bit of a palaver.

AporkalypseNow · 01/05/2009 17:32

Oh I'm fed up of being porky...

pointydog · 01/05/2009 17:58

mollyroger · 01/05/2009 18:04

pointydog · 01/05/2009 18:08
