Help me please! DH been called in hospital, talking of WBC and Bone marrow

DH been unwell for a while and I finally dragged him to GP on Saturday. GP sent him for blood tests that were taken yesterday morning. Had a phone call at 9.30pm last night saying his White cell count was very very high and he needed to go to hospital and they were expecting us.
They rechecked blood and very very high (normal is 4-11, DH had 382!)
They have done chest xray but they just said they think its a blood disorder and something about bone marrow! Of course we are now thinking leukemia
I have had all of one hours sleep as didnt get home till 4am and baby woke at 5am. Im going back once seen DD1 off to school, and they said the hemotologist will be round first thing and we should have more answers then.
Anyone know anything other than cancer that it could be? Docs werent willing to say a lot last night tbh.
We all have to wear masks and gowns and his in isalation!

Also, if you se this before you go into the hospital. Make sure you take a paper and pen so you can write things down - even things like the consultants name, and details like that - it will help you make sense of everything later.

he is having bone marrow aspiration thingy this afternoon, b ut their pretty certain.

good news is it isnt as bad as acute leukemia

really sorry to hear about your DH Lisad, fingers crossed that the news from the bone marrow biopsy is relatively positive.

What shocking news. Much love and good wishes to you all...I'll be keeping everything crossed for a full and speedy recovery.

oh dear at least there is a diagnosis and hopfully treatment will get underway asap. wishing him and Lisa strength at this difficutl time.

Oh no. lisa - am so sorry. You must be so scared. MIL's best friend had this 10 years ago. She is now FINE!!!

So sorry to hear this. The HM of DD's school had this, the chronic kind - he lived for years and still working as HM of busy school - we only knew he'd had it after he died (he was then past retirement age!) and then we thought 'hmm he did look a bit pale sometimes' but truly I think you can have great hope that he will do well with treatment and soon feel better than he's done for a while.

What a shock for you though. Thinking of you.
