For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 14:18

Oh dear. Is he very old? We had a lot of hamsters when I was young but I can't particularly remember them being ill. They died a lot, but I only recall them being alive or dead.

littlerach · 24/04/2009 15:17

littlerach · 24/04/2009 15:58

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 17:09

Four months, oh, that's a shame. Have you told dcs yet?

TigerFeet · 24/04/2009 17:22

Oh dear TooT. Hope your dc's are OK.

TooTicky · 24/04/2009 17:28

He was ds1's own personal beloved hamster

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 17:33

My ds1 has just been beaten up in the park. Punched in the face and kicked in the ribs by older boys. Something to do with a water fight.

I can't help feeling really annoyed with him. For a start I didn't say he could go to the park, I said he could go to the shop and I don't know why he wasn't with his friends and tbh, if someone punched me I would punch them right back. That is probably not the done thing but hey ho. Instead he just tried to get away and comes home crying.

My, I am a cruel mother. Maybe he should do judo or something.

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 17:35

His face is all puffed up. I suppose I could go down there but he would rather I didn't. Sigh.

Toot - can you get him a new one this weekend?

FrannyandZooey · 24/04/2009 17:39

guad i think people who punch older boys back tend to get beaten up REALLY badly, or knifed or something
i think he was wise to run off
sorry to hear about it - nasty for you both

and toot i'm sorry about hannibal also

and boco i am sorry you are having to ask for your dvd back
i don't seem to have given you anything back ever
sorry

Oh Guad,poor ds1
I think running was probably wise. Alsoinstinctive, and instincts are good.
Is he v upset?

Yes,I think he would like another,so we will.
Thank goodness the childbenefit is in!!

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 17:55

Really? Am I telling him the wrong thing? I said why didn't you punch them back, why did you just let them hit you, I would never have just let people hit me and he looked completely amazed and then burst into tears again.

Oh dear. I am a bad mother. Perhaps if he went to some self defence classes he could deck them back in a nice knife-avoiding way?

You are right. I will tell him he did the right thing and be sympathetic not cross. Poor ds1.

pointydog · 24/04/2009 18:00

here we go, another thread galloping off.

Was it a private or public book group, 100? Have we established that?

Guada, dd1 and her friends were attacked recently at th epark. One of her friends was punched. My initial reaction was (and usually is), why didn't you punch back. But dd1 just couldn't hot anyone, she would be utterly useless. Maybe your ds is the same? So I think running is ok.

TooTicky · 24/04/2009 18:02

No Guad, not a bad mother. You just want ds1 to be able to look after himself, which is understandable.

Tatties · 24/04/2009 18:08

Oh TooT

Guad no you're not a bad mother, what TooT said. How awful for ds

Guadalupe · 24/04/2009 18:09

Well, yes, this is it. He's really not an aggresive sort and would shy away from any trouble if he can and probably has a very bendy right hook.

I just went and apologised to him and said he did the right thing and he was relieved and said when Otto fought back he got really badly punched so he thought it best to make a sharp exit.

He must take after his dad.
