For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Actually I heard people only go to Youth Hostels for the shagging and the beer. A bit like re-enactors.

Nicky I had chard on my pizza tonight.

It's a bit like spinach, only tends to hold it's shape and texture a little bit more (i.e. doesn;t turn into complete mush).

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:52

I think I have fallen insanely in love with Latvia.

It's is very central. And near many interesting places. Here, this is near your hostel:

LIDO famous restaurant with cheap and fresh meal is 5 minutes walk away! And right oppisite it is the popular 'FASHION CLUB' disco for those who like to party as well as 'ESSENTIAL disco'!

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 27/04/2009 20:52

Finding love in a Rigan youth hostel?
Sounds like a Smiths song?

Ooh, cheese, I love cheese.
I've cut down on that too.

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:53

So that's good. A fresh meal and then ESSENTIAL disco. God, I wish I was coming. I'd love every single second of this holiday.

Guadalupe · 27/04/2009 20:54

Last time I stayed in a hostel was in Amsterdam and I got flu and had to press myself against the ribby radiator and shiver for two days. We had no money either and when I was slightly improved we went from shop to shop sharing a beer. It was a hoot.

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 20:55

Whistle not silly at all!

Yes, chard up the bum: thread juxtaposition on a Friday evening maybe?

Boco · 27/04/2009 20:56

OMG am going to FASHION CLUB!
It does look beautiful in Riga doesn't it - very Medieval and cobbly.
Am slightly nervous about youth hostel, have not stayed in one before, will I have to sleep in a bunk bed?

Guadalupe · 27/04/2009 20:56

Yes, with a hard cord blanket and when they make you gte up in the morning to clean the floor you will be relieved and itchy.

nickytwotimes · 27/04/2009 20:57

Guad, that really must be a Smith's song?

Boco · 27/04/2009 20:58

Oh you should come 100 - there's 20 going, so am sure there'd be a top bunk going spare. But be warned, apart from me they're all either therapists or psychiatrists - which is v. slightly terrifying thought.

Guadalupe · 27/04/2009 20:58

100 will sort them out in a flash of her brows

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 20:59

Right here are the bunk beds from your hostel. images.webresint.com/images/hostels/8238_4.jpg

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 21:00

No? It sounds fucking hilarious. I'd LOVE it, I'd love everything. They would disapprove of me though, find me irreverent I expect. God we'd laugh though wouldn't we?

Guadalupe · 27/04/2009 21:01

this looks like a nice one

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/04/2009 21:03

dried fruit
banana x2
cauliflower
OJ
salad leaves
cucumber
tomatoes
avocado
strawberries
raspberries

And a walk with the whinge bag Baby Lemur. 10/10

Boco · 27/04/2009 21:03

i doubt they'd disapprove, they're not very serious, but then i've only met most of them when they've been drunk. I found the Iranian psychiatrist rather scary though, he told me I looked very young and when I did 'oh pah' hand wave he said 'do you think I say this to seduce you? I don't, I have a partner so there is nothing for me to gain by lying'. And I went ok. Thanks then.

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 21:04

I bet Riga is amazing though. I think it'll be a wonderful, wonderful trip with the tourist info site to look at, and then all the architecture and 20 psychiatrists too. You are going to have the BEST time ever.

Boco · 27/04/2009 21:06

LOl 100, you're scaring me now. I think you should come, I think you and the Iranian Psychiatrist would get on.

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 21:09

We'd be great! It'd be impossible for us not to be.

Don't be scared. I'm jealous. It's terrific. And there are all these wooden bits all around the town. I like eastern europe. It's weird and good. I went to Bratislava once and we ate bacon and eggs in a spherical restaurant built on a bridge.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/04/2009 21:10

pmsl @ Iranian psychiatrist.

As much as I love bf'ing (and Baby Lemur and dh of course!), I can't wait until I can go away for a night

I have Riga envy.

I worked with a guy who went on a stag weekend to Latvia. You could kill a bull with a bazooka for £50

TigerFeet · 27/04/2009 21:10

Boco you must psychoanalyse the psychiatrists and let us know your findings on your return.

Boco · 27/04/2009 21:13

My only eastern europe experience was Poland and it really Didn't Go Well.

So, bunkbeds! It'll be a DODDLE compared to the hard plastic chair I slept on there won't it!

ahundredtimes · 27/04/2009 21:14

Also in the Gellert turkish baths in Budapest I discovered that when you are old all your pubic hair falls out.

God, this is exciting. I can't believe you FORGOT about this trip. I'd have been awake for nights just dreaming and smiling and laughing and being all thrilled. I might do this now, and I'm not even going.

mollyroger · 27/04/2009 21:14

''you could kill a bull with a bazooka for £50''
