For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

AporkalypseNow · 29/04/2009 21:00

oh how can we answer that?

Some things, you know instintively it is best to pretend you never found out and erase it from your memory banks permantenly for the sake of all concerned...

Other things, (like perhaps, finding out your dh is taking you on a surprise trip to mexico for your birthday and is really proud of himself for organising such a great present) you might just have to speak up

FrannyandZooey · 29/04/2009 21:06

Thankyou FK
Sorry about ds. Is he tired? My dd2 is very tired atm. Dunno if it's something to do with the weather.

Molly,that sounds tedious.

Franny,glad it's sorted.

Boco · 29/04/2009 21:53

Lol Franny, I very much like the speed and efficiency with which you sorted that out. 20.56 - I'm going to have to sort it out
21.04 - I have sorted it out.

Good Work.

I had the best dinner of gnocci and red pepper sauce and mozzarella (or 'lots of rella' as dd2 calls it) with big green salad and I want to eat it again right now.

Boco - how did you make your red pepper sauce?

Soup (2 or 3)
juice (half)
strawberries
canatloupe (lots - almost a whole one )
mineola (what are they? Other than fancy oranges)
apple sauce
dried mango

I reckon I probably had ten today. Could do with more variety (i.e. not eating a whole melon) but still, hooray!

TooTicky · 30/04/2009 06:14

The Minneola tangelo is a cross between a Duncan grapefruit and a Dancy tangerine, and was released in 1931 by the United States Department of Agriculture Horticultural Research Station in Orlando. Most Minneola tangelos are characterized by a stem-end neck which tends to make the fruit appear bell-shaped. Because of this it is called the Honeybell in the gift fruit trade where it is one of the most popular varieties, but the proper name is Minneola. The fruit is usually fairly large, typically 3 - 3½ inches in diameter. The peel color is quite good and when mature results in a bright reddish-orange color. The peel is relatively thin so the fruit peels easily. It is quite juicy.
Fancy oranges then.

Speed read thread.
You were chatty!

TooT, dd1 (quite fussy) used it have plain pasta with various things like peas or sweetcorn or carrots with it, whilst the rest of us had pasta with a sauce on.
Same with rice and cous cous.
In fact she still does with rice.

TT was doing that rabbit danger thing last night, banging his back legs. I htink it was after dh was laughing v loudly
I ended up giving TT food to stop him
Then he banged fo rmore.

And we had him running around the lounge and he was doing the most amazing jumps and hops.
I think he has a future in the circus or at leats on stage. He can jump high.

Rather rubbish food yesterday due to working.

Will be quite bad to day I htink as am workimg around lunch and dinner.

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 14:23

Thanks TooT. I didn't know minneolas were related to grapefruit. It was delicious - all sweet and juicy.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2009 14:39

Baby Lemur has gone off with his Granny for a few hours. It's the first time that he hasn't been with either me or dh

He'll be fine, but I'm bricking it and on the brink of tears if I even start to think about it.

So I'll shut up now

I would like a springy bunny I think.

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 14:52

Aw, Lemur

FrayedKnot · 30/04/2009 16:23

Lemur hope you are able to relax a little bit before he returns. I was hopeless at leaving DS until he was about 18 months.

TooTicky · 30/04/2009 17:01

Brave lemur. He willbe fine.I didn't doleaving for ages.

I am allblank. CanI have some helpplease?
I have a handfulof basil. Alsobroccoli, courgettes, peas, pasta...what shallI do with them?
Dd2 is screaming and hitting me and I can't think and ds just wants me tolook at stuff on the computer and keeops shouting.

Guadalupe · 30/04/2009 17:09

Er, pasta with broccoli courgettes peas and basil?

ahundredtimes · 30/04/2009 17:09

I second Guad's vote.

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 17:23

I'd do that too - pasta with lots of green veg and basil. Garlic too, if you have any. sounds delicious.

TooTicky · 30/04/2009 17:28

how? what do i do with the basiland garlic?

SuperBunny · 30/04/2009 17:43

Honestly, if I were being lazy I would chuck the pasta and broccoli in a pan. Boil. Throw peas in near end.

Meanwhile fry courgettes in garlic

Drain pasta & veg, add courgettes. Drizzle with oil and/ or lemon juice and lots of salt and pepper.

Maybe some capers too.

TooTicky · 30/04/2009 17:49

Hmm. I have steamed allthe veg and made a sort of pseudopesto...
