For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hmm, could I carry off that last one of Franny's?

TooTicky · 13/03/2009 22:07

Quite like Pink's last one too. But with extra at the front. Hmm.

BBBee · 13/03/2009 23:10

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/03/2009 08:05

Sorry to hear about DS's hearing loss Pink. As it will be something he grows up with, hopefully it won't mean anything to him because to him it is normal - iyswim.

FrannyandZooey · 14/03/2009 09:58

I have finished it. Blimey.

Pink - sorry about the hearing thing. You don't really want him to be able to join the navy, though. Do you?

Can I ask a portion-related question? God knows why I'm bothering, I'm barely managing 5 a day at the moment, but I actually clicked on the link at the bottom of the page of the portion sizes link on franny's op. It's weird and has confused me. Why would 7 cherry tomatoes be a portion, but 14 button mushrooms? Does that not seem like a lot?

And what does '2 inch slice of mango' mean? 2 inches thick? 2 inches long? How do you all count your mango portions? 'Tis mango season, finally, I want to be able to count them properly. Even if they are one of 3 portions in a day...

AtillaTheHairyArsedTrucker · 14/03/2009 14:08

Pink......Oh I am sorry. Used to live near a centre for the hearing inpaired and to be honest I have never seen such bright, funny inspirational children and they did everything, I started to learn sign language, as I also went to a university that had a lot of people with hearing imparements of some kind.

It is of course something to come to terms with but with the love and support of a fabulous Mummy like yourself, the world will be his oyster.

Pink, I ma sorry to hear about ds.
A good friend of mine has a son who is almost 2 and he is deaf in both ears. He is talking a bit now, and seems ot hear quite a bit (has hearing aids). He starts at preschool next month.
And dd2 goes ot school with a boy who has v limited hearing in both ears. He manages v v well.
But you are probably fed up with tales of hearing loss

All I've had is a banana today and cereal.
Will make up for it later.
