For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2009 18:18

You make me lol Toot

As predicted, Baby Lemur was fine. He knows his Granny well so they both had a lovely time and I managed not to hyperventilate

If this Granny malarky goes well it will give me a free couple of hours every week!

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 18:23

Hurrah, lemur!

Hope TooT's dinner went well.

DS appears to be erecting a tent on his bed

FrayedKnot · 30/04/2009 18:30

Hurrah Lemur...I should make the most of it

DS generally loads better today. However, DH hme now, so things more likely to go haywire

Strawbs
Dried fruit
Satsumas
Baby corn
Mixed stir fry leaves
Mushrooms
Yellow Pepper
Salad leaves
Red pepper
Cherry toms
Cucumber

I am currently perfecting a recipe for peanut butter cookies.

It requires them to be eaten quite quickly so I can start the next experimental batch.

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 18:31

Please report back, FK.

I made some good peanut butter and banana cookies last week but am never convinced that I like peanut butter and banana together.

Good to hear that DS was better.

FrannyandZooey · 30/04/2009 18:34

good day in london
probably my worst day for veg for a long time
apart from breakfast i don't think any has passed my lips - oh, bean salad and hummus
i might have scraped 6
i would like to say i will make up for it later, but i am completely knackered and destined to spend evening eating chocolate i think

OP posts:
SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 18:42

Why were you in London?

TigerFeet · 30/04/2009 18:45

Hello, had another scan today (scheduled 20wk anomaly one) and apparently have to go back to see the big cheese in Nottingham in two weeks for yet another - only there was a complete failure to let me know so the big cheese's secretary is going to call me tomorrow to arrange an appointment.

So that will be a total of five scans for this pg . I rather like the scans though, esp now that everyone seems confident that all is well. The sonographer was poking the stick thing in me and the baby was kicking, all in all a rather bruising experience. We have a rather spooky scan photo of the baby's face that looks rather like a scull. What, with there being a skull in the baby's head and all, who'd a thunk it?

Right, am off to my antenatal thread now to discuss vegetables and the eating thereof

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 18:47

Why all the scans, Tiger? Is everything ok?

TigerFeet · 30/04/2009 18:53

We think so, thanks Bunny, yes.

I have 2 as a matter of course

1 growth scan at 34 weeks because of high BMI (am over the threshold by 0.2)

1 a couple of weeks ago following a blood test result showing a high risk of Down's Syndrome, I refused an amnio so was offered a detailed scan by a consultant at the regional centre

And now another one by cons as a follow up to the first.

I could refuse them I know, but I like them . When we saw the cons he couldn't find any markers for DS so we relaxed at that point

Most of this is because I was too daft to a)lose weight before falling pg and b)too daft to refuse the DS screening blood test.

SO...

Carrots, raw x 4 with dip
Apple Juice

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 18:56

Oh, ok. All sounds good - am very glad

I had bloods done and was told there was a 10% chance DS had downs syndrome. Cue tears... was huge shock. Then, they looked at my notes and said, "Oh no, sorry, I read it wrong"

FrannyandZooey · 30/04/2009 18:56

home ed trip here
was very good - the woman leading the group very energetic and creative
she said they were a confident group and it was unusual for them all to have contributed to the extent that they did - she wouldn't have expected that from your average group

Discover place looks v good.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2009 19:00

You're not daft at all TF. Am so glad to hear things are going well. 20 weeks feels like a real milestone doesn't it?

Yes FK, report back on the cookies. When I make them they are always a bit hard, almost more biscuity than cookie.

banana
cauliflower
salad x2
peppers
mushrooms
onion
grapes
OJ

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 19:02

Ooo, is there a difference between a biscuit and a cookie? I thought they were the same thing.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2009 19:09

I always think cookies should be chewy and bicuits a bit more brittle. Can you tell I have studied this?

AporkalypseNow · 30/04/2009 19:11

hello everyone. TF, all sounds stressful, glad everything is ok.

Just had a little scare. My best friend's DP was in Mexico 2 weeks ago, and got back just before all this swine flu stuff blew up. He has been subject of good natured ribbing but obviously was lucky with timing of his trip. Today got a text saying their toddler had been rushed into hospital this morning - but no other info!
We've all been madly worried all day but just found out was 'just' a chest infection and nothing more sinister....
Poor wee thing, but they are sending her home this evening.

pineapple
Mixed veggie soup (3 portions?)
Plums
Banana
Clelery
carrot sticks
Brocolli
Green beans
Leeks
Mushrooms

TigerFeet · 30/04/2009 19:11

Mine are always brittle, whether they are meant to be or not! Thankfully cakes are a generally a bit less crunchy.

littlerach · 30/04/2009 19:27

Lemur I agree re cookies and biscuits.

Wow, TF, you are half way already, that has gone quickly.

raisins
pear
banan chips
broccoli
sweetcorn

Had to work this afternoon then a cours ethis evening and feel knackered

And have been packing ofr dd1's camp this weekend
She is v excited, as is dd2 who will be an only child for the weekend, whilst I am worried

pinkspottywellies · 30/04/2009 20:14

Thanks for more bedsharing tips! Can't feed him on my chest - he's enormous (same weight dd was at 20 wks and he's 10 weeks ) and besides I think he'd suffocate on my 32Gs!! I don't think I can lean the other one over for the same reason! He doesn't actually feed much at that time so I can just feed from the right anyway (until he starts to roll, when I'll be asking about that!!) or just have him half under the duvet.

I did 10 mins on the trampoline last night!! Hoorah! Going to try and do it every day. Good fruit day today but not so much veg.

Hope you're all ok. I'm just doing a BBB style whirl in and out at the moment cause my priority is getting to bed!

pointydog · 30/04/2009 21:11

I'm not bothered about swine flu. Snout to be scared of.

har har

pointydog · 30/04/2009 21:12

banana
carrots
broccoli
dried apricots
baby sweetcorna dn sugarsnap peas
orange

FrayedKnot · 30/04/2009 21:59

Well this latest batch turned out more like soft rock buns than cookies Quite tasty though.

The experiment is really to try and make them dairy and egg free so I can bring some to the meet up
