For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm doing stuffed portobello mushrooms and leafy salad. What else would go?

ahundredtimes · 01/05/2009 18:20

steak rice

Boco · 01/05/2009 18:26

Pointy no, I was just lying about Alan. My mum isn't called Alan at all. I don't know why I lied, I let myself down.

I have thrashed out my for and against list and seeing as I got another commission today, so have 3 atm, I will wait until Sept and do proper job hunting then. Can't figure out what I'd do about the summer holidays otherwise.

pointydog · 01/05/2009 18:36

oh boco!

I was going to larf at alan too but you sounded so genuine when you said it was your mum's name

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 01/05/2009 18:54

sorry girls but a bit of car porn

pointydog · 01/05/2009 18:54

TooTicky · 01/05/2009 18:56

pizza piled high with spinach
chocolate sandwich

TooTicky · 01/05/2009 18:57

Most impractical Mits. If it has less than 6 seats it just ain't worth it.

ahundredtimes · 01/05/2009 19:29

Moll - I've just had an email from our mutual friend wanting to join FB (which I have run away from). She has spotted you. What's the connection she is saying? What do you want me to say? Am happy to say MN. YOU decide.

I am going through my termly worry about ds1. Is very repetitive. Perhaps there should be a Worried about DS1 topic, there's a lot of it about isn't there.

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2009 19:33

hmm another poor day for f+v

so far:
melon (like cardboard)
apple
banana
raisins

dp cooking
i shall request vegetables
my my i am quite tired

45 mins in gym

pointy it's an attempt at EC (elimination communication) where you watch their cues and aim to get them weeing elsewhere other than nappy
it's because of his chronic nappy rash (eczema based)
he was incredibly co-operative and reliable at first - shockingly so
now very distractable / bloody minded! very hit and miss! but exciting when you get it right

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2009 19:38

i am feeling rather despondent about virtually everything
my appearance
ds1's education
the state of the house
energy levels
my laziness

etc

i just don't seem to get ANYTHING done yet i feel tired a lot of the time
it's like walking uphill all day
and at end of day
poof! i am back at bottom of hill and there is still sand all over dining room floor, ds1 still can't read, and i still look like a wrinkly deflated balloon with my clothes off

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 01/05/2009 19:43

darling girl! What a description. I am feeling much the same, except there is no sand as miserable non-HE er don't have a sandpit.

He'll learn to read when he's ready to learn to read. You know that. There's no hurry. You don't have to prove nuffink to nobody, least of all yourself.

littlerach · 01/05/2009 19:58

Well you're certainly not lazy Fran, that's for sure
And you have a bay that poos on a potty so that's kind of impressive.

Dd1 is at camp

I had lunch on a course today and it was divine
Mini goat cheese, red onion pasties.
tortilla wraps with cheese and spring onion.
teeny skewers with tomato, mozarella na dbasil
Roasted veg in oil
potato and apple salad
and soem meat stuff.
Then fruit kebabas
raspberry muffins.
Yum!!!!

Then chips for tea after dropping dd1 at camp
House stinks of vinegar.
Rabbit has bitten lump out of skirting board and leapt over a box and escaped into pit dining room.

Am looking forward to weekend.

TooTicky · 01/05/2009 19:59

Franny, just being very tired can make you despondent.

As for the reading, really don't worry. Little ones are pushed so hard in school to meet targets, but they don't really get it until they are ready. He is articulate, which stands him in excellent stead. It will all fall into place.

I have put too much water in the rhubarb.

Ds1 has won 1st prize in an art competition
He had to do a storyboard depictimng A Day In The Life Of A Carrot.
The competition was open to several schools.

littlerach · 01/05/2009 20:02

well odne LiTTleTooT

mollyroger · 01/05/2009 20:08

oh bollox 100. She's too nice to hold it against me, so do web forum if you want. tell her I'd rather nobody else knew I was a member of mummiesandkittens.com though....IYKWIM....

But too feel free to tell her how blardy amusing and witty I am though...

mollyroger · 01/05/2009 20:09

I want to say soothing things to Franny but I have to go out now.

I will come and soothe later.
x

FrannyandZooey · 01/05/2009 20:22

aw you are all v soothing
sorry about the fishing for reassurance type post
the reading thing - the worst of it is that I really think he might get it now, but I just never seem to find the time to actually teach him stuff
i mean i am a fairly firm believer in autonomous learning
but I think with a bit of a push this year he could crack the reading, however, finding even 10 mins a day in which to do it seems impossible
which is ridiculous! obviously the time is there
but ...oh i don't know. just nothing ever seems to get done. do you know what i mean?

anyway 100
please share
sorry for hijacking

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 01/05/2009 20:28

Share?

Well, left alone for a bit he'll probably work it out for himself. Two of mine did. And I'd never even heard of autonomous learning

ahundredtimes · 01/05/2009 20:30

I did my best Moll, but once again I think my best was not good enough. I might have made you sound like a stalker. I imagine this is a long way from how you'd like to be presented. Didn't say MN.

Oh god, bedtime.

ahundredtimes · 01/05/2009 20:32

Oh sorry LR for the running over rabbit emoticon.

There is one teeny eensy thing I need to clear up with you LR:

is your rabbit living in the house?

Boco · 01/05/2009 20:38

Franny I think I feel like that about 80% of the time, then I have days where I clean and sort and do good things with the children and make good food and i feel pleased. Then gradually all the shit builds back up and I don't seem to get anywhere. A nice consistent energy and motivation level would be brilliant.

But also, you've still got a baby, so in your position i'd be rocking and staring into space EVEN more than I do.

DD2 had horrid accident today. She was scooting home from picking up dd1 from school and I just saw as she scooted face first into a large pot plant outside someone's house. Split the inside of her lip and bashed all her teeth, loads of blood, bottom lip all fat and purple. Through the sobs she explained that she wanted to see if she could scoot with her eyes shut. We agreed that we've all learned v. important lesson today.

ahundredtimes · 01/05/2009 21:18

lol and also ouch. On the first day of us in a new house, ds1 blindfolded himself to see if he could find his way about. We ended up in A&E with him having his head stitched. Another great learning experience.

FrayedKnot · 01/05/2009 21:45

Oh dear Boco, poor old DD2.

I would find it very difficult if I had to to work f/t. I only work 4 hours a day and by the evening I am usually exhausted. The school holidays are also very difficult to sort out, unless you have very helpful relatives or something.

This week I have been fantasizing about giving up work

I think putting it off 'til Sept a good idea.

PILs coming for lunch tomorrow

I haven;t even shopped for it yet. It will have to be something cold.

FrayedKnot · 01/05/2009 21:57

Have just read thred more thoroughly

Well done to DS1, TooT!

A rather poor effort of salad twice, and satsumas.

Vigorous floor washing.
